The Grand Catastrophe

Chapter 15: Giant, part two (80)

There they stood. Momonga looked to the cold and damp cave, her frown was obvious, at least to those that knew her. Her face didn’t move much.

The cave that they stood in front of was dark and damp. The dripping of water could even be heard from the mouth of the cave. Momonga sighed as she looked at such a thing. She started her march inside, her magic reaching out as spells to check for any traps.

Aura followed her steps, making no noise as she fell in step with the goddess. Momonga was somewhat amused by how good of a ranger the girl was. Her build hadn’t even been min-maxed. She smiled softly at the thought, and patted the girl on her head as she gripped the pommel of her sword with the other.

“Lady Momonga?” the little elf asked, “what are you going to when you find this guy?” she asked.

“Well, I’m going to ask very nicely that they stop what they’re doing. If they don’t stop, them we’ll kill them, and use their bodies for something. If they agree, then we have some new neighbors to look out for,” she explained her haphazard plan and the little dark elf nodded her head.

They continued into the cave, until they found a strange entrance-like place. This place was rather large, with a high ceiling and wide walls. It reminded her of some of the different caves of Yggdrasil. In this cavern, there was a group of ogres blocking their path further into the cave.

Then, the stench hit the both of them. The smell seemed to be coming from the ogres, and what they were eating. Momonga peered at them, they hadn’t noticed this yet, and saw that they were eating goblins.

There was one troll though, his larger frame somehow escaping her sight for a minute. She plugged her nose, along with Aura, and spoke. She tried and failed to avoid the smell by breathing through her mouth. She simply tasted the smell.

“Hello,” she spoke up, and the troll and ogres looked at her with surprise.

They all stood up and panicked slightly. The ogres simply looked at her and started to shiver with something. While the troll stood up and looked at her as if he had never seen a woman before. He probably hadn’t, all things considered.

He walked over and reached out with his filth covered hand. Momonga scowled at the large brute and swatted his hand aside with her own. He reared back from the blow. It had torn open part of his hand; it was so powerful. The troll seemed confused by this.

The ogres, meanwhile, simply looked on. Their expressions painted with disbelief and shock. The troll, given that all trolls had super healing, had healed from the blow. Still, he looked on as if his whole world had shattered.

“Don’t touch me,” Momonga said simply, and the troll nodded his head, “go to your ruler and tell him that the ruler of the, “Monument of Ruin,” wishes to speak with him,” she explained.

The troll ran away from her then, rushing into the other cavern. She sighed at this, and looked down to Aura. The little girl simply shrugged her shoulders at the trolls reaction as well. Momonga didn’t think that she hit him that hard.

Though, that was the main reason that the troll had been staggered. Trolls had rather high pain tolerances. They also had some pretty high defenses. So, when she gored his hand, the troll had been shocked. It didn’t help that nothing had ever reacted like that whenever any troll had picked something up. They mostly just stood there in fear.

After a minute or two, the two of them headed into the room that the troll had run into. There, their eyes were greeted by a rather large group of trolls. There were some blue trolls, some green trolls. Yet, there was a singular troll in the front and center.

His skin was dark green; it looked greyer than anything. Though, Momonga doubted anyone cared. Over one shoulder, a large skull of some creature that she didn’t recognize. His waist was covered in a grey pelt that wrapped around his waist.

He simply stood there, grumbling as she looked upon him. She was about to speak, when she saw something, a naga, out of the corner of her eye. She turned fully to face him, his grey scales obvious to her. When she locked eyes with him, he stopped squirming in place, as he had been doing that.

He stopped utterly, in fact. She frowned, unsure of what he was trying to do. Then it occurred to her that he was trying to be invisible. Whatever spell he used wasn’t working on her. Aura didn’t seem to be having trouble either.

“I can see you,” she said simply, her eyes keeping track of the large naga.

He stiffened even further at that. She simply shook her head. She then turned to Aura, then spoke.

“Aura, could you grab that naga and make sure that he doesn’t leave?” she asked, and the girl nodded her head and ran over to the thing.

The naga tried to escape, and failed. Aura soon arrived right by his side, and grabbed his throat. The naga screamed at this, and tried to strangle her with his tail, or lower body. This soon failed as well, and he soon stopped after she brushed his tail out of her face.

Momonga nodded at this, and turned to the completely silent Troll. She had no idea what kind of troll he was. She was fairly certain that he was some kind of war troll. Yggdrasil had all kinds of races, she was uncertain that the game didn’t have a war troll race.

“Why human here?!” it yelled out as it then started to lean forward towards her as some kind of intimidation.

She simply frowned at this. She wasn’t human, but an undead. Was this troll too stupid to realize that?

“I’m undead, I just have meat on my bones. I’m assuming that you’re the, Giant of The East,” and the naga is, “The Demon Snake of The West?” she asked, and the naga nodded his head.

“I am called the Giant of the East by weaker foes! My true name is Mighty, tremble, little woman! I am the mighty Guu! Why are you here!” the troll boasted.

“I am the leader of the Monument of Ruin, and my name is Momonga,” she introduced herself as politely as she could.

Soon after she said that, Guu smiled, and reared back his head as he began to laugh. The other trolls joined in on this. Soon, the entire cavern was filled with laughter. Guu soon stopped though, and pointed to her with a dirty, meaty finger.

“Women cannot be leader! Women weak!” He joked, and began to laugh again.

She simply sighed. Stretching out her hand, and flexing her magic. She was very much about to enjoy this. This troll was obviously useless. She glanced at the naga out of the corner of her eye. He may have some uses, though.
