Chapter 95: Alone And Helpless 2
Henry would forever remain different among all creatures no matter what.
Hell, he was the first to make her feel like she could be loved and adored even if it was in a way that didn’t feel right or romantic in any way.
Hell, what does she even know about romance?
’’Anais,’’
She felt her heart and breath stifling at the call of her name. The sound of his voice always made her stare a little longer.
He was so beautiful.
She gulped down hard as she had to admit it once again.
Tears burned in the corner of her eyes enough to hurt a lot.
Another lump formed in her throat formed hard at the back of her throat as she watched him again.
So desirable, adorable and...
She felt so overwhelmed while trying to wrap her head around everything.
’’It’s raining. Where are you going?’’
He was never rude to her in any way. Hell, he always treats her specially. As if she was indeed the most beautiful he had ever seen and admired.
Though, Corrine doubted that and would rather want to know the truth behind his unhealthy obsession for her.
Dear god, he even brought her back from the dead!
That means, even death could not separate them.
It was chilling to anyone that lacked the common sense of romance and creepy.
Henry would have just buried her or placed a flower on her grave...
She stared around a bit as she wondered what in the world she was thinking.
Am I really in my right senses anymore?!
Hell, he would fall in-love with another since it was that easy to do so even when she was alive and still with him.
But her...
Her glossy eyes found him once more.
She would lie in that cold grave and rot away. Without anyone genuinely showing her love, the kind she daydreams about secretly and wished they were hers.
’’Why...’’ She began, even though it sounded weak and rubbed in fear, she continued bravely.
They seriously can’t continue to live like this.
She barely knows who...or what he was as the case maybe.
And she doubts he even knows anything that deep about her and her past.
’’Why won’t you just leave me alone?’’ She cried out, feeling her anger and frustration slipping through while rising to a peak.
If she was being honest with herself, she wanted nothing more than for whatever existed between them to end completely.
She might be saying this out of fear but a larger part of her leans towards exhaustion. Hell, it seems like everywhere she goes, no matter who she meets or whatever event should take place in her life, all she just needs to do is to look away and she would find him close.
Why and how did it become that way?
’’Why is it so hard for you to let go when I showed you a countless number of times that I want nothing to do with you?!’’
’’You are just clinging to me at this point and I don’t like it! It’s suffocating me!’’
Her words were harsh but it was something he needed to hear.
A necessary wound to his stubborn soul.
If he truly cared about her like he says he does, he would stop everything he’s doing to her right here and now and leave her be.
Corrine found herself gasping as she had so much to say to him and she wasn’t going to be polite in any way about it.
’’Can you just stop? This is madness, okay? Listen to me, you don’t...’’ She paused, letting the feeling roll off her back in disgust at the thought of it before mentioning it calmly but loud enough for him to hear and understand.
’’You don’t love me. I repeat, you don’t love me. You are just obsessed and you are already going too far.’’
’’I don’t—gosh, I would never feel the same way about you, okay? I have...’’
She paused mid sentence not getting what she was doing but decided to say it anyway. Anything to stop her from ever seeing him ever again.
’’I have someone else in my life.’’
He’s human...just like me. Not comparable to you in any way but at least he is human and not a freak...
’’I love him, alright?’’ she said it as if explaining that fact gently to a kindergartener.
’’I seriously can’t understand why you are doing this to me...hell, I think you are attractive enough to bother someone else that is willing to be beside you.’’
That hurt so much and she saw it in his eyes. It made her feel guilty about it but there was no other way to end this rather than doing this.
She said nothing as the rain slowly increased its pacing and all he did was watch her feeling betrayed.
’’And...’’ She began, when something kept telling her to stop. To not hurt him further and it overwhelmed her so much that she did.
’’Listen, let’s be real with each other, alright? I am a human and you are...’’
He looked nothing like the rest of the demons in that building so she felt that identity could be wrong.
’’Whatever it is you are. Maybe there might be other women out there in this big universe that might like...you...just the way you are. But not me.’’
A soft raise in his eyes towards her begged her to stop talking but she was desperate. Desperate to end whatever this was towards them. Maybe letting him hear the truth he had been denying for so long when fooling around her might be the final nail to the coffin of ever seeing each other again. And she was ready to be free of this strange entanglement with him. She blamed herself for letting it worsen and move down a dark pit with no exit in sight.
She pitied him but at the same time pitied herself more. But she was convinced with the way he looked, the money and fame he had around his kind was enough to get him whatever woman he desired rather than wasting his time and energy on a lost cause like her. She would hate to keep leading him on when whatever he wants to make happen between them was simply...just not possible.
It was never meant to be.
’’I hope this would be enough for you to turn the other way and look for someone else.’’
Someone better and more deserving of everything you are doing.
’’Though you look quite dangerous and all, I know deep down that you might be a good person. And I might be wrong. But honestly, you need to stop wasting your energy on me. I can’t give you whatever it is you want.’’
He blinked, averting his gaze slowly from her and she was curious to know what he was thinking at that very moment.
’’Alright?’’ She pressed further, hoping that was enough. He should be kind enough to let it all go at this point so they could each find their own peace and happy ending separately.
He didn’t even look at her and she noticed how the ground suffered under his intense glaring.
It was heartstopping and she didn’t want to hang around to know what goes on in his head or what he planned on doing next.
’’I wish you all the best and hope you find the right love sooner.’’ She said quickly, feeling the urge to turn around and start walking the opposite way.
’’I was following because I was curious to see where you were heading to and make sure you arrived there unharmed.’’
She stared at him, lips parting slowly as he said that without having the guts to look at her. She saw how his eyes moved as if trying to process all her words at once and trying to survive it all but failing.
’’I didn’t know I suffocated you.’’
’’I’m sorry, Anais.’’
He...he...
Her eyes widened at the creature in guilt and in disbelief. He looked so miserable as he tried to get his thoughts together while avoiding even the slightest eye contact.
It...softened her a bit.
’’I didn’t mean to become so unlikable to you. I was just trying my best to make you notice me for once. I didn’t know...’’
His eyes rolled until they found the same spot on the ground he had been staring at earlier. And she thought she saw tears in them...or could it have been the rain?
It broke his heart even to think about it and he wondered how he was going to live with this pain.
’’I promise to let you go if you could endure being with me long enough until I give you everything I planned to make happen for you.’’
What...?
Anais blinked.
His voice was so soft and in so much pain it hurt her even more.
’’You won’t ever see me again in your life after that. I want to make this life better than the previous one you had. Until then...’’
He tried looking at her but paused when she said nothing.
He must be making her uncomfortable by even existing before her.
He should leave and let her continue wherever she was heading to. He would have Azazel and some other demons watch over her for him.
He offered her one last smile after looking at her briefly.
And just like that, he was gone.
Leaving her all by herself like she wanted.
