the magical girls of war: Obsessive Tendencies

Chapter 37: The Spin Cycle

Pink looked down at Miss Marcy, who was currently lying flat on the pavement, completely unconscious from face-planting into the tank.

She then turned her gaze back to Hopeless. The dark knight was slowly forcing himself to his feet, barely recovering from the stop-sign incident. He glared at Marcy's unconscious body, his voice trembling with sheer rage. "You...!!!"

Before he could even finish his threat, he felt the air shift violently at his side. He instinctively dove out of the way just as Pink swung her massive magical mallet right through the space his head had been.

"Oof... I missed," Pink noted cheerfully.

Suki immediately followed up, her black katana flashing as she slashed at his exposed flank. Hopeless ducked underneath the blade, trying to spin into a swift counterattack. But Suki was already gone-she leaped backward into the air, swinging her sword mid-glide.

Hopeless brought his red blade up just in time to block it. CLANG! "Impressive..." he muttered.

With a surge of dark energy, he pushed her back. Suki flipped in mid-air, landed gracefully on her boots, and instantly dropped back into her iron-clad battle stance.

Meanwhile, inside the vehicle, the three soldiers were watching the supernatural martial arts display in absolute, speechless awe.

Tom slowly lowered his binoculars. "Bianca... start the tank. We are leaving. Right now."

Bianca turned around from the dashboard, offering a sheepish, apologetic look. "Sorry, Boss... the engine messed up again."

Tom stared at her, his eye twitching. "This is only the second time we have ever driven this particular tank!!?"

Bianca nodded solemnly. "Yep. And it is proving to be just as unreliable as the last one."

Ari let out a long sigh, leaning back in her seat. "Eh... that's alright, I guess. I'll just stay here and watch the show."

Tom did not like that plan at all. He looked up at the hatch, then back at his crew. "Let's just... let the monsters fight the other monsters for now." He reached up, pulled the heavy metal hatch shut, and securely locked it from the inside.

Back on the street, Pink and Suki were now moving in perfect tandem, tag-teaming Hopeless. The dark knight was completely delighted, a mad grin on his face as he parried, dodged, and countered the flurry of hammer strikes and sword slashes.

"This... is the most exciting fight I've had in ages!!" Hopeless roared, thoroughly enjoying the chaos.

He decided to press his advantage, spinning around to deliver a powerful, heavy kick straight to Pink's ribs.

It was a terrible mistake.

Pink didn't even try to dodge. She literally just took the full force of the hit. Her body didn't move an inch.

Hopeless froze, his leg still extended against her side, his face twisting into an expression of utter, profound confusion.

Pink smirked dangerously, her pink eyes gleaming. Before he could pull away, she reached down, grabbed his ankle in a vice grip, and began to twirl him around in a giant, rapid circle. After a few high-speed rotations, she let go, sending the dark knight flying like a rocket straight through the walls of two nearby buildings.

Suki slowly lowered her katana, staring at Pink in genuine shock. "You are absolutely terrifying."

Pink proudly puffed her frilly chest out, resting her mallet on her shoulder. "Thank you!"

Suki shook her head, her expression entirely deadpan. "That... was not a compliment."
