Chapter 57: He’s smiling?
The next day.
Somewhere in the country, someone knocked on the president’s office door.
He said, "Come in." The man walked in and sighed.
The president, who was standing in front of the window in a daze, asked, "What information do we have?"
Jeremiah told him it was still the same. "Henry didn’t do anything. Not even his father. And the election will come next week."
The president was nervous. "This may lead to two dangerous things. Either Henry leaves it for his father to handle, which is not good, or he is up to something, which is even worse. Nothing is good between the two options at all."
The president went back to his seat and sighed. He asked Jeremiah, "What will we do about it? All our investigations are meaningless."
Jeremiah nodded. "Not that we don’t know Henry, but he is good at disguising himself, which makes us more confused. We want to know his original face!"
"The Jones birthday is tomorrow, and he will surely come with his father. They are allies in business," Jeremiah added.
The president’s face lit up. "Yeah, let’s do that. We must find a way to expose his face."
Jeremiah froze and looked at him in disbelief. "You want to attack him while he didn’t do anything?"
The president blinked and realized it didn’t make sense. He may be the president of the country, but some people were like shadow rulers who had the power to do anything, even to the president. His number one person he was afraid of was Henry himself, then his father. The two of them were too powerful.
Henry’s situation was worse. He may appear calm and innocent, but he was not a good person at all. His deepest secret was the fact that he was in politics and would not let you know his next move.
Jeremiah warned him, "Don’t try to do anything stupid. Henry has the largest gangs, followed by Min-ho and these two work together for goodness sake!" He continued, "They just have to be active, that’s all."

Miranda looked at the interviewer in anger. The job he wants to offer won’t pay her enough. She left the company angrily and started walking along the roadside on her own. She did not want to be a burden to her friends.
Especially when others were finding solutions for Abigail. But she couldn’t even offer her anything or support her. The building she was living in was for Oliver. She wanted to be like them and work harder. She did not like the fact that they did everything for her and she couldn’t offer them anything.
She knew she had offended them and made huge mistakes by fighting with Abigail because of her own stupidity. Abigail had stopped calling her, which broke her more.
She intentionally did not want to be her acting president because she wanted people to see Abigail as the owner of the company. She did not like the fact that she couldn’t offer or find a solution when she was in problem.
She was just afraid to open up to them. It affected her in her first friendship group. They mocked her and started avoiding her because she was a loser who did not even own a house.
This new group surprised her. It took her long to realise who Oliver and Madeline were. But still they did not use it on her. But for some reason, she always felt left out. It got worse the moment she discovered her feelings for Oliver.
He was too good-looking for her to handle. She even realised she was no match for him. Oliver needed a strong woman who was as powerful as Abigail or Madeline to boost his business. Not a lady like her who did not have any. And the man barely paid attention to women.
Because of him, the Lancaster family had become more popular, and many families wanted him to marry their daughter. The man was just too stubborn.
Seeing that there was nowhere to go, Miranda sat on a bus station seat and burst into tears. She had regretted everything and did not know where to start from.
She knew her life would be a mess the moment Madam Perry told her mother threw her at the roadside the day she gave birth to her. She was not even from a good background.
She was still crying when she suddenly felt sharp pain in her stomach.
Oh, she almost forgot she had a stomach problem that she neglected because of money. She felt guilty for asking her friends for money as an adult. She held her stomach in pain and tears. She did not know when she passed out with her hand dialing a number.

Miranda frowned the moment she heard machines beeping. Somehow she found out she was in the hospital and opened her eyes. She was surprised to see Abigail, Madeline, and... Oliver, who was busy on his phone....
Oliver?!!
he came???
Afraid, she quickly closed her eyes. She prayed they left. How was she supposed to face them all?
"Open your eyes. I know you are awake," Madeline snorted.
Miranda faced the other side in tears. She did not even know where to start.
Madeline moved closer to her and sighed. " What should we do with you, stupid girl"
Madeline took a deep breath and sat up. She looked up and smiled bitterly. " Thank you, I will make sure I pay you..."
" Shut up" Abigail rolled her eyes. " Did we ask you to payback?"
Madeline burst into laughter and looked at Miranda in disbelief while she kept her head down in embarrassment. " Seriously? you want to pay us back?" Then she nodded. " Oh, that’s why you want to apply for secretary in another company?"
Miranda was surprised, she looked up, this made Madeline laughed, shaking her head.
Miranda stole quick glance at Oliver who didn’t care about whatever happening and sighed. " I don’t want to be a burden to you guys. I want to make myself valuable to all of you" she sighed " Look at how y’all have been supporting eachother....I want to..." She paused the moment she saw Oliver’s dimples appearing.
He’s smiling???
