Chapter 91: Wicked Lies
’’What?’’
The moron mumbled out to him again. Feigning ignorance at who she was and at what he had just done.
He wanted to make him understand what he had just done but waved it off. His hard green eyes returned to the human still struggling and finding it hard to keep it together quickly before...
Azazel stiffened when all his sharp senses were triggered by the weight of a burning stare behind them.
He couldn’t even reach the human and helped her back on her feet and cover up whatever happened today so as to spare them all from the wrath and punishment of the serpent.
But with the way his hair rose and stood erect on every part of his body. The tingling sensation teasing his spine and wrecking his heartbeat. Azazel stood slowly from the human and turned to look behind him.
He gulped.
Already feeling their life force slowly draining away underneath the mercy of those burning gold eyes.
It was already too late.
’’Tell me, Azazel. What exactly is this whore matter to you to dare stop me from tearing her apart?’’
Azazel said nothing. Hell, he didn’t move an inch.
If he wanted to die so badly, then don’t drag him along to the grave.
’’Your Royal Highness!’’ He greeted quickly, falling on one knee in submission. Rahz felt his heart—no his entire organs move in a nauseating way at the call of the prince of hell.
He turned around quickly with parted lips and stared with his eyes wide in admiration of the enigma.
He had only heard of him and his greatness and might. But only a few have had the privilege of seeing him in the flesh.
His mouth hung open as he met with the golden eyes of the snake of eden.
The forbidden fruit.
And he has never been this awed by anything like this before in his life.
He said nothing as his eyes remained on his heart that had been bullied right in front of him.
He was here when the demon said all those filthy things to her. Things he would rather let the worst of him listen to than her.
He watched her. Too shocked to even move or do anything.
She must fear and hate him now completely.
If his people were this worse and aggressive towards something he wanted to always treat with precious respect, then...
His next thoughts grew bitter at the back of his throat.
He felt guilty and bad on behalf of the monster that threatened to take her down and ruin her beyond what he could ever fix for him.
The silence was enough to call in a storm.
He felt ashamed, angry, sad, disappointed...all negative emotions all at once at the sight of her.
But one emotion topped it all.
Corrine finally stared up and their eyes met. A trickle of blood wet her lips and trailed down the length of her chin. He saw how her eyes widened on him as if he was much worse than the two that stood beside her.
’’Y–Your Royal Highness,’’ Razh humbly called, falling quickly on his knees in acknowledgement of a being much greater and older than him. A small satisfactory smile on his crude lips as he appeared calm and humble...almost like the victim before the prince of hell.
’’Razhiel greets His Royal Highness.’’
Lightning and thunder lit the night sky in terror.
Sending quiet shockwaves on the earth beneath.
’’It’s an honor to be before you.’’
He said so respectfully, it surprised Corrine. He saw how she turned and gave him a disbelieving look.
This is my chance. I have always wanted to be recognized and noticed by the demons with royal and divine blood in them. Who would have thought the serpent himself would descend from his high place and grant me this golden opportunity.
Razhiel smiled to himself mischievously as he remained on his knees. Azazel gives him one pitiful yet shameful stare.
Razhiel looked up and saw how the primordial being looked at the whore behind him. He couldn’t understand what that look meant, but he was ready and determined to use whatever means to get justice for his honor that had been humiliated by some random human that probably got lost and ended up in a society filled with bloodthirsty demons.
He scoffed as another mischievous idea formed. He cast her one last look of hatred, one that promised to have found a cruel way to get rid of her finally.
’’Your Royal Highness, I plead for you to have mercy on me and fight on my behalf. This lowly human whore walked in here earlier and got lost.’’
Azazel squeezed his eyes tight shut.
Yeah, there really wasn’t any hope saving him now, was there?
’’She tried to seduce me multiple times and told her respectfully to find her way out of here.’’
’’She even tried to force herself on me several times and when I refused, she became frustrated and violent.’’
Corrine could not believe this devil and his wicked lies.
’’She hit my head with the flower pot...’’ he pointed to the broken shards of the flower vase beside them and continued with, ’’And slapped me hard across the face.’’
He turned his cheek to show the evidence of her slap. Corrine’s mouth parted at him in shock.
He watched every bit of her reaction and loved how she trusted him to handle everything rather than trying to defend herself. Even if he was far away and arrived after everything had happened, he would believe no one but her. Even if she was guilty of it or not, he would never harm her to please a nobody.
’’And...and when I tried to defend myself. She took a sharp piece of the broken glass and hurt herself in the process to accuse me of what it is not. Isn’t that right, Lord Azazel?’’
Azazel turned and locked eyes with the foolish demon and shook his head at him in pity.
Razh blinked, not understanding why Azazel wouldn’t back him up this time.
Slowly, Corrine was lifted up by his golden aura and carried before her gently towards where he stood. The girl gasped when his two fingers moved and the protective bubble of magic that surrounded her dropped her gently on her feet before him.
Razh eyes were red in disbelief. He didn’t want to believe this at first until he turned to Azazel and got the look he dreaded. The look that preceded his downfall and started the hell that was soon to be unleashed upon him that night.
And without mercy.
He moved and wrapped one hand protectively around her waist bringing her close enough to feel safe with him. Corrine’s eyes brightened like the diamonds in the sky at his touch. His golden eyes softened on her gently as he moved his thumb to wipe the blood on her lip.
He said nothing for a while but focused on what he did. He appeared to be in deep thoughts. Her eyes moved all over him in confusion at how differently he treated her.
Unlike the monsters that weren’t as diabolically looking as him.
He was so gentle...
So affectionate...
Like the creepy intern that bothered and haunted every inch and corner of her past life obsessively.
She blinked and found herself staring at him longer than she should have in awe.
’’What do you have in mind, Anais, for me to do to him?’’
It was then Razh knew fear for the very first time in his life.
’’And I promise you will never have to see him again.’’
