Chapter 829: A Choice
Bai Meiyue was indeed confused. But she was not a fool; she would not tell Lu Yu that Shen Zhen was planning to abort the baby. She curled her lips and said, "Congratulations." As for what Shen Zhen was planning, she was going to ask her later on. After all, what was that woman thinking? If she was thinking of aborting the baby, she should have never relayed the matter to Lu Yu.
However, Bai Meiyue knew that the matter was not simple. Shen Zhen was not the kind of person who would let such a matter slip, so it must be some kind of mistake. But even so... she raised her head and looked at Lu Yu. The man was happy as a child. He was beaming as if he had found the biggest treasure in this world, and as someone who wanted and loved her son very much, Bai Meiyue could understand his feelings.
After all, Lu Yu was an orphan and did not have a family. For him, having a wife and a child was something that he could have only dreamt of when he was young. Now that he finally had the two people whom he wanted the most by his side, how could he not be happy?
But was this really something that was going to happen?
Bai Meiyue felt her head buzz, and she ignored the man who was smiling at the ultrasound report. Instead, she went to look for Shen Zhen. When she arrived at the hospital, she saw Shen Zhen sitting in her office with a pale look on her face.
Li Rong, next to her, was holding an injection and saying, "You need to use this injection, Doctor Shen. As long as you can use it, then you will be able to stabilise the foetus."
"Don’t waste it. I need a dose of this injection every day. We do not have so much medicine. Save it for those who will need it in the future. Anyway, even if I use it now, it is not enough for me to use for the next three months."
"How can this be done?" Li Rong frowned and slammed her hand on the table. "I know that you are unwilling to use this medicine on yourself, but think about it carefully. You are also a mother, and you also need the help of medicines. What’s the point of thinking about the future? Just use it for now. We will discuss how you are going to manage the entire pregnancy later on."
When Li Rong saw Bai Meiyue walking inside, she thought that she was here for her daily routine check-up. "Yueyue, are you here because you want to do your check-up? Sit down; I will hook you up to the blood pressure monitor."
"There is no need." Bai Meiyue walked over. After listening to the conversation between the two women, Bai Meiyue knew what was going on. It seemed like Shen Zhen had not told the truth to Lu Yu about the child being weak and unstable. No wonder the man was so happy.
She turned to look at Shen Zhen as she walked over to the couch and sat down on it with a gentle plop. "What is going on? How come Lu Yu found out about your pregnancy?"
"Isn’t it because of Lu Yin?" Li Rong sneered angrily as she started slamming things here and there.
"Lu Yin? What does this matter have to do with her?" Bai Meiyue frowned hard. Wasn’t Lu Yin living with Dacheng and the rest? How come she could still cause trouble for Shen Zhen?
"We underestimated that woman. She actually sensed that there was something amiss between Lu Yu and Doctor Shen. So she actually bribed a nurse at the hospital to let her on if something happened." Li Rong wiped her hands with a sanitiser and started to pull Doctor Shen’s arm even though the woman looked reluctant. "We never thought that after treating the nurses and the ward boys with kindness, we would still be beaten to death by them. One of the nurses ended up finding out about Doctor Shen’s pregnancy and relayed it to Lu Yin."
"Who in turn relayed it to Lu Yu. It seems like the woman thinks that as long as she ties Lu Yu and Doctor Shen together, she can control them."
Bai Meiyue raised her brows. Oh, it seemed like she was the one who underestimated Lu Yin. The woman was still thinking about scheming against her.
"How can that be possible?" Shen Zhen questioned weakly.
"How can it not be possible?" Li Rong rolled her eyes as she wiped the spot where she was going to apply the injection and questioned back. "Lu Yu is still her big brother; can he really abandon her? Even if you believe it, I don’t. As long as the two of them are related to one another, Lu Yin will always hold a position in the heart of her brother. Think about it again, if Lu Yin asks her brother to help her, will he refuse? If she puts her life at stake and asks Lu Yu to follow her, will he refuse? With the child between the two of you, it won’t be difficult for her to drag you along with Lu Yu."
"I must say that the woman is really scheming and bitchy!"
Li Rong was really unhappy when she thought about the good things that Lu Yin was planning; her abacus beads were almost falling on her face, even though the woman was not at the safe base.
Bai Meiyue nodded when she heard Li Rong’s explanation. "As much as I hate to admit it, I have to say that Li Rong sees things much more clearly. Currently, a skilled doctor is very much in demand. Even the capital doesn’t have one. It’s no surprise that they are trying to scheme against you and get what they want."
