Chapter 861: Secretions
"What? You want to try such a ridiculous thing?" Doctor Chou was stunned when he heard Bai Zhan’s shocking words. He blinked again and again, trying to see if Bai Zhan was joking with him, but when he saw that the man looked quite certain, he could not help but say to him, "Don’t even try to do such a thing. What would you do if things turned troublesome for you? Do you even know what kind of properties those things have? What if you end up getting into trouble?"
Bai Zhan also knew this, but at the same time he could not help but admit that he was a bit greedy. He had no idea what kind of properties these human-faced spiders had, but he had to admit that their defence mechanism was really good! Even Bai Meiyue could not do anything when it came to these things.
If he could, then he would love to have the same ability as these human-faced spiders. He could not help but say, "Doctor Chou, I am not being silly. Think about it carefully: these human-faced spiders were able to develop their defences so high because they ended up mutating and developing a skill that could strengthen their defences. If we get our hands on how they did it and use the reason for that particular mutation on me...then I can too increase the defences of my skills."
When Doctor Chou heard his explanation, he had to admit that he was a little moved. These human-faced spiders were indeed quite special. The defence ability of these human-faced spiders was something that he too would like to delve deeper into.
"What do you say, Doctor Chou?" When Bai Zhan saw that the man was a little moved, he could not help but nudge the man a bit more. "If the two of us work together, then maybe we will be able to find out more about the abilities of these human-faced spiders."
Doctor Chou was indeed impressed by these words and nodded. "Fine, let’s take a look at these things closely."
Bai Zhan smacked Doctor Chou on the shoulder. "Welcome aboard, doctor!"
Bai Meiyue had no idea that her brother had formed a sort of alliance with Doctor Chou. She was currently holding her tight belly and wincing hard. Xiao Cai was rolling around in her stomach as if he had been given a stimulant, and her uterus was squeezing hard as if she were about to give birth at any moment. Sweat beads started to form on her forehead, and she had to make use of the breathing skills that Shen Zhen had taught her to calm herself down.
She leaned against the plush chair and tried to ease the pain. It took a long while before the pain smoothed down, and only then could Bai Meiyue look at the man on the bed. "What are you doing? Just what kind of skills and abilities are you developing? Your son is about to arrive in this world, and if this goes on, then I am worried that you will not be able to hold him. Don’t blame me when it happens."
Maybe it was because Bai Meiyue was agitated due to the frustration in her heart, but as soon as she started to get angry, Xiao Cai, who had calmed down, started to toss around at once. Bai Meiyue looked at her belly; she could see Xiao Cai’s head pushing against one side and then another. Her belly was getting lower and lower, and it seemed like the baby was going to drop even further.
Seeing this, Bai Meiyue clutched the blanket around her body. She could not give birth yet. She was only thirty-six weeks pregnant, and there were still four weeks before she could give birth. That’s right, she wanted to carry this baby in her womb full term. Her mother had told her that the more a baby grew inside a woman’s belly, the better it would be for the baby. A single day inside the belly of his mother was better than being on nutrients and medicines outside for a week. After all, a mother could raise a child better than anyone else.
The last time Xiao Cai came to this world, he was so pitiful. So skinny and weak. It was all because she was not good enough and ended up having a premature delivery. But this time around, she wanted to push this baby out at the fortieth week; if possible, she would like to drag it even more.
Bai Meiyue calmed down, and the contractions became less frequent. Only then did she stand up from the chair and walk out of the room with a steady pace.
As soon as she stepped out of the mansion, Bai Meiyue was hit by the heatwave and frowned harder. She raised her head and looked at the sky. It had long turned dark, but the weather was still just as hot as it was earlier. It did not matter if the sun was shining in the sky or not; the weather was hot constantly, and as Bai Meiyue was in the last stage of her pregnancy, she felt even hotter than the others.
"Sister Yueyue, what are you doing?"
Bai Meiyue dropped her head and looked at Meng Suisui, who was walking over. She was holding a bunch of bandages in her hands and walking toward the training ground, but changed her course when she saw Bai Meiyue. Walking over to her, she worriedly asked, "It’s so late at night; what are you doing out here? Go back home and sleep. I am afraid that your body will be too tired after what happened."
"I want to sleep too, but the contractions are getting stronger and stronger. I cannot even close my eyes for a few minutes." Bai Meiyue smiled and shook her head. She was indeed tired but the contractions were getting too strong and frequent, she could not stay in bed even if she wanted to and could only come out for some fresh air. Unfortunately, the situation outside was not any better.
