the magical girls of war: Obsessive Tendencies

Chapter 36: Skip the Monologue

The girls all stared at the dark swordsman. Slowly, Maya reached behind her back, her fingers gripping the empty air.

The man smiled, adjusting his stance. "Okay... so you are actually not amateurs. That is refreshing!"

A massive, heavy-duty rocket launcher materialized into Maya's hands, a chaotic grin spreading wide across her face.

The man raised his red katana, his voice dropping into a deep, dramatic register. "I am a dark knight.

My name is Hopeless. And today, I will be—"

BOOM!!

Maya shot him mid-sentence.

As the dark smoke swirled around the impact zone, she smoothly reloaded another heavy projectile and pulled the trigger again.

BOOM!!

Hopeless walked right out of the fiery blast, aggressively brushing ash off his shoulders. He looked incredibly angry. "You insufferable woman!!" he roared.

BOOM!!

A third rocket slammed directly into his chest. Maya laughed maniacally, the heavy weapon resting on her shoulder. "I don't even care if you're still standing, I just love doing that! Less talk, more action!!"

Pink looked over at Maya, completely delighted. "You dare hit a villain while he is villain-monologuing?! Good! I am incredibly proud of you!"

Maya smirked proudly. "Yep... when I see dialogue in games, I just hit the skip button!"

Suddenly, an enraged Hopeless lunged forward, closing the distance to Maya in a blur. Maya didn't even flinch—she swung the massive, empty rocket launcher like a baseball bat, cracking him right across the side of his head.

But mid-air, Hopeless recovered. He executed a sharp upward kick, catching Maya right under the chin and sending her flying backward into a nearby building.

Alice saw this and said you guys go on i'll... I'll try to find Maya and help her!

She pulled a pencil from her pocket, quickly sketched a door onto the wall of a nearby building, then casually opened it as though it were real. She stepped through.

The door vanished.

The girls looked at it.

Pink said I'm not even sure we're in real life anymore...

Miss Marcy screeched in absolute terror. Spotting her breakdown, Hopeless turned his gaze to her and jumped through the air, his red blade raised. "I think I should get rid of the screamer first!" he yelled.

However, in her sheer, unadulterated panic, Miss Marcy desperately grabbed a metal stop sign on the sidewalk. With pure, adrenaline-fueled magical strength, she ripped the entire post out of the concrete and swung it blindly.

Hopeless was absolutely not expecting that.

The heavy, solid concrete base at the bottom of the sign swung upward, striking him directly in the groin.

The dark knight instantly dropped to his knees. His face turned a deep, agonizing shade of purple. "You... damn...

just you... wait... nngh..." he wheezed, curling into a ball.

Miss Marcy sniffled, wiping a tear from her eye as she held the giant stop sign. "That's what you get for scaring me!"

Huffed and entirely overwhelmed, she turned around to walk away—and marched face-first right into the side of Tom's tank. A loud, metallic DING! echoed down the street as she plopped backward onto the pavement.

"Ow..." she muttered from the ground.
