Chapter 778: Escape (II)
He deliberately said those words. Since he couldn’t curse Chu Xia in the face, he could only take his anger out on Bai Xue. He couldn’t understand what was going on in Bai Feng’s mind, why he was determined to protect Bai Xue. He couldn’t help but wonder to what degree Bai Feng would be willing to take care of Bai Xue.
Today, he was going this far to rescue Bai Xue, but did this woman even feel a shred of gratitude toward Bai Feng and the risks that he was taking to protect her? He certainly did not believe that she did.
Even when Bai Feng knew that his team was dissatisfied, he still pulled Bai Xue back with him. Even when the woman was fighting tooth and nail with him, he did not let go of her and pulled her along with him. His back was straight, but Bai Meiyue could feel that there was some imperceptible heaviness pressing on his back. Bai Meiyue was disgusted at the thought that Bai Feng still took Bai Qingshi as his hero. A kind father who cared for his children.
She wondered what kind of expression Bai Feng would have once he realised that the father he had been idolising did not even exist!
With that last thought in her head, she turned to walk away. Whether Bai Feng survived this ordeal or not, she was not going to care about it. As she walked toward the private jet, her hair was flying behind her due to the wind that was circulating around the private jet because of the engine.
Their plane looked quite small, but it seemed like Bai Wenxuan was aware of how many people were coming with her because there were enough seats for everyone, including a resting area for Lei Qian.
"Are we really going to leave them?" Wan Guofuo asked with a frown as he peered down at the restless people who were fighting to get on the next transportation helicopter.
"Of course not. I am not an unscrupulous merchant. Since I have taken the money, I will naturally arrange for their retrieval, but I already told Bai Feng that I will first favour my own team and not anyone else. If he had a problem with that, then he should have cleared it up in the beginning. Anyway, she was the one who arranged everything for him, and it was her discourtesy that she agreed on behalf of Fox without even asking him whether he was willing or not.
She then turned to look at the ability users who came along with flying the jet and asked them, "How is the situation outside?"
"Not very good." One of the ability users sighed and relayed, "The mutated bug tide had become even more powerful. We could only find a few hours to break through the cloud of mutated bugs. As for the zombies? It seemed like this place had become the centre of a powerful zombie. The zombies seemed to be moving in a calculating manner."
Bai Meiyue pursed her lips. It seemed like her suspicions were correct. There was a zombie king inside the safe base; it was not a surprise. There were countless ability users who were sacrificed by Yu Miaomiao in her attempt to gain more power. Though most of the ability users were resistant to the doomsday virus, there were always exceptions. Like if they ended up running into countless powerful zombies and ended up getting bitten.
One zombie they could deal with, but what if there were more than one?
Bai Meiyue sighed. She then turned to look at Fox and asked, "What are you planning now?"
"I will stay with you for the time being and then arrange for a safe base myself." Fox had had enough of the ability users whom he had already sent packing on a different plane. Since Bai Wenxuan wanted him to rescue Bai Meiyue, there was nothing wrong with him wanting to ask Bai Wenxuan to save his teammates.
Bai Meiyue nodded.
However, there was another worry that was weighing on her heart. The fact that a zombie king was rising in the safe base was not good news. If this continued, then how would the safe base that she had created be able to withstand these two waves? No, she needed to go back and find something that could help her out with the security of the safe base.
After thinking it through, Bai Meiyue closed her eyes and took a nap. When she opened her eyes, they had arrived at the safe base. The first thing she did upon arriving at the safe base was to arrange a room at her home with all the doctors who were studying the ability users and their ailments around Lei Qian. Once she was done, she called the ability users and her mother to the meeting hall, where they held a meeting.
Bai Meiyue told them what was going on, and everyone couldn’t help but frown when they heard the gist of the situation. It seemed like things were really heading south, and there were a lot of dangers coming their way.
"So, what are we going to do now? We don’t have any ability users who can control those mutated bugs."
