Chapter 320-Feeling Like A Stranger
Gigi:
A whole night and an entire day had passed, and not a single person had called or checked on me.
My mother said she’d had to ask Ragnar for permission to see her son, but he’d dismissed her request.
Alpha King Theodore and Jaguar weren’t even answering my parents’ calls.
After Rochelle left, I’d come to my parents’ place, and they were a mess.
My father was calling anyone he thought might be able to help, while my mother lay on the couch, tossing and turning.
My father briefly pulled the phone away from his ear and turned to glare at me.
"Do you know who the most powerful person I can ask for help is?" he asked before adding dramatically, "Your boyfriend. But he’s not going to help us because he’s the reason we’re in this mess."
His words made me lower my gaze and rub my hands anxiously together.
He wasn’t entirely wrong, though.
I just couldn’t understand what had pushed Ragnar to take such a drastic step.
Considering how close Ragnar and I were, even if he’d found out something like this, he should have discussed it with me privately.
He could’ve sat my brother down and made him understand that he could never do anything like that again.
But instead, Ragnar had chosen the worst possible route, one even harsher than the one he’d taken with Justin.
The moment Justin’s name crossed my mind, goosebumps spread across my skin.
I stared into the distance before shaking my head, trying to get rid of all the ridiculous thoughts of guilt crashing over me at once.
"Did you even try to contact that powerful fool?" my father yelled, making me shift farther away from the couch.
"I’m going to go see him," I replied softly.
"Oh, good. Then ask him what reason he had for publicly humiliating my son like this. And if he respected you even a little, he would’ve come to us first before arresting him, before turning the whole thing into a spectacle."
My father kept yelling, and for once, I couldn’t say he was wrong.
Ragnar had done my brother dirty.
He was the reason our family was being subjected to so much shame and humiliation.
I couldn’t understand it.
What had made him do that?
Why had he needed to handle it this way? Why had he taken the entire matter public?
I just didn’t understand.
Then one name struck me.
Verity.
Ragnar had been with Verity when it came to my brother.
Did that mean Ragnar and Verity had done all of this together?
My brother had confessed everything on record.
Which meant Verity had already put a team together there, and Ragnar had been working with her.
They had sat together, made all these plans, and Ragnar hadn’t let even the slightest hint of it reach me.
I gave my father a small nod before turning and heading toward the mansion.
I just didn’t know how they were going to treat me.
After the way they’d all ignored me and failed to check on me, I couldn’t help wondering if they were somehow angry with me too.
I hoped my brother hadn’t said anything like that.
I mean, I couldn’t bring myself to watch those videos. How was a sister supposed to watch something like that?
That was what upset me the most.
None of the people helping with the situation seemed to realize that those videos should never have gone viral because eventually, they would reach me.
How was a sister supposed to feel about that?
I just felt so low, unloved and unappreciated.
The fact that Jaguar and Theodore had been with me before they heard the news, only to leave my home worried about Verity instead of Oliver, made everything worse.
It felt as though someone had shaken my entire existence just to make me see the true faces of the people around me.
By the time I arrived at the mansion, I was already stunned by the amount of media gathered outside.
"Oh, look! That’s that bastard’s sister!" one of the reporters yelled while trying to get past the stone mansion’s gate.
Every head snapped toward me.
"Turn around. Take us around the back and go in through the rear entrance," I yelled at my driver, hiding behind my Louis Vuitton bag.
"Hey, is it true?"
"Did your brother do it?"
"Did your brother ever tell you?"
"Did you know about all of this?"
The reporters started swarming around my car, pounding on the windows and recording me against my will.
The driver managed to leave them behind with some difficulty by pretending we were simply driving away.
After a while, he took another turn and began following a more secluded route.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked, hissing at him.
"Don’t worry, ma’am. I’m not like your brother. I’m just taking a shortcut, an easier way to get you to the back of the mansion."
My jaw nearly dropped when I heard those words from my driver.
The freaking old man had the nerve to taunt me and my brother.
But I was in no position to complain, so I bit my tongue and waited for the right moment to teach everyone who had wronged us that they were not supposed to mess with us.
When we finally reached the mansion, I got out of the car and rushed inside, not knowing how I was going to be treated there.
It was as if every single person in the mansion had watched those videos.
As I walked inside, the maids, servants, and guards all looked me up and down before leaning toward one another and whispering.
I had never had to go through anything like that before.
Had Ragnar thought about me even once before taking such a step against my brother?
When I reached the left wing, I stopped instead of heading straight toward the Alpha king brother’s room because I could hear Ragnar’s voice coming from there.
Then I realized, of course, Jenna was one of the women they were helping.
And now I had to fucking pretend I felt sorry for her.
Because at that moment, I had to remind myself that my brother had been convicted because of his own admission of guilt.
I couldn’t defend him so openly in front of her.
