Chapter 101: Should I Look Forward to It?
The moment Mrs. Fu stepped out of the car, Mrs. Qin hurried forward to greet her. "Welcome, please, come inside."
Mrs. Fu hadn’t expected so many guests at the Qin family’s home, and she felt a little nervous.
Thankfully, she kept her composure.
"Alright!"
Both mothers were quite attractive.
After all, for a woman to have a daughter as beautiful as Fu Mingxue, her own features were bound to be lovely.
In the past, she had been too busy making a living, and as a widow, she never took the time to dress herself up.
Otherwise, she would have been drowned in the town’s gossip and criticism.
But today was her daughter’s wedding day, so she had taken care to dress up nicely.
Not only was her hair combed so that not a single strand was out of place, but her clothes were also brand new.
With a bit of the vanishing cream her daughter had given her applied to her face, her entire aura was completely different.
Standing next to Mrs. Qin, she held her own perfectly.
The two grandmothers each carried one of the twins as they went inside.
The Qin family’s wedding was, in fact, a simple affair.
A family of their means couldn’t afford to be extravagant, of course──
Even so, with so many guests in attendance, over a dozen tables had been set up in the large courtyard.
After entering the house, Qin Wenhao set her down.
He led Fu Mingxue to his grandfather and grandmother, who were seated in the seats of honor.
"Mingxue, this is my grandpa and grandma."
"Hello, Grandpa! Hello, Grandma!" Fu Mingxue greeted them with natural grace.
This pleased the old couple immensely.
They immediately handed red envelopes to Fu Mingxue.
"Take this, Granddaughter-in-law."
Fu Mingxue accepted them with a smile. "Thank you, Grandpa and Grandma!"
Next, Qin Wenhao brought her to meet his parents.
This was also the first time Fu Mingxue had met Mr. Qin.
He looked at her with an emotional expression. "What a good child!"
Fu Mingxue knew her father-in-law was thinking of her own father.
"Dad, Mom!"
Mr. Qin and Mrs. Qin each gave her a red envelope as well.
As Fu Mingxue accepted them, she could feel that these two red envelopes were especially thick.
She was introduced to the other Qin family elders and Qin Wenhao’s maternal relatives one by one.
Fu Mingxue’s hands grew tired from accepting so many red envelopes.
By the time the wedding ceremony was over, she was sitting on the bed in Qin Wenhao’s room, exhausted and hungry.
Her mother had already left after the banquet, taking the twins with her.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door. "Mingxue, open up. It’s me."
Hearing her mother-in-law’s voice, Fu Mingxue immediately went to open the door.
She was surprised to see her mother-in-law holding a bowl of noodles. "Mom, what is this...?"
Mrs. Qin said, "Mingxue, I noticed you didn’t eat much. I had Aunt Li make some noodles. Here, have some."
"Thank you, Mom!" Fu Mingxue hadn’t expected her mother-in-law to be so thoughtful.
"There’s no need to thank me. Quickly, take it inside and eat."
"Okay!" Fu Mingxue took the bowl of noodles.
Mrs. Qin didn’t stay long and left right away.
Fu Mingxue found the noodles to be quite delicious. There was not only a poached egg but also a large piece of meat in the bowl.
Just as she was about to finish, Qin Wenhao pushed the door open and walked in.
"Are you finished? I’ll take the bowl out."
"...Okay!"
"If you want to wash up, this room has an attached bathroom. You can just go right in. I’ll come back up in a bit."
"It’s fine. You go attend to the guests. Don’t worry about me."
Fu Mingxue grew quite nervous. ’He did say we were going to be a real married couple,’ she recalled.
So, she didn’t know if she was looking forward to what was to come or just nervous about the night ahead.
In any case, at that moment, she wished nothing more than for Qin Wenhao to leave the room and give her a chance to collect herself.
Qin Wenhao glanced at her, then took the bowl and left.
