Pokémon: Starting From Zero as a Legendary Pokémon

Chapter 84 84: Carbink: “The Imperial Army Asked Me to Deliver a Message”

"Haha."

Sora laughed.

"As expected of the big sister. Then when the time comes, I'll leave taking care of Ralts to you too, Lady Lilligant."

"Lilli~~"

Lilligant happily accepted, looking full of anticipation.

"Sylve."

Sora called over Sylveon, who was currently playing nearby.

"Bui!"

The little one hopped over and landed in front of him, looking up with an adorable cry.

"How've things been going with Kimia's Sylveon lately?"

"Bui~"

Over the past few days, Sylveon had been learning moves from the other Sylveon.

Pokémon moves generally fell into two categories:

One type was naturally learned as a Pokémon leveled up.

The other required the use of Technical Machines.

Oh, right.

TMs in reality weren't nearly as convenient as they were in the games.

There was no such thing as instant one-click learning.

So-called "learning machines" were more like recordings of the process of teaching a move, replayed for Pokémon to study and imitate.

Likewise, if another Pokémon already knew the move and personally taught it, the result was essentially the same.

Since both were Sylveon of the same species, learning directly from one another was incredibly effective.

Sylveon had gained a huge amount from the experience, and her learning speed had become astonishingly high.

"Bui~~"

Sylveon proudly declared that she had learned many new moves and wanted to demonstrate them for Sora.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!"

Seeing her getting more and more excited, Sora hurriedly stopped her.

"Not indoors. Absolutely not."

"Bui…"

Sylveon lowered her ears sheepishly, realizing she'd almost forgotten they were still inside.

"When we get the chance, let me take a look at your full moveset."

Sora planned to stay in the Kingdom of Azoth for a while longer before departing for his next destination.

The Legendary Pokémon available in Kalos weren't something he could acquire overnight.

Aside from the gods of Life, Death, and Order, the remaining options were Volcanion, Diancie, and Hoopa.

Magearna technically belonged more to Alola than Kalos in terms of regional classification.

"Volcanion has already joined."

"That leaves Diancie and Hoopa."

Hoopa was likely still under the protection of the people from Dahara City.

Trying to take over custody of Hoopa from them would not be easy.

At the very least, before obtaining the power of a true god-tier Pokémon, Sora had no confidence in persuading the descendants of the Valley of Creation.

"Diancie, princess of the Diamond Domain…"

The Diamond Domain existed deep underground in the Kalos region, essentially functioning as an ecosystem entirely separate from the surface world.

Many Rock- and Ground-type Pokémon lived there.

"Trying to search directly for Diancie is impossible."

Kalos was enormous.

Who knew where exactly Diancie might be hiding?

"But if I'm only trying to locate the Diamond Domain itself…"

At that moment, a line from an old comedy skit popped into Sora's mind:

"The Imperial Army asked me to deliver a message."

That's right.

Sora planned to find a guide.

And who was the best candidate?

Without question—

Carbink.

According to the lore, Carbink were born deep underground under extreme heat and pressure, remaining asleep beneath the earth for hundreds of millions of years after birth.

In the movie, Diancie, as princess of the Diamond Domain, had three attendants named Argus, Marilyn, and Joy, all of whom were Carbink.

Of course, Sora wasn't stupid enough to randomly grab a Carbink and ask whether it happened to be one of Diancie's ministers.

That would be like searching for a needle in the ocean.

"But since they're all Carbink, there's a good chance they know about the Diamond Domain."

Sora planned to ask Kimia for help locating some Carbink and gathering information from them about the Diamond Domain.

As long as he could find the Diamond Domain, Diancie wouldn't be far away.

As for convincing Diancie to join his team—

Sora already had a plan in mind.

That wasn't the issue.

"The key problem is simply meeting her first."

At that point, all the Legendary Pokémon in Kalos that Sora potentially wanted to recruit had been accounted for.

Since he had decided to settle in Kalos—

he intended to try approaching every Legendary Pokémon he possibly could.

And so, Sora officially settled down in the Kingdom of Azoth.

During the day, he would enjoy breakfast with Kimia at her invitation.

Afterward, he'd ride Volcanion into the wilds to train his Pokémon.

"So tired…"

Kimia has been incredibly busy recently.

Not only was she handling all of Sora's paperwork, she was also cleaning up the mess left behind by Jarvis.

The workload had left the princess thoroughly exhausted.

Still—it was the kind of exhaustion mixed with happiness.

Having such a bright future ahead of her was exactly what Kimia wished for.

Fortunately, she wasn't struggling alone.

Her aide Fleur-de-lis was exceptionally capable and greatly reduced her burden.

"Then I'll leave it to you, Fleur."

"Please make sure Mister Sora truly understands the sincerity of the Kingdom of Azoth."

Knowing she was too busy herself, Kimia entrusted the task of hosting Sora to Fleur.

"Please rest assured."

The girl wore a black dress, with neat chin-length hair.

Behind her black-framed glasses, her naturally colored eyes radiated intelligence and composure.

She was Kimia's most trusted aide and personal secretary.

And an additional note—

she had actually been the first person to suspect Jarvis's conspiracy.

Long before everything came to light, Fleur had repeatedly warned the princess in subtle ways that Jarvis was feeding dangerous ideas to Raleigh and urged her to take the matter seriously.

Kimia had frequently argued with Jarvis because of this.

Unfortunately, Jarvis had concealed his actions too well, leaving them unable to obtain decisive evidence.

After all, he had been the kingdom's prime minister.

Expelling him recklessly would have damaged the royal family's authority.

Fleur had constantly worried over the matter.

What she never expected was for Jarvis to suddenly collapse overnight, with all associated personnel arrested and imprisoned.

"All of this was thanks to Mister Sora."

Fleur knocked on Sora's door.

A moment later, the neatly dressed Sora opened it.

"Good morning, Mister Sora."

"Morning, Miss Fleur."

Sora greeted her politely.

Fleur then explained:

"Her Highness is overwhelmed with official duties today, so she sent me to guide you to the area planned for the preserve."

"Mm, then I'll be in your care."

According to Kimia's plans, today Sora would head to Nebel Plateau to select the future location of the sanctuary.

The size, the location—

everything would be entirely up to him.
