The Grand Catastrophe

Chapter 19: Shock and Awe, part two (92)

Jircniv looked at the little girl that sat in front of him. She idley played with the edge of the cup that she hade been given. The juice within had been drank already, and now she was simply playing with the edge of the glass. She had introduced herself as Aura Bella Fiore. The young dark elf was a servant of the goddess Momonga.

There was another person in this room from that tomb. There, at the corner of the table, was another dark elf. He himself was dressed as a girl may have been. That, in and of itself wasn’t the weirdest thing ever. After all, he had met some crossdressers before.

Yet, he seemed even more like a young girl than the actual girl in the room. He sighed in his mind, wondering what was going to happen. He had given them snacks and drink as had been requested. Now, Aura seemed to have forgotten what she was here to do in the first place!

While it was aggrevating, Mare seemed to remember at least, and she was rather young. She may have actually forgotten. Though, he was fairly certain she was just playing with him, trying to get him to react or some other thing like that.

They were the only three people in this room. Maids had come in earlier that day, they had been there to give them the drinks and snacks. At that point, they had been rather nervous. They had shaken and stumbled. He had been confused as to why, at first.

“Sis, can we please tell Mr. Emperor what we need to tell him, and leave?” the young boy emplored his sister, and she nodded her head as if she had jusr remembered.

She turned to him then. Her eyes lockign onto his. It was like he was being stared down by some great and big predater. He under stood why the maids had been nervous now. They had felt like a mouse under the paw of a lion.

“Lady Momonga wants you to come by the tomb and apologize. Whatever you think the best way to do so, do it. About twenty other people can come with you. What she want’s to talk about other than that, she didn’t say,” she said, and clambered off her chair and walked out of the room, along with her brother.

Jircniv, the only other person in the room, sighed outwordly. The day had been going rather poorly. Now, it had gone even worse. He hadn’t that faintest idea on what to do.

...

Jircniv lay slumped in his carriage. There, his advisors sat. The lot of them had simply let the man lay there, sleeping, as he hadn’t slept in a very long while. So long, in fact, that he couldn’t remember that last time that he woke after the sun did. It was a rather hectic ptoblem to have.

Sooner, rather than later, the bloody emperor opened his eyes. Sunlight hit them, and he flinched slightly. After a second or two, he smiled and sat up straight in his chair. The rest of the carrigae looked on at him. It was as if they were seeing a babyt fawn walk for the first time.

“You know,” Jircniv started, “this new Emperor is really pushing his luck. Why, that’s the first time I’ve had a good sleep since he got on the throne. That say’s a lot about his ruliong style,” He said, and shrugged.

Thes rest of the space seemingly found that funny, many of them began to chuckle. There, one of his advisers spoke, his hand rasing as he did so to get the attention. Jircniv looked to him, and noted his nervous face.

“What are you planning, if you don’t mind me asking my lord?” he asked, and Jircniv waved him off.

“That’s fine. I was plannig on telling you all this anyway. If she really is a goddess, which I believe to be true as we saw in Arche’s face, then we shouldn’t really anger her. We’ve seen that her servants and followers can simply arrive in our capital effortlessly. That must be why they sent the twins rather than Calvaria,” he started, and took a breath.

“Now, we have braught the head of the supposed noble that had sent the Workers to her tomb. Then, after that we can ask her what she plans to do with her faith and church. After that, we offer our help with it if it’s not againest the empire. We know from the texts that Arche has brought back that she doesn’t do sacrifices. Instead, we offer her corpses. That way, she cna make any undead that she may need,” he explained, and the others looked to each other nervously.

It was after a second or two of silence, that there was a knock at the door to the carriage. Jircniv nodded to one of his imperial knights, Nimble, who had simply sat there, then moved and opened the door to the carriage. Even more sunlight filtered into the room.

There, at the doorway, was Leinas. The woman jumped in then. Jircniv smiled as she say down next to him. After a second or two of her whiping away the musuc and puss that seeped from the curse that blighted her otherwise gorgeous face, she spoke.

“My Lord, the tomb is just up ahead. We should be getting there in only a coulpe of minutes. Though, there looks to be a storm growing on the horizon,” she told him, and he nodded his head.

“Of course. Say, leinas. What do you think of this deity now that they’ve made a impact onto our nation? Obviously people saw that a dragon belonging to the goddess landed in our capital,” he asked, and she nodded her head.

“I hope to ask her to cure my curse, if I have the chance,” she said honestly.

“Yes,” Jircniv stroked his chin as he spoke, “but then you wouldn’t have to be in my imploy anymore,” he said with a wispery tone.

“Yes, but you still have the three others in your imploy. The goddess Momonga may not even grant me my wish,” she said, and Jircniv nodded his head.

“I hope that your wish is actually granted, if only to see if she can favor those outside of her followers. After all, if she only grants those kinds of things to those that follow her, it would change our talks greatly.
