Chapter 856: Human Faced Spider (II)

"Did you hear that sound?" One of the guards on the watchtower asked. He turned to look at the man beside him and asked in a low voice, "I think something big is heading our way."
"Huh?" The guard next to him wiped the saliva that was dripping down from the corner of his mouth. Because he had been sleeping, he could not focus on the sound that the other guard was talking about. He looked around a little bit and then shook his head. "I think you are thinking too much. I can’t hear any sounds."
As he spoke, the man was about to go back to sleep. Seeing this, the other guard raised his hand and smacked him on the back of his head. "Have you lost your mind? Wake up and listen carefully. How can you even see what is going on if you are not even awake!?" As the guard finished speaking, he did not forget to glare at the man.
Only then did the man snap out of his daze and start to focus on his surroundings.

Sure enough, he heard the same sound that his partner had heard earlier. "What’s going on?" worried that there was some sort of danger heading their way, the guard hurriedly picked up a binocular and started to look around the safe base. The two men thought that it would take them a while to find out what was going on, but as soon as the man picked up the binoculars, he noticed a huge crowd heading their way. What was even more thrilling was that in front of that large crowd was Captain Xu’s convoy that was getting closer and closer.
"Hahaha!" The sound of laughter echoed through the small path that led toward the safe base. Though the safe base was slowly getting surrounded by the poisonous mist, it would still take time for the groundwork to be done.
"That! Hurry and ring the alarm!" shouted the guard. "Those bastards had brought all kinds of monsters to our safe base."
When his partner heard this, he did not even ask what kind of danger they were in at the moment. He hurriedly pressed the alarm button, and a second later, the sound of the alarm echoed through the safe base.
"What is going on?" Bai Jixuan dropped everything that he was doing and rushed toward the watchtower with Meng Qibao.
Bai Meiyue, who was on a round, also arrived at the watchtower with Liu Che. The four of them climbed up the watchtower just as Bai Jixuan asked, "What’s happening? Why did you ring the alarm?"

As she was the strongest ability user among all of them, she did not need a binocular. She could easily see what was going on in front of her.
And when she saw the human-faced spiders scattering toward their safe base just because they were attracted by the sounds created by the convoy of Captain Xu. Seeing them heading toward them, Bai Meiyue was not surprised. If anything, she was glad that she had not softened her heart when it came to this convoy or else she was sure that they would have definitely bitten her in the future.
"Enjoy!" shouted Captain Xu as he turned the direction of the convoy to another side, and at the same time, he threw the bloodied head of a dog right in front of their safe base.
When Bai Meiyue saw them heading away, she narrowed her eyes and then summoned a giant ice spear and attacked Captain Xu’s car. If not for the fact that the distance was too great, she would have killed that man right away.

The glass at the back of the car exploded, sending glass shards everywhere. If not for the fact that Captain Xu was a really good driver, the car would have overturned. When the man next to Captain Xu saw the ice spear, his heart jumped in his throat. He was glad that he was not sitting in the back, or else he would have been killed without knowing how he died.
"That damned woman is vicious!"
The man cursed as he looked at the ice spear, which was sticking an inch away from his ear. If he were any less unlucky, then this thing would have pierced his head!
Captain Xu was also unhappy. When he brought those things to Bai Meiyue, he knew that she would retaliate, but he never expected that she would retaliate so quickly! His expression turned sombre as he looked at the ice spear that was sticking out of the car’s backside. He pursed his lips and said, "Don’t worry, she will soon pay for her actions. Does she think that taking her anger out on us is going to help her?"
