Chapter 100: Victini — “Whoa, That’s the Same Trick Sora Uses”
"There's no helping it."
"We'll just have to beat them!"
Korrina was absolutely no weakling.
And Lucario wasn't the only Pokémon she carried.
The girl threw out two Poké Balls, releasing a Mienfoo and a Machoke.
"Let's battle, everyone!!"
Under Korrina's command, the three Pokémon worked together seamlessly, quickly knocking down all the Beedrill.
"Phew~~"
"So troublesome."
The Pokémon Korrina least wanted to encounter in forests were Beedrill.
It had clearly only been a tiny accident.
Lucario hadn't even injured any of them.
Did they really need to hate her this much?
"As expected, I still can't understand what Bug-types are thinking."
Thinking that, Korrina finally had time to ask Lucario:
"Lucario, what happened back there?"
"Why did you suddenly stop?"
"Luca!"
Lucario didn't answer immediately.
Instead, she raised the strange appendages near the sides of her head.
An invisible wave of Aura power spread outward in all directions.
"Hm?"
Korrina blinked in confusion.
"You found something?"
"Luca!!"
Lucario suddenly opened her eyes and stared toward a particular direction.
At the same time, Victini also sensed the unusual wave sweeping over her.
"Oh no, I got spotted!"
Despite still being invisible, Victini found herself meeting Lucario's gaze directly.
"There?"
Korrina looked over.
"But there's nothing there."
"Lucaaa~~~"
Lucario brought her palms together before forming a pose like charging an energy blast.
An Aura Sphere rapidly condensed in front of her.
"Biniii!!!"
Seeing Lucario about to attack, Victini immediately cried out.
"There's a voice!!"
Only then did Korrina finally fully react.
Some kind of invisible Pokémon had been secretly observing them—
but Lucario's Aura had discovered it.
"Stop, Lucario!"
Korrina hurriedly stopped her partner.
The other side had merely been peeking at them and hadn't done anything harmful.
Attacking first would make them the unreasonable ones.
"What a strange power."
Meanwhile, Victini was curiously sensing the Aura emitted by Lucario.
As a Pokémon highly sensitive to all forms of energy, Victini had been discovered earlier simply because she'd never encountered Aura before.
But now…
Gone.
"Bini~~"
Korrina heard Victini's crisp voice echo through the air.
Beside her, Lucario looked utterly stunned.
"Luca?!"
"You're saying it disappeared?"
"Luca! Luca Luca!"
Lucario was even more shocked than Korrina.
She had never imagined a Pokémon capable of concealing its Aura.
How was that even possible?!
Aura was a type of biological energy.
Every living thing—
even inanimate objects—
possessed their own unique Aura signature.
Yet now—
gone.
The target had vanished completely from Lucario's Aura field.
"No… not vanished!"
Lucario suddenly became visibly unsettled.
This unexpected situation clearly made her nervous.
"The opponent… used an opposite Aura frequency to erase my perception?"
In principle, this wasn't overly complicated.
Like how X-rays couldn't penetrate lead, Aura perception wasn't omnipotent either.
It had blind spots.
But the issue was—that was only theory.
Actually pulling it off?
Lucario had absolutely no idea how.
Even if two Lucario faced one another, neither could simply erase themselves from the other's Aura perception.
This wasn't a matter of technique.
As mentioned before, every lifeform and material possessed its own specific Aura signature.
Like Korrina herself.
There could only ever be one Korrina in the world.
No duplicate existed.
So the question became—
how could someone produce an identical Aura signature to collide against and cancel Lucario's own Aura perception?
To Lucario, such a thing was utterly inconceivable.
"Bihihi~"
Watching Lucario panic, Victini found the whole thing hilarious.
Her earlier nervousness from being detected immediately transformed into the delight of a successful prank.
"We can hear the voice, but we still can't pinpoint the location."
As a Gym-trained Trainer, Korrina possessed far more knowledge than someone like Ash.
"Is it a Ghost-type?"
There weren't really invisibility moves among standard Pokémon techniques.
But some Ghost-types naturally possessed abilities like that, disappearing from normal sight.
Situations like this required specific moves to force them into revealing themselves.
"Lucario, Mienfoo, Machoke—"
Thinking quickly, Korrina immediately issued orders:
"Use your widest-range Foresight together!"
"Luca!"
"Miiii!"
"Machoke!!"
The three Pokémon acted simultaneously.
Red light instantly swept across the surrounding forest.
"Bini?"
Victini was struck by Foresight and immediately realized her invisibility had been broken.
In the games, Foresight merely improved move accuracy and prevented evasion.
But in reality, it was a move specifically designed to counter Ghost-types and concealment techniques, preventing targets from hiding themselves.
"Found me, bini."
Victini remained completely calm.
Still clutching her berries, she casually floated in the air while staring at the human and her three Pokémon with interest.
"What kind of Pokémon is that?!"
Korrina finally saw Victini clearly.
And precisely because she saw her—
she became even more confused.
A strange V-shaped body.
She looked somewhat like a flying squirrel with three pairs of tiny yellow wings behind her.
Forget Korrina—
even native Unova residents probably wouldn't recognize Victini immediately.
Only the artisans in Eindoak who handcrafted Victini merchandise truly knew of the local legend—
Victini, the Victory Star.
Even Kimia had only recalled Victini's origins after hearing her name.
"Luca!"
Lucario stared at Victini cautiously.
"Why were you spying on us?"
"What's your objective?!"
She didn't care whether Victini was some legendary Pokémon or not.
Anything that could potentially harm Korrina would always put Lucario on full alert.
"Bini?"
Victini blinked innocently.
Rather than approach, she slowly floated in a circle around them.
"I don't have any bad intentions."
"I just saw you getting chased around by bees and came over to take a look."
"Relax, Lucario."
"I think this little one doesn't mean us any harm."
Korrina found Victini incredibly cute and gestured for Lucario to lower her battle stance so they wouldn't scare the mysterious Pokémon.
