Chapter 73: Betrayed friend for love?
Madam Perry froze for a few seconds before shaking her head."Abigail can’t do something like that."
Rachel smiled helplessly before answering. "She didn’t. We later found out Susan was the one who tried to humiliate Abigail first." She waved her hand casually. "So it wasn’t Abbie’s fault at all."
Only then did Madam Perry let out a long breath. "I knew it."
She leaned back against the sofa before sighing again. "If Oliver finds out everything that happened..." She rubbed her forehead. "He would have done something much worse."
Caroline blinked several times before pointing at herself."Wait..." She looked between Rachel and Kim So-hee with a nervous face. "You mean... my son is mixed up with all those dangerous people?"
Nobody answered immediately. Caroline’s heart skipped a beat. "The White Fox everyone talks about..." she whispered. "Don’t tell me that’s actually Oliver."
Kim So-hee coughed awkwardly while Rachel looked away, pretending she heard nothing.
Madam Perry simply sighed. Instead of answering, she stood up and walked toward Rachel.
She took the shopping bag from her hands and began checking the clothes inside.
"Hmm...Do you still remember my size?"" Her eyes suddenly widened. She pulled out a bright red lace nightgown.
Rachel smiled proudly. "Of course."
"..."
"..."
Madam Perry raised the dress higher. "Then why on earth did you buy a red lace nightgown?!" Her face instantly became red.
Kim So-hee burst into laughter. Caroline laughed so hard that tears almost came out. Both of them gave Rachel a thumbs-up.
Rachel looked extremely happy. "I knew you’d like it."
"I don’t like it!" Madam Perry shouted.
"You accepted the gift....."
"I accepted the bag! Not this embarrassing thing!"
The room immediately became lively. Their laughter had not even stopped when another voice suddenly came from outside.
"So this is where everyone is."
The room instantly became quiet. Everyone quickly stood up. "Old Master."
The old man walked in slowly with his walking stick, but his sharp eyes still carried an invisible pressure.
He looked around before stopping in front of Madam Perry."So... you dare to run away"
Madam Perry smiled awkwardly. " Ahh... I... I don’t want to take over...."
The old man snorted. "You really thought you could run away forever?"
Pearl lowered her head like a child caught stealing sweets. "I..."
"You escaped once! You escaped twice! You escaped three times." The old man narrowed his eyes. "So I doubled the security."
He raised two fingers proudly. "I also doubled the CCTV cameras."
Pearl’s mouth slowly opened. "What?"
The old man nodded proudly."Try escaping again. You’ll probably be caught before reaching the front gate."
Kim So-hee laughed quietly. Caroline quickly covered her mouth. Rachel simply looked away before she laughed too. " Good job!"
Pearl looked like someone whose soul had left her body. "This is too much..."
The old man wasn’t done yet."Oh, and one more thing. You are not allowed to leave this house."
He paused. "until you kiss Paul in front of everyone."
Pearl’s eyes almost popped out. "What?!" She choked on her own saliva and began coughing violently. "Cough! Cough!"
Kim So-hee quickly patted her back. Caroline laughed without caring about her image anymore. Rachel laughed so hard that she almost fell off the sofa.
The old master folded his arms proudly. "That’s your pass. No kiss! No leaving."
Pearl looked like crying. "But uncle..."
"No negotiation."
"Please..." She knew it’s impossible...
"No!"
"You are bullying me." She yelled angrily!
"I learned from your husband"
" Husband?" She scoffed. She knew very well Paul heart belong to that dead woman and she respected that alot!! That’s why she’s trying to leave him.
That answer made everyone laugh again. Kim So-hee finally grabbed Pearl’s wrist.
"Enough! Come eat before you faint."
Pearl allowed herself to be dragged away while mumbling complaints under her breath.
"I should’ve stayed in the orphanage..." she mumbled.
" Yeah! we love the fact that you were chased hahahaha"
...
At the same time... Abigail slowly opened her eyes. Her head felt heavy. She frowned. "What the..."
The moment she tried to move, she realized something was wrong. She couldn’t. Looking down, she saw thick ropes tied around her body. She was sitting on a wooden chair inside a huge room.
The room was cold. Metal tables stood against the walls. Different sharp tools were neatly arranged everywhere.
Knives. Chains. Iron hooks. Even electric equipment she didn’t recognize.
Abigail looked around calmly before letting out a tired sigh.
"Here we go again."
The large door slowly opened.
Clap.
Clap.
Clap.
Susan walked inside with a bright smile. "Well...What do we have here?" She stopped in front of Abigail. "Are you surprised to see yourself here?"
Abigail looked around dramatically before nodding. "Oh, of course i’m verryyyy surprised."
Her sarcastic tone almost made Susan grind her teeth."You still have the mood to joke?"
Abigail shrugged. "If I cry, will you untie me?"
Susan’s smile disappeared."You ruined my life."
Susan took a deep breath. "After that scandal...My parents told the whole world I was adopted destroyed everything I worked for."
Her voice gradually became louder. " spent years trying to become Delia! The perfect daughter! The daughter everyone admired!"
"They even sent Delia abroad while I stayed to protect the family’s image." Susan laughed bitterly. "And in the end...I wasn’t even their real daughter."
Abigail quietly looked at her. Somehow... Those words reminded her of her own family. The people who abandoned their real daughter just to protect the adopted one.
"You really are an idiot."
Susan froze.
Abigail continued. "Instead of appreciating the family that raised you...You wanted to destroy them."
"You had parents, a home.A good life. And you still chose jealousy." she shook her head. "You don’t deserve them."
Susan laughed coldly. "Say whatever you want, it won’t change anything." She slowly bent closer. "Because after today...Your life will never be the same again."
She smiled proudly."Oh...By the way...How does it feel....to be betrayed by your best friend?"
Abigail frowned. "What?"
Footsteps echoed behind Susan. A familiar figure slowly walked into the room.
Miranda. Her head remained lowered. She refused to look at Abigail."I’m sorry..."Her voice sounded soft. " I want Oliver for myself "
Susan smiled proudly. "See? I told you....No friendship lasts forever."
She snapped her fingers. The door opened again. Three half-naked men walked inside. Each of them looked at Abigail with greedy eyes.
Susan casually picked up her phone. "Don’t take it easy with her."
One of the men suddenly hesitated. "She’s too beautiful." He looked uncomfortable. "I..."
Another man pushed him aside impatiently. "Coward." He hurried toward Abigail with an ugly grin. He couldn’t even wait. Instead of touching her first...He reached for the ropes, wanting to untie them.
BANG!
A gunshot suddenly echoed through the room. Everyone froze. The man’s body shook violently. He slowly looked down.
Blood spread across his chest. His eyes widened before he collapsed heavily onto the floor.
The remaining two men screamed and quickly stepped backward. Susan’s phone slipped from her hand.
Everyone turned toward the entrance. Standing there calmly was a handsome man dressed in an elegant white suit.
A smoking gun rested loosely in his hand. His cold eyes swept across the room.
The two men immediately recognized him."O-Oliver..." Their faces turned white with fear.
Susan slowly turned toward Miranda in disbelief. "W-What did you do?"
Miranda looked at Oliver before smiling softly. "Right on time."
Then she looked back at Susan. "I will never betray my friend for love"
