Chapter 21: Battles and Goddesses, part three (99)

Momonga frowned as she read the surrender papers. There was a lot of words here that she didn’t really recognize. They had set up, and by they she meant her own army and the empire’s army, to attack the city. Sure, it was fine, better than fine really. She didn’t have to use any flashy spell to freak out the enemy now, like she had planned.
She was fine with that, she wouldn’t have to kill so many people now. She also didn’t have the chance to try and level up now. She frowned some more, she hadn’t felt the need, really. She had just been wondering what it took to level in this new world.
She had started to feel stronger and stronger as of late. She didn’t know why, all she could tell was that it was when the church in the Empire had started up. People there actually prayed to her, they actually found weight in the words of her friends.
It made her happy, to have the words of her friends legitimately aid those in need. She would think that some of them would have been happy at this, Ulbert certainly would. She smiled a bit more at that. They would have loved this world.
She shook her head of those thoughts, and looked to the only other two occupants of the tent. One was Mare, the dark elf twin brother of Aura. He seemed just fine standing there wearing a world item. The other was a strange one. It was Leinas of the Imperial knights.
She had wanted to ask Momonga a question after she had read the message. After all, it was both the empire and herself. There was no need to put personal interests in front of those of her nation right now. After a messenger from the kingdom had come by, and delivered this message Leinas, she had brought it to Momonga as she was the actual goddess here.
After she had read it out, the other two had gone deep into thought. Well, Mare didn’t truly think too deep about it. Leinas now, she was actively contemplating it. Momonga was fine with all of this. It was a rather simple thing, they would give the city and land.
At the same time, they wanted to host an embassy and would give her nation land to build a full-on cathedral level building in the capital. When she means full-on, she means massive. The kind of building that would take centuries to build.
They also wanted a mutual defensive pact. That might have been a deal breaker. After all, her nation she wanted to make needed as much land as possible. She planned on dismantling the kingdom later down the line. The plan that she had made would take much longer with this on place.
She sucked in a breath, and looked back down at the open message. This was fine. After all, a plan never survived contact with the enemy. One thing would have stopped her sooner rather than later. It was a silly thing to expect something different.
“Alright, do you two have any ideas with this? I plan on accepting, but I was simply wondering what you two thought. Leinas, you start first as I’m pretty sure I know what Mare is going to say,” she said, and Mare let out what might have been a pout.
The woman looked somewhat startled by the question. She probably hadn’t been expecting this whole thing. She was Imperial after all, and she wasn’t one of Momonga’s people. She blinked really hard, and opened her mouth to speak.
“What were you planning that they respond with, my lady? Because if you look at it like they probably are, they’d be fighting a deity. You saved them, after all. That would be foolish to fight you,” she said, and Momonga resisted the urge to palm her face.
Why hadn’t she thought of that? It was such a silly thing after all. She had set herself up as a goddess. Why wouldn’t someone surrender? It was such a strange thing to not do.
“Of course. I had simply expected them to be too stubborn. The different nobles are rather dull, after all. They may have still attacked. Though, that is fine. Later down in this letter tells us that the king and chief warrior will be handing off the city when we march on it. You should prep your men for some sort of parade march. You do have one prepped for this, correct?” she asked, and Leinas nodded her head.
Momonga let the smallest of smiles grace her face. This was going better than she had expected. Next on her mental bracket was the question that Leinas wanted to ask of her. She had some time right now, and opened her mouth to speak.
“You said you also wanted to ask a question, young knight? Speak your mind, and I’ll see what I can do now, I’m in a good mood,” she said, and the woman nodded her head a little.
She glanced at the ground, and Momonga couldn’t help but think of her as a little kid. She defiantly reminded her of one, for whatever the reason. It took her a second to ask Momonga whatever she wanted to ask her. It wasn’t easy to ask a god for something when they were standing in front of you, after all.
“I don’t know if this is too much, but can you remove this curse from me? I’ll be in your debt, I'll do anything for you, you just have to ask,” she seemingly begged, and moved her hair from her face.
What Momonga saw was rather disgusting. A swirling mass of skin and puss. She wrinkled her nose slightly. It was a rather ugly thing. Not the ugliest though, she had seen much more debilitating ailments on earth when she was a he.
She simply raised her arm, and cast a simple spell. “Remove Greater Curse,” was a useful spell that every made needed in their lives, at least Momonga thought so. It was a simple arcane spell, one that removed greater curses.
It took effect immediately, the rotten and putrid flesh falling off. Underneath that flesh was smooth, fresh skin that looked like it had never seen it’s second decade. Leinas gasped in shock from the feeling, the rotten flesh dissolving into the air as it fell from her face. She reached up to her face, and began to cry when her fingers found the fresh skin.
