Chapter 63: Loyalty test
Alan’s phone beeped. She laughed and let her go. "I’m glad it’s you. I will get back to you later," she winked at her and ran off while checking her phone.
Abigail looked at her in confusion. "What’s with her?"
.....
Selena watched Alan getting along with Abigail from afar and clenched her fists. Why was she always getting in her way?
"That bitch..." she sneered and angrily took a wine from a waiter and sip from it " She’s so annoying"
"I’m sure we both hated the same people, Miss Selena," Susan smiled as she approached her.
Selena looked at her from up to down and raised a brow. "So what?"
Susan flipped her hair. "I made my father invite all of them. I agree your taste is too expensive and high but..."
"It made me stand out and better than you," Selena smirked and sipped her wine.
Susan rolled her eyes. "But we still both lose to a nobody like Abigail. What makes us different?" She chuckled. "At least if you put your pride aside and let’s work together to take her away..."
"I don’t need your help. It’s something I can handle," Selena snorted, prepared to go when Susan suddenly said, "I got one of her friends on my side?" She smiled knowingly.
Selena raised a brow. "What do you mean?"
Susan looked at a certain direction where Miranda was waiting patiently for Oliver to finish calling. "She’s into him. Using her selflessness to destroy her relationship with her friends isn’t bad," she chuckled. "It is her own fault for being stupid anyway."
Selena waited and Susan discussed how they can bring Abigail down with her, while Selena nodded in agreement.
.....
After calling, Oliver looked at Miranda with a frown. She smiled widely and raised a finger. "Can I see you for a second? I promise I won’t bother you anymore after this."
Oliver looked around and nodded. "I’m listening."
Miranda looked around and sighed. "Not here. I need to see you where nobody will hear us." Oliver frowned deeper.
Miranda smiled wider. "What? Don’t you trust me?"
Oliver laughed in disbelief. "Actually, you are free with me because you are my friend." Then he moved closer to her and Miranda unconsciously stepped back nervously. "You should be the one to be afraid of me..." he said.
Miranda still maintained her smile and nodded. "I knew you are a very interesting person, Oliver, but we need to be quick."
Oliver agreed and followed her. They reached in front of a room and he frowned. "What are we doing here..."
"Can you please trust me for once!" Miranda yelled and glared at him, then immediately, her smile returned. "Don’t worry, you will be fine." She grinned and entered the room, pulling Oliver with her and shutting the door.
Aarti came out from where she was hiding and smiled at the closed door, clapping happily. "Go girl! Enjoy your only chance and long night." Then she brought out her phone and called Susan. "The plan is going well." She chuckled " You are right...we can trust her and she has passed the test "
.....
Susan smirked at her phone and glanced at Selena, who looked stunned. She knew Oliver very well. He was not someone they all could mess with.
"I told you everything is under control," Susan smiled deeper. But deep down, she was still nervous. Oliver could turn the whole world upside down when he was pissed. But the case may be at least different if it was one of his friends. "Get the second plan done on that bitch."
"Noted, Boss."
.....
Abigail suddenly turned around the moment she saw Anna and her parents coming. She glanced at Madam Perry talking to a high-rank woman comfortably.
She almost forgot she brought her with her. How did she even blend so well with them? The funniest part was she was giggling with Mrs. Kim, Min-ho’s mother, as if they were long-lost best friends that saw each other every day.
It was okay to get along with Mrs. Lancaster because they adopted Oliver from her... but Mrs. Lane too? She was still thinking about that when a waitress suddenly lost balance and the drink poured on her dress.
She gasped and covered her mouth with fear. "I’m so sorry... Oh my gosh, the dress is very expensive," she started shedding tears.
Abigail was surprised at her dramatic attitude and nodded at her. "It’s okay."
"Oh, I knew a private restroom you can clean up. Please follow me," she smiled happily.
Abigail sighed helplessly and followed her anyway. After they reached the restrooms, she pointed at the last one. "People barely come here," she smiled.
Abigail smiled and entered the one the waitress pointed at. After she entered, the waitress quickly brought out her phone and left. She looked left and right. "Hello? Miss Aarti, she’s in. Where is the man?" Then she saw a bodyguard staggering. He had been drugged and was very hard. "Oh... he’s here." She quickly pointed at the last restroom and left.
The party continued with music, laughter, and conversations. Susan was happy with how everything was going. She had managed to get close to Archie’s parents and was already planning her next move.
Selena glanced at the smiling Susan and sighed, thinking about how to work with Susan without losing her pride.... But deep inside her, she don’t like Susan idea... she went too far by involving Oliver. Her father’s birthday had become more than just a celebration. It was a battlefield of power, love, jealousy, and hidden agendas.
She sighed and watched the guests laughed and talked, but behind the smiles were many complicated stories... that was how she was raised.
Henry was the only person In the world who cared for her, even after she did what may end people’s life by drugging Abigail... he only warned her and still gave her second chance.
But she couldn’t accept the fact that Abigail suddenly pooped out of nowhere just as she thought she would marry Henry after all the histories they had together.
