After resolving Nightingale Miss Odelle's situation, Levi had been continuously practicing another spell that had already reached Level 5—Wizard's Hand.
He was not merely practicing for practice's sake. In reality, he had been secretly using Wizard's Hand to help develop the territory.
For example, constructing a circular wall to block off the Mist Swamp required digging a fairly deep foundation.
It was a massive undertaking. Yalina had mobilized a great deal of manpower, but the progress was still only barely satisfactory.
It was not that they were slow—only that they were nowhere near as fast as Levi and Yalina wanted.
And so, Levi secretly stepped in behind the scenes.
One had to know that a single Wizard's Hand could lift more than five tons, and Levi could maintain several Wizard's Hands simultaneously. He was practically a highly flexible excavator.
With their assistance, the speed of foundation excavation increased dramatically. After that came pouring the cement.
By then, Levi had already gone elsewhere to "shine and generate heat."
For instance, inside the coal mines, at the limestone veins, or extracting clay...
The entire territory's construction speed felt as though someone had pressed the fast-forward button.
And the growth speed of Levi's Wizard's Hand was equally explosive.
[Your Wizard's Hand has reached the upgrade requirements and can now level up.]
At this point, only four days had passed since he removed the curse from Nightingale Miss Odelle.
Six days had passed since his last intelligence detection.
And only four days remained before the arrival of the Kobold Disaster.
All of that flashed through Levi's mind in an instant as he looked toward the spell crystal floating within his Sea of Souls.
"Upgrade."
The moment the thought surfaced, the familiar transformation occurred once more.
A brand-new Wizard's Hand spell crystal appeared within his Sea of Souls.
At this point, Levi now possessed three Third-Ring Spells within his Sea of Souls.
The previous two Third-Ring Spells had already brought Levi no small amount of surprise.
So what kind of power would this new Third-Ring Spell bring him?
Levi was filled with anticipation as his consciousness touched the new Third-Ring spell crystal.
A wave of understanding emerged in his mind.
A Third-Ring Spell—or rather, LV6 Wizard's Hand—had its normal strength surge past ten tons. But that was not all. If Levi unleashed it at full power, the force it produced could exceed one hundred tons.
At the same time, Levi could now split Wizard's Hand into even more copies simultaneously. With his current Spiritual Power, he could divide it into twenty Wizard's Hands at once. Although each individual hand would become somewhat weaker, their coverage range far surpassed that of the Second-Ring version.
But even that was not the true highlight.
Third-Ring Wizard's Hand had gained an additional ability.
Restraint.
When it enveloped a target, it generated an overwhelming restraining force that made escape extremely difficult.
That was the true power of Third-Ring Wizard's Hand.
'So this is it... Third Ring really is the beginning of a complete transformation,' Levi thought to himself.
And because of the effects of this Third-Ring Wizard's Hand, a certain idea suddenly formed in his mind.
Seeing that more than half of his Magic Power still remained, his eyes flickered slightly as he cast Synthesis—still only at the level of a Second-Ring Spell.
A flash of light appeared.
Twenty refined steel longswords materialized in midair.
They hovered motionlessly in the air, as though held aloft by an invisible giant hand.
Levi swept his gaze across them, and one refined steel longsword immediately flew into his grasp.
He inspected the blade carefully.
To knights, this would have been considered an exceptionally fine weapon.
Yet disappointment appeared in Levi's eyes.
"The quality is still too poor. Is this the limit of Second-Ring Synthesis?" Levi thought.
"It seems I'll need to raise Synthesis to the Third Ring before it can create weapons capable of threatening high-tier magical beasts or high-tier wizards."
Levi shook his head.
"Unfortunately, there's no time left now."
In truth, if he fused a magical item with one of these swords through Synthesis, the weapon could instantly become a magical longsword. That was something Second-Ring Synthesis was already capable of doing.
But there was no longer any need for that.
Levi gathered all the refined steel longswords together, then sat cross-legged on the bed, closed his eyes, and began meditating to restore his Magic Power.
His Magic Power pool recovered far faster than before.
Needless to say, this was because the appearance of a new Third-Ring Spell had strengthened his Sea of Souls.
Previously, fully restoring his Magic Power required one to two hours.
Now, it only took about an hour for his Magic Power to recover almost completely.
Of course, that was also because he had only just entered the level of a Third-Ring Wizard, and his Spiritual Power had not yet fully developed, meaning his total Magic Power was still relatively limited.
Once his strength reached the middle or later stages of the Third Ring, his Magic Power recovery speed would naturally slow down.
But correspondingly, his strength at that point would be incomparable to what it was now.
Levi opened his eyes.
A streak of blue light flashed across them as he activated Detection.
The Church's high-tier Inquisitor, Karen—who should have arrived at Hornreach yesterday—still had not located Levi because Levi had used an unclean ritual to sever the divine art that allowed the man to track him.
At the moment, the Inquisitor had only reached the neighboring Silverclaw Territory.
"Perfect."
Levi raised a hand as Third-Ring Wizard's Hand activated.
"Swords."
The twenty refined steel longswords instantly assembled into a gigantic sword that flew beneath Levi's feet, carrying him like a shooting star into the vast night sky as he sped straight toward Silverclaw Territory.
"You don't need to come looking for me anymore."
"I'll come find you first!"
...
Ashenearth Ridge.
A barren hill covered entirely in pale gray gravel, devoid of dense vegetation and utterly unremarkable in appearance.
It stood at the edge of Silverclaw Territory, close to Levi's Hornreach.
Karen, the Church Inquisition's high-tier Inquisitor, had lit a bonfire and was resting with his eyes closed.
The divine art connection had been severed.
He became even more convinced that the wizard lurking in the darkness was no ordinary figure.
And so, he did not give up. Instead, he followed the vague sensation from before all the way here.
And the closer he came, the stronger that feeling became. He believed it was the Lord's guidance, and became increasingly certain that he was on the right path.
Suddenly—
An intense sense of danger surged through Karen's heart.
He raised his head and saw streaks of silver light shooting toward him beneath the clear night sky like meteors.
"Heretic!"
White Holy Light emerged within Karen's eyes, allowing him to clearly see Levi behind the silver streaks.
"So you came to me yourself!"
Karen showed no fear whatsoever.
"Holy Light!"
A beam of holy radiance descended from the night sky, forming a Holy Light Shield around his body and making him appear like a divine messenger.
The refined steel longswords controlled by Levi's Wizard's Hand carved sharp streaks of cold light through the night sky, forming a sword formation as they shot toward the Holy Light Shield from every direction, attempting to shatter it.
And hidden behind the swords was Levi's true killing move:
The restraining ability unique to Third-Ring Wizard's Hand.
He intended to completely immobilize this high-tier Inquisitor from the Church in a single strike.
However, dazzling Holy Light erupted from Karen's body, and his voice rang clearly from within the white radiance.
"O Lord, let me burn away the sins of this world."
Flames of Heretic Judgment!
A mass of white flames carrying an overwhelming sacred aura suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
A terrifying suction force instantly erupted from it, dragging all twenty of Levi's refined steel longswords into the flames, where they melted into streams of molten iron that dripped onto the ground.
But that was not the end.
The Flames of Heretic Judgment seemed almost alive.
They locked directly onto Levi himself, forming a blazing fireball that slammed into him in an instant.
"Restrain!"
Levi activated Third-Ring Wizard's Hand, attempting to imprison the white fireball.
But the white fireball merely trembled for a moment before continuing to crash toward Levi with unstoppable force.
In the blink of an eye, Levi's entire body became engulfed in white flames, turning him into a human torch.
The gap in strength between the two sides was simply too great.
Even though Levi possessed multiple Third-Ring Spells, his Magic Power was only slightly stronger than that of a Second-Ring Wizard. As a result, the true power of his Third-Ring Spells was heavily restricted, preventing them from displaying their full potential.
And the difference in combat power was immediately obvious.
Detection showed Levi's overall strength at only [28].
After raising Wizard's Hand to the Third Ring, his strength had increased by two points, reaching [30].
But how powerful was Karen, this high-tier Inquisitor of the Church Inquisition?
Detection showed his strength at a staggering [90].
The difference between them was threefold.
That was why Levi had been almost completely overwhelmed the moment the battle began.
However, as the white radiance faded and transformed into a faint protective barrier surrounding Karen, the high-tier Inquisitor continued staring at Levi—still burning like a figure of white fire—with an expression that remained solemn.
Sure enough, in the next instant, brilliant light erupted from Levi's body, isolating and extinguishing the Flames of Heretic Judgment.
The two golden discs Levi had obtained—blessed by twelve legendary witches—activated immediately.
Together, they formed a powerful protective barrier around him.
But Levi's situation was still perilous.
Because the Flames of Heretic Judgment carried the power of soul judgment.
Once struck by it, if one failed the willpower judgment, the soul would suffer devastating damage.
And in that moment of weakness, the sacred flames would invade completely and reduce the victim to ashes.
The Flames of Heretic Judgment truly deserved their fearsome reputation.
If even a high-tier Church Inquisitor possessed such terrifying strength, it was no wonder the Church had managed to suppress the wizards of the entire continent until they could barely breathe.
Even the Queen, despite possessing treasures of this caliber, did not dare expose her identity as a wizard.
The Church...
It was terrifying beyond imagination.
But now was not the time to dwell on such thoughts.
Countless thoughts flashed through Levi's eyes before finally settling upon Karen below, who was already preparing to attack again.
Without the slightest hesitation, Levi transformed into his Human-Faced Demon Owl form.
