My name is Teresa Flemings a high school student, studying in Japan with a major of Asian Language. I am actually from England and was supposed to study from there, but since my majoring Asian Language. I decided to study where I can fully immerse myself in the language.
Asian language is really just a stepping-stone for me. My actual goal is to study about history of the world. But if I wanted to study about other countries, the best way to do it is to know their language, so Asian Language is really like a stepping-stone for my goal.
When I told my parents about my plan, they got mad and to told me to just do something ordinary. But I can’t even begin to understand what ordinary means. So when I rebelled, they fought back by not sending me money regularly.
Although I could just wait until my soft-hearted parents send me my next allowance, I decided that I should make sure that I can at least pay for my own personal expenses, and that was the reason why I decided to take on a part time job.
I had scanned through a lot of newspapers and through ‘Hello World’, but still I had trouble in finding a job that would at least fit me. I was soon able to find one through pure coincidence… a library was hiring for an assistant. I immediately prepared my ‘rirekisho’ and went directly to the library after my classes. But the librarian or the assistant there did not know of any hiring. I was bummed about it.
‘Why would they put a sign about hiring when they are not hiring’ I cursed inside me. When I got out, the signage was still there, due to my frustration I was thinking about throwing the signage, and so stomping towards it, I grabbed it with my hands and…
The next thing I knew, the view changed from a busy library entrance to a scenic view of the open sea. The well ornamented tiles placed on the floor put the plain white tiles in that library to shame.
Scanning the area, I noticed 5 other people with me. Three lovely ladies who looked like princesses in a fairy tale stood above us in a slightly elevated platform. On my left were two others, a boy my age and a stoic yet beautiful older lady.
Although I have only read a few light novels through my OTAKU roommate’s recommendation, this would be like one that book I was able to read about being summoned to a distant land to become a hero to save the world from peril. And right now I was currently living on that very same situation as the heroine had been place.
I just wanted to get a part time job, but I seem to have slipped to another world, what should I do? (wait this one is a good title to recommend to my OTAKU friend)

I was told I was summoned to this world to be the Queen’s Assistant (assistant to what exactly), of course I will be paid for my work and all other things that I procure for this world will be delivered to me once I return to the other world. Well that should be a good remuneration… that is as long as I do not die.
So to ensure my safety, I had to check my blessings I received from these so-called gods and goddesses.

Although I am not considered weak, I could also feel that I am not relatively strong. So I will have to strengthen myself by researching about Magic.
Thus my otherworldly adventure begins

5 months have passed since I had been summoned from Earth to this fantasy like world known as Resmere as an Otherworldly Library Assistant.
When they instructed me to come as a Library Assistant, I thought that I would be tasked to handle a library on my own. But I was slightly wrong, when I got to the kingdom …er~ Queendom of Alexandria, an overwhelmed awe spawned before me. After all you don’t get to see a whole country with library as their homes.
The Queendom of Alexandria is also known as the Queendom of Knowledge, as far as this world is concerned this is the Mecca for all Scholastic endeavors. There is no building in this Queendom that do not possess bookshelves, their dinner has books, all household kitchens have books… for crying out loud even their stables possess them. They sure have a weird obsession of acquiring knowledge.
Now that I think about it, this world probably does not need a rank-and-file librarian when they have citizens who can pretty much cover that. What then did this Stoic Beauty of a Queen summoned me for? Well, the answer lies on this world so-called Hero Summoning.
Apparently when heroes are summoned, they tend to give away technologies that are pretty much considered dangerous or perhaps outright taboo to this world. In those novels that I read by recommendation form my OTAKU friend (she would be oh-so-jealous when she hears that I got transported to another world), usually the hero will introduce using their so-called cheat knowledge to another world, thus the kingdom of Alexandria needs me to confirm which knowledge would be truly beneficial and would be detrimental to this world.
So, in order to stop the invention of those detrimental to this world, my job is to help the Queen understand Earth’s current technological advancement.
And for the past 5 months that is all I have been doing, talking to the queen, and handing out what ever knowledge I have about Earth’s technology. Well, I am not well versed with technology though as my interest lie on history. But the queen affirmed that my worth will be placed when the Hero introduce something. Well for now my conversation with the queen was really just my everyday life in the Earth.
One thing that I noticed though, Priestess-Queen Alexandria -the queen of Alexandria seems stoic when dealing with everyday mundane conversation but when it has something to do with new knowledge, her eyes sparkles with glittering interest, which made her somewhat cute.
And one of the items I mentioned made her eyes sparkled, since I wanted to see her cute face, I eagerly brought it up. It was 15th day on my 5th month staying here on Alexandria’s Capital that a certain conversation led me to see that very cute face for the first time.
“So how do you communicate in this world?” I was a bit interested on their technological advancement. “I mean to far away people.”
“Through Telepathy, I guess.” she must have not thought about it much since her face remained stoic.
“Must be convenient if everyone can just message anyone telepathically? Everyone can use telepathy, right?”
Apparently, telepathy is a magic that requires a massive use of Mana, if you do not possess a great quantity of it, using it is almost futile. Another con for using it is that the backlash when something interferes the telepathy will lead both casters to get severe mental breakdowns or worse insanity (seems like a scary magic).
“Well… I am guessing your world does not possess telepathy.” she was now probably curious as to how we communicate to other people. “How does your world communicate from far off kingdoms?”
“Well, then let me tell you about the wonderful item known as Smartphones.” To have another glimpse of those rare glittering eyes I had for almost 2 hours talked about smartphones.

While this world may have some aversion to other worldly technologies and there might be a reason for that, but harmless ones like smartphones can be forgiven.
After my talk with Queen Alexandria about smartphones, she wanted to have one of her own. With that, she then introduced me to scholars who would try to recreate and reproduce smartphones in this magical world.
Due to that, I was made to study Magic Engineering, a branch of magic study that handles the design and creation of magic tools for everyday and military usage.
After four months of rigorous teaching me on the basic and advanced Magic Engineering we were finally ready to recreate a functional smartphone.
Together with the scholars who were well versed with Magic Formations and an abundant source magically infused materials we started to do a lot of trial and errors.
Of the many materials that we had tried, the most promising are the magical stones known as Stalite with a convenient telepathic property, these magical stone create a unique wave of signal whenever it is chipped from its source.
They are however rare and could not be acquired readily, fortunately there was no need for the stones to be so big for it to work. A small -about 5-millimeter SIMS (Stalite Integrated Magic Stone) sized would do. The team then attached that SIMS to another specialized magic stone known as Magsonite and voila! A pseudo-smartphone… no let’s call it ‘Smartstones’ (aptly called for its materials, genius naming sense if I say so myself.) was finished.
two months later, the team were able to add other attachments such that it can now use ‘Appraise’ using the right magic formation. With this, the queendom was able to help the lack of Appraisal Skills which is very scarce in some kingdoms.
I was fairly satisfied with how I was able to help with another world’s problem. But now I know that this world is not so helpless like the ones in the light novels I had once read on Earth. This world could have gotten this technology 3 or 5 more years all on their own, all I really did was push them a bit faster.
I began to understand the world of Resmere is far more advanced than Earth.
