Chapter 52: Killing a Vampire
Our movements were incredibly fast, almost impossible for ordinary human eyes to follow. Our bodies flashed across the rooftop, changing positions in the blink of an eye, leaving faint afterimages behind as if we had not truly disappeared from those spots yet.
The night wind roared every time our bodies moved, while the air around us trembled whenever our blows collided or narrowly missed each other by only a few centimeters.
The pressure from the impact of our strength even spread across the rooftop’s surface, creating short booming sounds that continuously echoed through the silent night.
Because our strength was nearly equal, this fight lasted a little longer than I had expected. Neither of us could bring the other down with a single simple attack.
The battle continued fiercely without pause. Fists, elbows, and kicks were exchanged at a rapid pace, forcing my body to stay completely focused every second. In a situation like this, even the smallest mistake could immediately turn fatal.
However, I was fully aware of one important thing—I could not afford to drag this out.
As long as the black-haired vampire was still trying to free himself, I only had a limited amount of time to finish this fight. Every second that passed would only reduce my chances further.
I briefly glanced toward the black-haired vampire. The man was still violently tearing apart the web covering his head, and from his movements alone, it was already clear that his strength was continuing to increase.
If that man managed to fully break free, the situation would become far worse.
So this had to end now.
In the middle of the fast-paced battle, I suddenly remembered something important from information I had once read in Marvel comics about how to kill vampires.
One of the most effective methods was decapitation—separating the head directly from the body. That was probably the only thing I could do right now under these circumstances.
I began changing the rhythm of my attacks, no longer simply exchanging direct blows like before. This time, I slowly started luring my opponent instead.
My movements became more controlled and far calmer. Every step started being calculated carefully.
I adjusted the distance, controlled the tempo of the fight, and slowly forced the blond-haired man to follow the flow of battle that I wanted.
Every attack I launched was not only meant to injure him, but also to create an opening. My eyes continuously read the man’s reactions, observing his movement patterns, the direction of his attacks, and how he defended himself whenever pressure was applied.
I waited for the right moment while continuing to move without giving my opponent any chance to read my intentions.
And finally, that opening appeared.
In one nearly imperceptible moment, my position instantly shifted behind the man.
My movement was fast and smooth, almost completely silent, like a shadow slipping directly behind his body without being noticed.
Before the blond-haired vampire could react, my arm had already wrapped around his neck, my grip tightening without the slightest hesitation.
I choked the man forcefully, crushing his neck tightly while restricting all movement from his body.
My arm locked firmly around his neck, making sure he could not escape easily.
The man immediately struggled violently. His body twisted hard within my grip while both of his hands tried to grab and forcibly pry my arm away.
The vampire’s strength was obvious. The pressure from his body was great enough to make the muscles in my arms tense intensely as I restrained him, and several times my body was slightly pushed back because of his resistance.
However, I did not loosen my grip even slightly. Instead, I strengthened the hold with all the power I had, locking his body in place as tightly as possible so he would have no room to fight back effectively.
My jaw clenched tightly while the muscles throughout my entire body tensed completely as I endured the vampire’s resistance.
Second after second slowly passed.
The man’s resistance gradually began to weaken. His movements, which were originally wild and full of strength, started slowing down little by little. His struggles were no longer as powerful as before, and his body slowly began losing balance within my grip.
Until finally, the man’s movements completely stopped.
His body lost all strength and hung limply in my grasp.
Without waiting any longer, I immediately acted.
My hand quickly shifted position, tightly gripping his head. My fingers pressed down hard to ensure complete control over the man’s body.
With one fast and brutal movement, I violently twisted the man’s neck with all my strength.
A cracking sound rang out clearly, dry and sharp in the middle of the silent night.
But I did not stop there.
Using all the strength I had left, I pulled his head as hard as possible. The muscles in my arm instantly tightened, my breath halted for a moment, and with one powerful yank—the vampire’s head was finally torn away from its body, brutally separated in one decisive motion.
Blood burst out under intense pressure, warm and thick, spraying high into the air before scattering across the cold and hard rooftop surface.
The dark red liquid lightly splashed against the rough concrete, while some of it slowly flowed through the cracks in the rooftop floor already soaked with blood.
The metallic scent instantly filled my senses, sharp and suffocating, mixing with the cold night air and making the atmosphere feel even heavier. The night wind blew softly across the rooftop, carrying the spreading smell of blood into the air.
The headless body still staggered for a brief moment, its steps unstable as if it had completely lost all sense of direction and balance, before finally collapsing helplessly with a heavy impact that echoed faintly through the silence of the night.
The man’s movements stopped completely. There was no sign of life left in his body anymore, only a lifeless corpse now lying motionless on the cold rooftop floor.
The severed head remained in my grasp, feeling heavy as it slowly lost its warmth little by little. Blood still dripped slowly from the torn neck, soaking my fingers with thick, warm liquid that felt sticky against my skin.
The man’s eyes were empty and lifeless, his gaze frozen with an expression that had not even fully accepted the death that came far too quickly. That face became clear proof that one enemy had truly met his end by my hands.
I released the head without hesitation, letting it fall directly onto the rooftop floor with a dull sound that echoed softly yet clearly within the silent atmosphere.
My focus was not distracted by it at all, because the remaining threat was far more dangerous and impossible to ignore.
Before I could even take a long breath, the situation suddenly changed once again without giving me even a moment to relax.
The other vampire finally managed to rip the net off his head violently. Several strands still hung from his hair, shoulders, and arms, swaying slightly in the cold night wind.
The black-haired man stared directly at me. His eyes widened for a brief moment, clearly shocked by what had just happened to his companion. The vampire’s gaze was filled with disbelief that he had not even managed to hide yet.
However, that expression did not last long.
Within only a few seconds, the shock on the man’s face transformed into overwhelming rage that felt far more oppressive. His eyes sharpened intensely, filled with unmistakable killing intent that made the atmosphere around us feel even heavier.
The aura surrounding the man changed drastically, as if even the night air itself had tensed in response to the emotions radiating from him. That invisible pressure instantly put all my instincts on full alert without needing another moment to think.
