MHA: Dark Matter

Chapter 50 50: A Fun Party

[Engel Wilfried'S Pov]

"Ladies and gentlemen, from this moment on, you are all our hostages."

Wolfram spoke to the panicking crowd of people, who were staring fearfully at the bound heroes and the gun barrels of his subordinates aimed at them. A man in a blue leotard who had been about to say something was silenced by a kick from a combat boot to the face. Grinning widely behind his iron mask at the sight of the hero spitting out teeth, the villain headed toward All Might, who was trying to tear apart the blue capture ribbons.

"Don't bother resisting. All the people on the island are our hostages. As long as you obey my orders, everything will be fine, and this day will only be remembered as an unpleasant incident. So you can rest, All Might."

The number one hero, who had fallen to the floor from the blow, gritted his teeth in helplessness. As soon as Wolfram contacted his subordinates from the island's central control room, the hero glanced into the hall, where a bespectacled man with curly hair shook his head negatively.

Wolfram pretended not to notice their exchange, finally finding his target. The elderly, light haired man cowered in fear as the villain approached.

"You're coming with me."

"Why do you need my assistant?"

Feeling satisfaction at the performance, the yellow eyed villain looked at the speaker with feigned surprise.

"Oh, oh, it's the famous David Shield! What an honor!"

"I asked you again. Why do you need my assistant?"

"Don't worry, you'll find out soon enough. The two of you will be just enough for this task."

Wolfram said cheerfully, pointing his pistol at the scientist.

"Elephant, proceed with the next phase of the program. You, follow me."

His first deputy, Peter, who had taken the callsign Elephant for the duration of the mission, nodded and began reading out a list of people who needed to be sent to another location.

Leaving the hall with his "employers," Wolfram smiled. Everything was going according to plan.

"Attention! Intruders! Intru…"

The robot sparked as it was crushed by a blow from All Might's successor. These "nightstand" security robots could cause problems for an ordinary civilian on their own, but they didn't come at us one by one. Fortunately, the Class 1A students were taking them out in droves, so I didn't have to get involved. But that didn't make me want to kill the terrorists who had captured the entire I Island any less.

Instead of spending time with my friend, I had to help the larval heroes save the island from villains because all the other heroes, along with All Might and the island's security, had screwed up. Damn. Why couldn't I just stand aside and not care about anyone but myself? Because all three of the people I cared about were in this "suicide squad." Izuku was understandable. I genuinely didn't want my idol's daughter to die, and Melissa, knowing the tower's layout and wanting to save her father, was leading our squad. Damn.

"Ora, ora, ora!"

"Die, tin cans!"

The shouts and explosions ahead immediately alerted us to the presence of our lost comrades. As we ran around the corner, I had to deflect a piece of debris from an exploded robot that was flying toward Melissa. The blond with spiky hair was even confused for a second by our sudden appearance.

"Hey, four eyes, what the hell is going on here? Why are these tin cans attacking us?"

"Bakugo, how can you use such foul language…"

"Kacchan, the villains have taken over the security system's control center and taken everyone hostage. We need to reboot the security system to save everyone."

"Don't give me orders, Deku."

The circus had left, but the clowns had stayed. Damn.

I glanced at a camera on the ceiling. We were on the eightieth floor, and our "suicide squad" hadn't been caught yet, even though our presence had been detected at least by the seventieth. This suggested that the villains hadn't fully figured out the security system, because under normal operation, it could capture anyone except those comparable in strength to a country's top ten heroes.

Swoosh

I quickly grabbed Melissa, who was running with me at the back, and pulled her out from under a closing steel partition. A similar one had closed in front of Midoriya, who was running first. Now we were standing near the entrance to a greenhouse, according to my memory of the tower's map. It seemed they wanted us to look at the flowers, and the partitions had been closed so we wouldn't get lost.

"Hey, kids, heroics are forbidden today, so stand still and let the robots catch you."

A rather squeaky voice came from a tall, thin man in military uniform. Another, shorter man in a similar uniform stood next to him.

"Looks like these are our tour guides."

I said ironically, carefully examining the "nightstand" robots that were appearing and looking for a way out.

"Die!"

"Hmm."

Butthurt rushed forward, accompanied by a mass of ice from Two Tone.

"Don't you dare underestimate us!"

The short man turned into a purple giant and roared. In an instant, the ice was destroyed, and Kirishima, who had been shielding Butthurt, crashed into a wall with a crash. I noticed the other villain's swollen neck and grabbed my friend to move out of the way…

"Tsk tsk tsk tsk."

…and stumbled from the pain in my ears. The purple giant lunged toward us while Bakugo was distracted defending against the robots. Time slowed down. The Class 1A students were just recovering from the sound attack, but they should have time to dodge. All except one. The girl with dark purple hair and earphone jacks instead of earlobes clutched her head as blood seeped between her fingers. Damn.

I'm not a hero.

I ran toward her, letting the bandages unwind from my arms.

Damn.

I'm not a hero. I shouldn't be saving anyone.

The girl's eyes widened in fear as the purple giant drew back for a punch.

I pushed.

I'm a villain.

I pushed Kyoka Jiro out of the way with my body. I took the blow on a sliding block, letting its force spin my body.

I'm a villain. I do what I want, regardless of the law and society.

I let my body make a few rotations to build up momentum and kicked the villain in the jaw, subtly using a weak "Rejection."

So why?

I pushed off his arm and ended up above the giant's head.

Why do I so badly want these larval heroes not to die?

I wrapped my bandages around the disoriented giant's neck and pulled my arms toward myself. I repositioned my feet and pulled with my whole body as the giant tried to reach me with his hands. A few seconds later, he went limp and fell to the ground unconscious. Everyone else, even the thin man, stared at me as I jumped down.

"Impossible!"

That squeaky voice was really annoying. I modestly spread my arms.

"He just didn't know kung fu."

That answer seemed to short circuit something in the man's brain, and a moment later, the distracted villain was blown up by Bakugo. The other Class 1A students finally remembered that they were surrounded by local robotics products and that we didn't have much time.

"Go ahead, we'll catch up after we destroy the robots and get Kirishima out."

Two Tone said quietly, glancing at the pile of rubble from the wall where "Hard Head" had landed. Soon, an ice platform began to lift us up toward the skybridge. I tried my best to ignore the others' stares as I imagined how shamelessly I would be talking about the coolness and epicness of my martial arts section, especially my trainer. Oh, Derek, forgive me for the possible attention from Class 1A. And for the "fork in the eye" joke.

Well, I'll save that for later. For now, the "save everyone" suicide squad's worst enemy lay ahead. The stairs.
