Chapter 891: Hemorrhage
"What’s going on?" Xiao Wu had been keeping an eye on Lu Yin’s convoy that was getting closer to their safe base; when he saw them retreating, he could not help but frown. He turned to look at Lu Yu, who wore a sombre expression on his face and asked, "Why did they suddenly leave?"
Lu Yu’s brows twitched as he sneered. "Why else? They are worried that they will end up losing if they continue pushing too hard." He had reached a new understanding about his sister in the past few days. He knew that Lu Yin attacked their safe base because she was sure that without Bai Meiyue, they would never be able to fight back. He had no idea what happened with the little explosion, but it must have scared away Lu Yin.
She was a coward who only knew how to take advantage of someone’s weakness. She only dared to attack Bai Meiyue because she knew that Bai Meiyue was not in any condition to fight. He wondered if his sister had the guts to make a move if Bai Meiyue was in a condition to fight back.
"Leave them alone. Go and find out what that little explosion was." Lu Yu did not bother with Lu Yin; his mind was still fixated on the explosion that had taken place, even though it did not harm anyone—it did not change the fact that it had shaken up their entire safe base.
Xiao Wu seemed like he wanted to ask some more questions, but then thought against it and then went to look for the source of the explosion. Once he left, Lu Yu turned his attention back to the convoy that was retreating and sneered coldly. It seemed like things were not going well for Lu Yin either.
At the same time, in the delivery room, Bai Meiyue was drenched in sweat. She gulped a mouthful of air and winced hard as another contraction shot down her spine.
"Keep working hard, Yueyue. The head is nearly down; as long as you continue pushing, you will be able to see your son." Shen Zhen noticed that Bai Meiyue was zooming in and out of consciousness. She was worried that the woman would end up fainting so she hurriedly tried to comfort her as she gave her a shot of motivation. "There is nothing to worry about."
"Your expression says otherwise." Bai Meiyue chuckled softly, but no sooner had she laughed—another contraction tore through her body, and she couldn’t help but wince.
"Just a bit more." Ignoring the subtle remarks that Bai Meiyue had made, Shen Zhen continued putting a little pressure on Bai Meiyue’s belly. It wasn’t too harsh, just enough to help the child push through the tiny opening.
Bai Meiyue sighed. She stopped joking around and started pushing even harder. She knew that it was time; from her experience in the past life, she had a very good idea of what was going on with her body. The burning sensation made her soul escape from her body. She felt something similar to the pain that she was currently experiencing.
"Are you ready? One, two, and three. PUSH!"
And Bai Meiyue did as she was told. Using all the strength in her body, she pushed as hard as she could.
"AHHHH!!!"
A scream tore out of her throat unwillingly.
"The head is out." Shen Zhen spoke calmly. For her, this was something that she had seen many times. Even though it was her saviour who had helped her and saved her sister, Shen Zhen knew how to control her emotions. She was quite calm as she dealt with everything that was happening in the operating room.
However, the crowd outside was filled with another kind of enthusiasm when they heard that the head was out.
They cheered and clapped. Pushing the head out was the biggest challenge when it came to giving birth. As long as the head of the child was out, everything else could be dealt with.
While the crowd was cheering, a man landed right outside the small building where the hospital was located. Lei Qian, who fell from the sky, jumped to his feet and, ignoring the fact that he was in his birthday suit, marched right into the hospital. As soon as he walked inside, the nurses, as well as the other female staff, let out a shrill scream, covered their faces and started running away from him. But Lei Qian was not bothered by their actions.
Instead, he simply paused, looked down at his bare body and then walked toward the resources room, where he picked up a casual hospital gown and then walked out of the utility room.
"Ah Qian?"
Mother Lei was also celebrating the birth of her grandson when she noticed a familiar figure walking over. At first, she thought that she was dreaming, but when she blinked and the figure of her son stayed where it was, Mother Lei was both shocked and surprised. But then her lips curled up in a charming smile, and she rushed toward her son. "Ah Qian, you are awake—"
However, before she could finish speaking, Lei Qian walked past her and did not even look at her. He seemed to be in a hurry as he rushed toward the labour room, as if he were a man possessed.
Inside the delivery room, Bai Meiyue was breathing heavily. Her forehead was covered in sweat as she looked at the glaring white lights that were hovering above her. When Shen Zhen noticed that Bai Meiyue was having a hard time pushing the baby out, she increased the pressure which she was putting on Bai Meiyue’s belly. At first, she was just pushing, but then she threw her entire body on Bai Meiyue’s abdomen. Bai Meiyue took a deep breath on the delivery bed, and with Shen Zhen’s aid, she started pushing the child.
However, even when she tried her best, the child seemed to be stuck.
Seeing this, Shen Zhen was worried that Bai Meiyue was tired and could not help but say, "Are you okay? Do you want to rest?"
