Too Late For Regrets: I Sold My Soul To The New Intern

Chapter 92: Your Ruin

’’And I promise you will never have to see him again.’’

It echoed loudly like alarm bells in her mind.

It didn’t sound like a promise he might decide not to make come true.

It felt like a threat. Something he meant to do sooner if only she gave him the go-ahead.

It was a reason to tear one of his own apart simply because he had been rude to her.

Corrine’s eyes returned to the ground in thought. His fingers still teased the corners of her lip and face as he urged her to look at nothing but him.

Why was it always so difficult for her to maintain long eye contact with him?

Do you fear me that much, Anais?

She looked up when he gently moved her towards him. His embrace was warm and soft, like a pillow. One hand rested at the back of her head as the other curved possessively around her waist.

She felt his soft sigh of satisfaction when he got to hold her like that. The hug lasted so long that Corrine began to believe he would never let her go.

Half of her face buried on his chest as she took in his calming scent. One that had a relaxing effect on her. Her dark green eyes fluttered shut as he made her feel safe again.

What are you doing?

Corrine blinked as she found herself leaning more to his touch.

Have you gone mad?!

Her dark green gaze flickered to the side in alarm. As if someone had touched the most reasonable part of her again. The one that wasn’t needy or weak or easy to manipulate.

You are literally letting the king of all these monsters hold you again. Giving him the opportunity to drag you back to that room and watch over you day and night like a creep!

After all you’ve done to escape him. Would you really let him think you are so easy to catch and restrain with a few warm hugs or compassion?!

Corrine gasped, feeling her heart beat wildly in her chest as the image of his terrifying serpent form flashed before her eyes once more. The memory of it was haunting enough to snap her out of whatever he was doing to her.

Corrine pushed him with all of her might. It took Grim off guard because he stumbled. And Corrine made sure there was just enough distance between them this time.

But something else bothered her again. It made her feel on edge. Her arms clenched into tight fists when it took him so long to recover from the shock of pulling away from him.

She stood there with her heart racing a thousand miles per hour. Heat flooded every part of her being as she waited for how he was going to respond.

The ancient primordial being of Eden was hurt. Gravely hurt by how excessively sensitive she was to his touch. As if she was instantly repulsed if he touched a part of her.

His eyes moved, feeling his anger, his frustration...jealousy and obsession pouring down on him at once.

She hadn’t been this volatile when that human touched her before.

He moved as his eyes slowly found hers.

Just what do I have to do to make you mine completely?

It wasn’t my fault that I was made in a way that hurt you the most.

But I am trying my best here...

He said as his eyes locked on hers. They were soft, gentle and pleading. Hers were hard and filled with disgust and fear.

He hated it so much.

....but it seems like the harder I try the farther beyond my reach you drifted.

He needed something quick to pour out his anger on. Why was the creator so cruel to him to make him in the fashion that will attract everything except the love of his life.

He saw how she planned to run away again but something else pulled at the string that held back his monstrous side.

He felt his demons stir within him as his eyes locked down on the red mark visible even from a distance around the small of her neck.

He felt his eyes flare up like gasoline to burning flames at the sight of the mark.

They moved from hers to the demons kneeling far behind her in disbelief.

He strangled her enough to leave that mark on her?

A dangerous expression settled across his face. The thunder that shook the earth distracted Rahz enough for the flash of lightning to reveal the fear in his gaze.

’’Congratulations.’’

Azazel said with a blank look enough for the demon trembling beside him to hear.

’’You just dug your own grave by hurting the only thing he cared about the most.’’

Uh..?

Rahz turned to Azazel quickly. His face was still riddled in confusion as he was too slow to catch up on the weight of his sins.

Azazel turned slowly. His dark green gaze freezing the monster in place.

’’She is the human he gave up his life wing to bring back from the dead.’’

Rahz felt fear like never before. His mouth fell open in disbelief as he could not fathom this new revelation. His eyes then moved quickly towards the prince of hell and it was clear in that golden gaze that locked on him that...he would be the first demon to be devoured whole by the snake of eden.

The first demon to encounter such an enigma and offend him even before he got the chance to meet him first.

Tears slipped out of his eyes and rolled down his cheeks in horrid shock.

But it was already too late to beg for forgiveness, wasn’t it?

’’Good luck trying to convince him that she was the lowly whore that tried to seduce you and you strangled her enough to leave a mark to show how gentle you were in refusing her.’’

Azazel rolled his eyes and rose to his feet. The demonlord stepped aside to avoid getting the blood of the ingrate anywhere near him.

Rahz turned to the demonlord and considered begging him to help. It was worse being watched afar by the predator than having it charge down on him to tear out his lungs for his sin.

He never believed—no, imagine a being so secluded and mysterious. A being they know most about in books and legends of it. The being that was molded and shaped by the red dragon itself and the notorious queen mother of hell. Never in his wildest dream did he ever imagine a mere mortal to be so protected by such a being.

Loved enough to turn against his own kind and give them that silent predatory look.

Rahz choked and cried out in fear when the primordial being slowly began to approach him.

Corrine turned on her heels as he moved past her and towards the demon kneeling, trembling and begging for his life. Her eyes wide enough to wonder what he was trying to do to the demon.

’’I deserve to die...I deserve to die...I deserve to die...’’ He said, while pushing back on his knees as the ancient being approached him slowly.

’’Please, I’m sorry...I didn’t know she was a goddess,’’ he confessed quickly, feeling his life already slipping from him before Grim even got the chance to dismember him for his audacity.

It was the first time seeing a demon cry and tremble so much in fear. Azazel pointed out from the corner he watched and observed silently. His hands clenching at his sides as there was no other way to save another demon perishing all because of that seductress.

Azazel’s gaze moved towards the object of his resentment and glared hard enough to make it obvious to Corrine.

She turned to him and locked eyes with her new enemy and felt...judged from head to toe. The acrimony he felt towards this lowly thing was too much to be suppressed or let go.

She could not even have the decency to stop him from murdering another demon in her name.

Azazel’s glare burned hard enough to drill holes.

Well, what else did he expect from a human that lacked shame? The one powerful enough to place her hand over his highness’s face, clouding all reasonable thoughts and sealing his mind and having him completely under her control.

His eyes narrowed into sharp slits of distaste.

In those slits lingered a promise.

I will be the one to bring down all your high temples, and put your seductive powers to shame.

An image of Corrine moving behind his blindfolded master as she smirked with great pleasure while pulling the strings flashed before his eyes.

That was how he viewed their relationship—-that was even if it was right to call it that—-from afar.

I will be your ruin before you become his ruin.
