Chapter 88: Sweep Operation, Dragon’s Nest

This was the power of the destruction domain belonging to the Seven-Headed Dragon.

Wherever the domain passed, the air twisted, the earth split apart, and even holy light was forcibly distorted and devoured.

Carrying an aura of absolute destruction, the domain swept across the entire battlefield in an instant, even spilling into parts of the outer swamp.

The kobolds kneeling on the ground were reduced to dust the moment the black light brushed past them.

Large sections of the swamp collapsed. Lava erupted even more violently, and even the sky was stained an eerie pitch-black color.

That destructive domain power slammed viciously into the holy light barrier surrounding the four-winged angel, and cracks instantly spread across the barrier.

The sacred radiance flickered violently. The four-winged angel suddenly coughed out a mouthful of holy blood, its body trembling intensely. The cracks in its holy armor multiplied, and its wings were scorched black by the domain's power. It had clearly suffered severe injuries, and its aura weakened dramatically in an instant.

Even so, there was not the slightest trace of retreat in the four-winged angel's eyes—only eternal conviction.

Just like "Ironbone," the Dragonblood Kobold synthesized by Levi through Synthesis.

For the will of their creator, they could offer up everything.

The four-winged angel was the same.

It gazed at the Seven-Headed Dragon, now consumed by madness and radiating destruction, then slowly closed its eyes and began chanting its final holy words.

The holy light surrounding its body erupted violently, and its sacred aura climbed to its absolute peak.

The four-winged angel was preparing to stake everything on this attack.

Or rather—

Burn itself away.

It chose to burn its holy body and holy power, transforming them into a mass of incomparably blazing sacred flame that wrapped around the Christ Sword.

The sacred flames roared.

At last, they fully unleashed the power of the Christ Sword and pushed it to its limit.

The golden radiance on the blade became increasingly dazzling, even overwhelming the darkness of the domain itself, radiating a power capable of purifying all evil.

The four-winged angel's body gradually became transparent within the sacred flames, yet it still used the last of its strength to raise the Christ Sword high into the air before bringing it crashing down toward the Seven-Headed Dragon's only remaining head.

The silent divine power tore through the dragon's domain barrier as easily as ripping through paper.

It ignored the dragon's pitch-black, incomparably tough scales and struck directly into the dragon's skull.

BOOM—!

A world-shaking explosion erupted.

The sacred flames instantly engulfed the dragon's body, burning both its flesh and soul.

The Seven-Headed Dragon—now reduced to a single remaining head—let out an agonized scream filled with absolute misery.

A horrifying wound deep enough to expose bone split open across its remaining head, the injury stretching all the way across its body.

Pitch-black dragon blood mixed with sacred flames as it poured out, and the domain power instantly fell into chaos before collapsing entirely.

Its body convulsed violently and rapidly shrank.

In the end, it transformed into a completely naked young man with extraordinarily handsome features and pupils as black as the abyss, radiating a sinister and seductive aura.

A deep, bone-revealing wound remained across his body.

He did not even glance at the four-winged angel.

Instead, he gathered the remaining power of the domain into a mass of black light that wrapped around his body before fleeing into the distance.

He had not lost to the four-winged angel.

He had lost to the holy relic—the Christ Sword.

As for the four-winged angel, after dealing a devastating blow to the Seven-Headed Dragon, its form within the sacred flames gradually dimmed as well.

With its final glance, it swept its gaze across Hornreach.

Yet it still found nothing.

A trace of strange emotion flickered through its eyes before its body slowly dissolved into nothingness and merged into the Christ Sword.

The holy crystal embedded in the Christ Sword suddenly flashed brightly.

The sword transformed into a streak of light and chased after the direction in which the Seven-Headed Dragon had disappeared.

Black light and holy light streaked across the sky.

Day and night seemed to alternate.

No one knew how much time passed.

The black light gradually dimmed before crashing onto a mountain and transforming back into the handsome young man.

The holy light descended shortly afterward, revealing the Christ Sword.

The blade pierced into a spot atop the mountain, forming an invisible holy barrier that trapped the handsome young man—the Seven-Headed Dragon—within it.

"You cannot imprison me forever!" the handsome young man roared furiously. "One day, I will break through this seal and reduce everything you protect to ruins!"

In the blink of an eye, he transformed back into the form of the dragon once more.

The wound remained unchanged, while the six severed heads had only regrown into fleshy tumors and had yet to fully recover.

The Christ Sword gave no response whatsoever.

Just like the four-winged angel before it.

The Seven-Headed Dragon's only remaining head immediately darkened with fury.

Meanwhile—

The Pope within the Lateran Palace looked pale. Clearly, the burden of using the Holy Descent to summon the four-winged angel had been enormous.

The lament of angels echoed around him.

It was the sign that the four-winged angel had fallen.

He remained silent for a while.

Then, as if guided by divine revelation, an image appeared within his mind—

The pitch-black Seven-Headed Dragon soaring through the sky, and a figure drawing the Christ Sword to oppose it.

Sensing this holy revelation, the Pope murmured softly, "When darkness appears once more, the child chosen by fate shall descend."

...

Outside the Mist Swamp.

While everyone was still trapped in shock from the battle between the dragon and the angel, Levi stared at the devastated Mist Swamp, his eyes flickering slightly.

A moment of hesitation appeared on his face.

But in the end, he made up his mind.

Transforming into the Human-Faced Demon Owl, he flew toward the depths of the Mist Swamp.

Gathering Technique!

Gathering Technique!

Gathering Technique!

"..."

Levi repeatedly activated Gathering Technique.

Dragon Blood, Dragon Scales, Angel Dust, and all kinds of other materials scattered throughout the Mist Swamp were continuously collected by him.

He was like the most dedicated cleaner imaginable—unwilling to leave behind even the slightest fragment.

These were priceless treasures.

Materials taken from the Seven-Headed Dragon and the Four-Winged Angel were undoubtedly far beyond the Third-Order in quality.

From the Dragon Blood alone, Levi collected dozens of barrels, totaling several thousand liters altogether.

Even after being separated from the Seven-Headed Dragon's body for so long, the blood still possessed astonishing vitality and could fuse with other living organisms.

"No wonder there are so many legends about people bathing in dragon blood and gaining overwhelming power?"

"Dragonblood warriors?"

"But if that's the case, then while they gain a certain kind of power, they're also contaminated by the dragon's nature."

"Half-dragons?"

Levi had no intention of polluting his own body, so he had no plans to bathe in dragon blood.

Still, dragon blood was an incomparably precious alchemical material. After researching it further, Levi planned to see whether there was a better method of absorbing the power within dragon blood.

But at that moment, Levi encountered a problem.

Storage.

The high-tier containers he had synthesized through Synthesis could not withstand the power of the dragon blood. They were already being corroded by it.

If the blood leaked out, then all of Levi's efforts would have been wasted.

Yet these containers were already the highest-tier products his current Synthesis could create.

If even these were insufficient, Levi truly had no idea what to do for the moment.

Unless—

He could find even better materials.

These containers had been directly synthesized using Third-Ring Spell-level Synthesis.

However, Synthesis also had another application: using existing materials as a foundation for synthesis.

Doing so would greatly reduce Levi's magic power consumption, while the quality of the resulting item would also be heavily tied to the strength of the source materials.

At that moment, Levi suddenly thought of a place he had completely overlooked.

The place where the Seven-Headed Dragon had previously slumbered.

As a professional battlefield looter, how could Levi possibly ignore such an important location?

Human waste, to the microorganisms of the sea, was like heavenly rain descending from above.

Creatures like dragons—especially legendary beings such as the Seven-Headed Dragon, creatures that even carried divinity—would inevitably leave behind unimaginable treasures in the places where they had slept for thousands of years.

To Levi, that made him no different from one of those microorganisms.

There was no way he could let such treasures go to waste.

...Well, he could not simply abandon them.

In truth, Levi saw it this way—

Everyone knew that anything left behind by a dragon would be treasure.

Which meant people would inevitably swarm toward it and slaughter one another searching for the dragon's hoard.

But if nobody could find the dragon's "treasure," then the killing would naturally decrease as well.

In that sense, Levi would indirectly be saving countless lives.

Maybe not a deed of immeasurable merit—

But it still counted as doing something good, right?

"That's right!"

Levi's eyes became firm as he convinced himself of this.

For the sake of future adventurers everywhere, Levi decided he would take absolutely everything the dragon had left behind.

Even the dragon's dung and urine.

Assuming such things existed.

With that thought in mind, Levi entered the enormous crater left behind by the explosion.

This place had originally been a sulfur pool. Later, the explosion transformed it into a gigantic crater, and one of the Seven-Headed Dragon's heads had emerged from within it.

Levi himself did not know this.

But his Detection had already identified the safe passage for him.

Following that route deeper inside, he eventually discovered the entrance to the underground cavern hidden deep within the cracks of the crater.

It was buried beneath thick volcanic rock and hardened magma, leaving behind only a narrow passage that radiated overwhelming evil and scorching heat.

There was likely a volcano beneath this swamp.

Perhaps dormant.

Perhaps still active.

But it had been suppressed by the Seven-Headed Dragon.

That was also why the deeper regions of the Mist Swamp had higher water temperatures, constantly steaming with heat and carrying a strong sulfurous smell.

However, Levi had already observed the area using Detection.

After being stirred up by the Seven-Headed Dragon, the magma beneath the swamp had once again fallen silent.

Barring accidents, there would likely be no volcanic eruption here for several thousand years.

As these thoughts passed through his mind, Levi carefully observed the interior of the passageway.

The inner walls of the tunnel were covered in black dragon-scale marks—the traces left behind by the dragon's thousand-year slumber.

Touching them produced a faint burning pain.

That was the lingering power left behind by the dragon.

After walking through the tunnel for dozens of minutes, the space before him suddenly opened up.

A gigantic cavern appeared ahead, vast enough to rival several football fields combined.

An even stronger—and fouler—dragon's breath rushed toward him.

Without question—

This was the lair where the Seven-Headed Dragon had slumbered.

Standing outside the cavern, Levi swept his gaze across the area.

Only after confirming there was no danger did he slowly step inside.
