Chapter 108: Grand Anvil
The absolute silence that followed the devouring of the solar river was heavier than the heat.
The primary trench of the Sun-Forge, previously a roaring artery of liquid plasma, was now a jagged, smoking canyon of dry star-metal. Kaelen stood at the center of the devastation, his bare chest heaving slightly as his Level 110 Primordial Sovereign core digested the sheer, catastrophic volume of thermal mass he had just swallowed.
Faint, golden veins temporarily pulsed beneath his skin, aggressively clashing with his dark runes before being violently assimilated into the Original Sin.
Above him, Ariel dropped from the bruising orange sky, her six void-metal wings creating a localized vortex of cooling shadow. The Supreme Commander landed gracefully beside her Emperor, her corrupted blue eyes widening as she took in the completely dry trench.
"You drank a star, Master," Ariel breathed, a shiver of pure, unadulterated awe running down her spine.
"It tasted like bleached iron," he rumbled, rolling his broad shoulders. He looked up at the colossal, floating fortress of the Grand Anvil. It was a massive, inverted pyramid of celestial bronze, hovering directly over the dimensional leylines of the Fourth Choir. "But it cleared the road. Move the infantry up."
"Legions! Forward!" Ariel roared over the telepathic network.
The ten thousand Void-iron Brutes, invigorated by the sheer, world-ending display of their Emperor, slammed their heavy meat cleavers against their tower shields. The deafening, rhythmic crash echoed across the hyper-volcanic realm as they surged over the dry star-metal, mercilessly slaughtering the disorganized, utterly terrified remnants of the Forge-Angels.
Up on the bridge of The Eater of Dawn, Elara was practically vibrating out of her soot-stained coat.
"He ate it! He mathematically deleted a localized tsunami!" Elara shrieked, slamming her hands against the corrupted logic console. She spun toward the viewport, her emerald eyes locking onto the floating fortress. "Oh, the Archon thinks he is safe up there! Let us bring him down to our level!"
"Elara," Kaelen’s voice crackled through the Abyssal Trinity link, calm and lethal. "Anchor the dreadnought. Yank the Anvil from the sky."
"Anchors locking! Gravity drives conceptually inverting!" Elara giggled maniacally.
The massive Abyssal Dreadnought violently groaned as it forcefully anchored itself to the bedrock of the Sun-Forge. The jagged, necrotic violet cannons along its hull did not fire outward this time. Instead, they projected a massive, localized tether of hyper-dense, entropic gravity directly upward, wrapping conceptually around the floating fortress of the Grand Anvil.
"Pull!" Elara screamed.
The sky tore. The mathematical equations that allowed the massive celestial bronze pyramid to float were violently violently overwritten by the raw, heavy ambition of the Abyss.
High above, the Forge-Archon let out a staticky cry of panic as his pristine fortress violently violently lurched. The repulsor engines shrieked, burning blinding white as they desperately tried to fight the Abyssal gravity, but it was useless.
The Grand Anvil was forcefully, violently dragged out of the sky.
It plummeted. The sheer mass of the fortress colliding with the ground triggered a localized earthquake that knocked Forge-Angels and Brutes alike off their feet. The impact actively shattered the outer bronze walls of the pyramid, exposing the blinding, roaring core of the celestial forge within.
[System Notification: The Grand Anvil has been grounded.]
[Ambient holy leylines in Sector 4 are critically destabilizing.]
He didn’t wait for the dust to settle.
He moved with terrifying, kinetic speed, becoming a blur of localized shadow. He leaped over the shattered bronze barricades and landed directly inside the central forging chamber of the crashed fortress.
The chamber was a cathedral of industry. Massive, glowing hammers hung from the ceiling, and racks of unblemished solar swords lined the walls. But Kaelen’s pitch-black eyes were fixed entirely on the Forge-Archon.
The Level 135 Exalted entity stood before the primary celestial forge. He possessed eight wings of solid, burning logic, his body encased in hyper-dense, Exalted-tier star-metal armor. He was not a scribe. He was the master of heaven’s armory.
"You will not corrupt this sanctuary, Heretic," the Archon broadcasted, his telepathic voice heavy with fanatical desperation.
The Archon reached into the roaring white fire of the primary forge and pulled out a weapon that had not yet cooled. It was a massive, two-handed warhammer forged from pure, unadulterated solar logic. The heat radiating from it was so intense it actively distorted the local time-space around the Archon’s hands.
"I forge the absolute truth of the Goddess!" the Archon roared, launching himself at Kaelen. "Axiom of the Creator: World-Breaker!"
The Archon swung the blazing hammer down in a devastating, overhead arc. It was an attack designed to conceptually flatten mountains.
He drew his Void-Steel longsword. He didn’t dodge. He met the Archon head-on.
He swung his blade upward, channeling the full, catastrophic weight of the Original Sin directly into the void-diamond edge.
The collision of the Abyssal sword and the solar hammer was absolute. The kinetic shockwave actively blew the heavy bronze walls of the chamber outward, vaporizing the racks of celestial weapons into sparkling dust.
But the math failed.
The raw, chaotic density of Kaelen’s Level 110 Primordial Sovereign core fundamentally out-scaled the sterile, filtered holy mana of the Archon’s hammer. The void-metal blade didn’t just block the strike; it cleanly, effortlessly sheared straight through the head of the Exalted warhammer.
The blinding white logic of the weapon violently shattered, exploding into harmless golden sparks.
The Archon stumbled forward, his momentum completely broken, his perfectly ordered mind unable to calculate how his ultimate creation had just been unmade.
"Truth is not forged, Archon," he whispered roughly, stepping into the angel’s guard. "It is unearthed."
He drove his left hand directly through the hyper-dense star-metal breastplate of the Archon. The God-Eater authority violently flared, entirely bypassing the angel’s physical defenses. He gripped the Archon’s massive, glowing silver core and forcefully injected a localized singularity of Abyssal rot.
The Archon let out a harrowing, mechanical scream as ten thousand years of repressed primordial agony aggressively flooded his circuits. His eight wings of burning logic violently flashed violet before instantly decaying into black ash.
He ripped the core free.
The massive, Exalted-tier celestial entity collapsed to the floor, reduced to a hollow, lifeless shell of dead star-metal.
[Hostile Entity Eliminated: Forge-Archon of the Fourth Choir (Level 135). +60,000,000 EXP.]
[Level Up! Host is now Level 112.]
[Milestone Reached: The Anvil of the Abyss.]
He crushed the massive silver core in his fist, instantly devouring its Exalted logic. He closed his eyes, exhaling a breath of heavy, dark smoke as the immense power settled into his leylines.
Behind him, the heavy footsteps of his Vanguard echoed in the ruined chamber. Seraphina stepped through the shattered doorway, her armor completely soaked in boiling gold, an intoxicating, bloodthirsty smile plastered across her face.
"The trenches are cleared, Master," Seraphina purred, resting the Eclipse Breaker on her shoulder. "The remaining Forge-Angels have surrendered. Though... the Brutes are still eating a few of them."
"Let them feast," he rumbled, turning around to face his Demigoddess of War. "They have earned it."
Elara bounded into the room a moment later, completely ignoring the dead Archon on the floor. Her emerald eyes were glued to the roaring, unblemished white fire of the primary celestial forge.
"Oh... oh my," Elara breathed, dropping to her knees before the massive forge. "Master... the dimensional artery here... it taps directly into the ambient kinetic energy of the cosmos. It’s infinite."
He walked over and rested his hand heavily on Elara’s head.
"It is yours now, Grand Architect," he proclaimed, his voice echoing across the conquered dimension. "I want you to use this forge to melt down every ounce of celestial bronze we just captured. Build me more dreadnoughts. Build me weapons that can conceptually erase their Exalted castes."
Elara looked up at him, her face completely flushed with manic, unadulterated devotion.
"I won’t just build dreadnoughts, my Demigod," she giggled, her alchemical brands aggressively flaring as she looked at the infinite well of plasma. "With an artery this size... I can build the siege cannon. I can build a weapon that will literally crack the gates of the Goddess’s throne room."
His dark smile deepened. The Ascendant Court didn’t just have an army anymore. They had the infrastructure of an apocalypse.
"Get to work, Elara," he commanded. "Because heaven is currently bleeding in the dark. And soon, they are going to come looking for a savior."
