Day 11 – Slow Progress 5
The perhaps turned into a definitive in Alex’s mind within a few moments of reasonable thought. What was he accomplishing here that could not be done on a day with better visibility?
“We do as Valeria said,” Alex declared.
Their little train of people changed direction. Alex remained at the front. All they did was follow the path they had come. A fact that was not as easy as it sounded. The rain had already washed away most traces of their steps and steam geysers undid the rest.
There was a rumbling under his feet. A treacherous tremor that triggered the urgent need to book it. “RUN!” Alex yelled at all of them, then grabbed Sofia. The Estonian woman yelped in surprise when she was thrown over his shoulder. It was not the sexy sort of grab at all. He held her in place with one arm and she focused on remaining stiff as he sprinted for where he thought the treeline was.
It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Sofia to be fast, only that he did not consider it worthwhile to take chances with this. Niara and her wolf almost kept up with him, the Olympic sprinter putting to show just how well her body had been sculpted for the task. Valeria was not far behind, tall and fit in her own right.
Behind them, the ground burst open. Steam angrily hissed and roared. Alex heard the will of a creature in it all, a note of hatred that mingled in with the sounds of nature. Heat broke against the necklace. It had been worth its weight in gold four times over that day already, saving them from so much scorching heat.
Alex did not look back, not until they had made it back into the treeline. Breathing heavy and controlled, he stopped between two trees. His feet were atop the pleasant firmness of woven roots. There, he put Sofia down.
“There was a face in the steam,” she blurted out, without being prompted. “A snake-like… thing with black eyes!”
“I felt it,” Alex said.
“Same,” Valeria agreed.
Niara just nodded.
Sofia ran a hand through her hair. The long strands were soaked through from the rain and had stuck to her face. What she had seen burst the frame of all that they could have explained in their civilized life. That life was far behind them now. Still, a face in a steam explosion was… greater than many things they had encountered so far. There had been competition, like the incubus or the eldritch swirl, but those had been benevolent encounters
This was not, this was dangerous.
Alex looked up in a desperate bid to find the sun. The cover of thunderclouds remained as insistent as the rumbling. Although he could not see the sun to estimate how much time had passed yet today, he was certain enough that they were already many hours into the day. The storm had made everything slower.
“I think we have to head back now,” he told all of them. “If we move further away, we won’t get back to the meeting point before nightfall.”
“We can scout this area a little?” Sofia suggested.
Alex looked into the jungle. The nearby, now cooled, scar in the land where they had fought the elemental gave him enough to orient himself as to where they had and had not yet been. Not that he expected to have seen all these islands had to offer for a long time, anyhow. Jungles could hide the greatest of secrets between ferns and tree trunks.
“We have the time for that,” he agreed.
They set out northwards, then moved in gradually growing circles. Stopping periodically, Alex either had Sofia etch markings into tree bark or he committed a specific piece of landscape to memory. One could not be careful enough when it came to staying oriented, not even a highly talented pilot and survivalist should rely purely on their spatial memory and inner compass.
Compared to usual exploration, their pace currently was slow. Finding interesting things in a specific area differed greatly from filling out Alex’s mental map of the lay of these islands. Every time they stopped, Valeria climbed up nearby trees to look at everything from a different angle.
Alex found the sight of her scaling up the branches quite mesmerizing. The way various muscle groups worked in unity to lift her curvaceous body off the ground and into the woodwork was nothing short of awe-inspiring. She balanced with the grace of a panther, once among the branches. Her grip was firm, her crawling fluid, her pulls and swings proof of hundreds of hours of repetition. Stern-faced, her green eyes scanned the area. Her head locked in position. She leaned slightly one way, then another.
Elegantly, she tilted forwards, dropping off the branch and then landing next to Niara. Cats and dogs supposedly didn’t get along, but the climber had no problem scratching Cania’s ears as she informed all of them, “There’s some structure in that direction.” A pointed finger told the rest of the story.
They would have absolutely missed the structure on foot alone. It was entirely overgrown and surrounded on all sides by tall, dense bushes that perhaps had once been a hedge of some kind. Valeria had only seen it because, from an angle, the sharp corners of the stones jutted out between the vines and ivy.
The structure was about two and a half metres tall. Where the walls could still be seen beneath the greenery, the typical mixture of ancient Greek and Aztec aesthetics was evident in carvings that depicted flowing winds and sprinting cats. They were etched into a strip of light brown stones that contrasted sharply with the grey ones used above and below.
Finding the entrance was easy enough. Alex gently poked the stones around the curved entrance, testing their firmness before he took the first step inside. Roots and branches of the ivy had dug into the mortar over the ages. One of the walls and most of the roof had come down a long time ago, dust and dirt filling the gaps between the rocks. The building had a singular room, appropriately sized for a gathering of ten, maybe fifteen people. A statue in the back was the clear reason for that gathering.
Although the head and a paw had been splintered off by the fallen roof, the shape of a large cat was still clearly apparent in the shape of the body. Engraved spots further made clear what kind of large cat: a jaguar.
“A temple?” Niara theorized.
“Likely,” Alex agreed, trying to find anything of interest. Although there were interesting pieces of faded artwork, there was nothing he could immediately spot that was either worth taking or offered further insight on the nature of these islands and their curse of infertility.
Rather than spend a long time moving rubble, Alex turned to Valeria.
“Do you sense something?” he asked. In the past, the variety of monster girl that his haremettes were turning into had allowed them to tap into esoterically linked places. The cat woman feeling something in the cat temple was the best bet he had.
Valeria moved her naked body past him. For more than a brief moment, his gaze was stuck to her round rear and the shifting of her cheeks as she lightly stepped. How would a cat tail’s swishing and swooshing emphasize the wiggle of those hips? An exceptionally important question.
“There is something,” the climber said. She walked a circle around the feline statue. Her eyes fell on a spot in the pedestal that appeared utterly mundane to Alex. After brushing over it, she continued to circle around the pedestal, only to then move to one of the outer walls.
Alex watched with some trepidation as one of his beloved women climbed the derelict wall of the temple. She was barely half a metre up, but a collapsing wall was dangerous regardless of height. ‘Would be idiotic to question her on if she knows what she is doing,’ he warned himself.
Valeria’s fingers held onto tiny grooves in the wall, her feet found purchase on miniscule bumps, and bit for bit she climbed around the wall, towards the entrance. Once there, she scaled upwards, following the diagonal of the foundation of the roof.
When her hand made contact with the last stone, it loosened. When it fell away, it revealed behind it a small compartment. Valeria reached inside and pulled out a book.
Valeria dropped back to the ground with feline grace. “There you go,” she said, a mild, self-satisfied purr to her tone.
Before he took the book, Alex rewarded her with a deep kiss. His tongue swirled around hers, while his fingers scratched the base of her cat ears. The mild purr intensified. The half-black, half-Hispanic woman curved against him, her large breasts in all of their delicious firmness spilling on his chest. She left enough of a gap between them to wrap her free hand around his swiftly hardening cock.
Alex grunted into the kiss. Passion swiftly took over. A hand on her ass, stabilized Valeria as she got on her toes. At almost 1,90 metres tall, she was one of the few women around that he could fuck standing. It required stretching and balancing on her part, but the cat woman was nothing if not stretchy and well-balanced. Her arms around his neck allowed her to pull herself up until he could penetrate her.
Drenched walls enveloped him. Passion ran hot and wild through their veins. The position demanded he limited himself to shallow, quick thrusts. Neither of them needed more. Within just a few minutes of spontaneous penetration, Valeria’s depths contracted around his manhood in a swift climax.
Just a few seconds later, Alex loaded her up with a fresh load from his heavy balls. It had been a low release day, a statement that still felt absurd to think when he had cum several times during breakfast alone. Still, after hours walking in the rain, this was his first release in hours. It felt like he had not cum in days.
The potent seed made Valeria’s eyelids flutter. Without a single break, their kiss continued, his tongue now utterly dominating hers. They were tightly locked, chest to chest, his hands on her rear. He gleefully remained until her cunt relaxed enough for him to pull out.
Breathing hard but controlled, Valeria turned to their companions. “It would be a waste to just let it drip out of me.” She spread her twitching cunt with her fingers, just as the first trickle of white emerged from her pink depths.
Niara and Sofia immediately took the offer. Squatting down in front of her, the Estonian and the Kenyan woman each put their tongue to her pussy. The two sex slaves made out with each other while lapping up the cum. Valeria closed her eyes, riding her way to another orgasm.
While his tomboys had their fun with each other, Alex inspected the book. It was considerably more ornate than the diary that they had found the day before. Golden inlays on the cover made it shimmer. Both the binding and the paper itself were of much greater quality as well. The ink was very clear on a remarkably white page. The script, however, remained unknown.
‘Some kind of holy text,’ Alex theorized.
He handed it off to Niara as soon as they were done with giving Valeria a cat wash. They would bring it back inside the Storage Gauntlet. Best case, it would help Ashley in her deciphering efforts. Worst case, it would be another pretty display item.
After that, they only had the choice between sleeping outdoors or returning home. Thus, under the cover of trees, they wandered westwards. Halfway through the return trip, they had to start relying on the light crystals to get a proper view of the path ahead.
Even if they had lost orientation, it was quite easy to locate the Tree of Harem Life. Any vantage point showed the gargantuan tree in the distance, its red leaves swaying in the winds of the storm.
When they reached it, they found a land altered by its presence. Impossibly, the jungle itself had shuffled aside, like a crowd making room so that a celebrity could pass on through amongst it. Under the wide reached of its branches, the jungle floor had been turned even and clear of all but the most rebellious of young shrubs. The constant wetness on their feet finally found its end. They were not safe from the wind though. Only when they stepped into the tree were they treated to a respite from the howling gusts.
“Ah, quiet,” Sofia said.
Quiet was overstating it. The rumble of thunder still managed to fill reach their ears and the rushing of a million leaves in motion echoed in the extensive entryway. That being said, they no longer had to shout to communicate, so Alex agreed with the sentiment.
No one was near the entrance, but he could hear the voices of some haremettes elsewhere in the building. Before he sought them out, he needed a bath. Most of his legs were covered in soot and mud, and the wind had sprayed similar mixtures all over his body.
Everyone was quick to follow, even Cania. With the wolf in the tub, Alex’s desire to fuck was considerably muted. He did not mind doing it in front of the animal, but there was a degree of separation that had to exist. Without that, it got too weird.
Once they had scrubbed off, they followed the noises to where some of the haremettes were gathered.
“Ya stayed out a lot longer than we thought you would,” Charlotte greeted him. “With the weather being that shit and all.”
“It is, indeed, shit weather,” Alex told her. “Still, got some ground covered today. We’ll show you what we got during the pre-orgy meeting.”
“Interesting, so there was something,” Janette remarked.
Charlotte was currently hanging out with Janette and Blair. The three ex-sluts had their previous friendship, even if they had lost the promiscuity they bonded over before. Alex had been privy enough to their conversations to know that virtually all of their sex talk was now about him and the harem. Nothing before in his or their lives could compare to this level of ecstasy anyhow.
“Anything that happened that I should know about?” Alex asked.
“Nah, we basically stayed indoors all day.”
“Exchanging ‘sapphic energy’,” Blair drawled sarcastically.
Charlotte giggled. There must have been some kind of in-joke that Alex had missed out on. Not that it was difficult to decipher what the phrase meant.
“Well, I hope you like making out with each other as much as I like making out with you.”
“It’s a close second,” Charlotte answered.
“It’s okay,” Blair added, coolly.
“I like it a lot…” Sofia muttered.
“Yeah, but you’re, like… harem-sexual from the get-go,” Charlotte said. “Which is impressive. We’re getting there though.”
Sofia blushed and tugged at her bangs. This must have been the only time in modern history that a woman was happy to have been told it was appreciated how readily she shared her man. Which only served to deepen Alex’s own appreciation for all of this.
‘I have some time before the meeting, might as well spend it hanging out with some of them,’ he thought.
