Chapter 358: Anger
The saleswoman was stunned! While over ten thousand was no small sum, her monthly salary as a luxury goods salesperson was definitely more than that! Zhao Dong's actions had thoroughly infuriated her.
"You dare to throw money at me? Security! Where's security!"
Hearing the saleswoman call for security, Wang Jing grew anxious. She knew Zhao Dong was capable, but she didn't want to cause him any trouble. She quickly grabbed his arm and urged, "Zhao Dong, let's go. I don't like the clothes here..."
"Heh, you don't like them? I think you just can't afford them!" the saleswoman sneered, her expression turning ugly.
Zhao Dong held Wang Jing's hand tightly, his gaze firm. "I told you, as long as I'm here, no one gets to bully you!"
Those simple words instantly warmed Wang Jing's heart. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she nodded emphatically.
"Hah, still playing the devoted couple?" the saleswoman said darkly. "Let's see how devoted you are when security gets here!"
"Security?" Zhao Dong scoffed. "I came here to buy things and you refused to serve me. You think security can just throw me out?"
"That's hilarious! Just look at the state you're in. Do you really think you're here to shop? Don't you have any self-awareness?" The saleswoman was relentlessly aggressive. "It's not that I look down on you, but in your condition, you can't even afford the cheapest bag in here. How embarrassing is that?"
"Is that so?" Zhao Dong pulled out a card and threw it in the saleswoman's face. "Then open your damn eyes and take a good look! See for yourself whether I have the money to buy your things!"
The card stung her face, and she was about to lash out in anger, but she instinctively glanced down. When she saw the black card on the floor, her mind reeled. As a luxury goods salesperson, she knew exactly what that card signified. The bank would never issue a card like this to anyone without a deposit of at least tens of millions.
Suddenly, the saleswoman panicked. She scrambled to pick up the black card and rushed to the counter, with the other salespeople hurrying after her.
At that moment, the security guards swarmed in. "Who's causing trouble?"
Just as the words were spoken, the faces of the salespeople at the counter turned deathly pale. A seemingly endless string of digits glowed in the center of the computer screen.
"Ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, millions, ten millions... one hundred million!"
Like a clap of thunder, the realization struck the saleswoman, and she collapsed into her chair in fright. Just then, the security guards started to move in on Zhao Dong.
Her legs turning to jelly, the saleswoman practically crawled to the doorway, shouting, "No, no, no! It's a misunderstanding! A complete misunderstanding! I'm the one who misunderstood our esteemed guest!"
The security captain yelled angrily, "Are you messing with us?"
"My fault, it's all my fault..." Tears welled up in the saleswoman's eyes as she staggered to her feet and handed the card back to Zhao Dong. "Esteemed guest, please calm your anger. I was blind to not recognize someone of your stature. I'm a complete idiot, please don't be angry..."
How could she, a mere saleswoman, possibly afford to offend someone with over a hundred million in their bank account? If Zhao Dong truly got angry, not even the highest power in heaven could save her today!
The security captain barked, "I'm talking to you! Are you screwing with me?"
"Screwing with you? My ass!" the saleswoman exploded, roaring at the security captain. "This gentleman has over a hundred million in his account! Do you think I'm playing games?"
Over a hundred million!?
Those words made the security captain's face drain of color. The crowd that had gathered to watch the spectacle stared with wide eyes. They had thought Zhao Dong was just some clown. Who could have possibly imagined he was a hidden tycoon?
The security captain panicked and quickly led his men away in a hasty retreat. The onlookers didn't dare to linger either, quickly dispersing.
Zhao Dong accepted the black card and glanced sideways at the saleswoman. "Don't let your narrow view limit your world."
With that, he took Wang Jing's hand, walked out of the shop, and entered the luxury boutique next door.
Seeing Zhao Dong enter, the saleswoman inside was overjoyed and eagerly hurried over to greet them.
"Sir, you have such wonderful taste! This lady is so beautiful, and your daughter is adorable. Your family is truly blessed!"
The saleswoman's honeyed words made Wang Jing beam with joy. The little girl danced with excitement, insisting that the saleswoman was right, which prompted another round of fawning from the other staff.
"Alright, that's enough flattery. Just help her pick out a few suitable outfits," Zhao Dong said, raising a hand to cut them off.
But how could the saleswoman let such an opportunity go?
"Oh, sir, you're too kind! This lady is so gorgeous, she's a walking mannequin. Absolutely any outfit would look stunning on her!"
"So, should we try another store?" Zhao Dong shot the saleswoman a look.
The woman immediately panicked. "No, no, no! Please, have a look at our new arrivals. They just came in yesterday."
Zhao Dong looked over and saw that the clothes she pointed out—a mix of T-shirts and dresses—were all youthful and stylish, perfect for Wang Jing's figure. But just as he was about to speak, Wang Jing glanced at a price tag and quickly stopped him.
"No, that won't do! Eight thousand for a T-shirt! That's outrageous! And that dress is thirty thousand? That's more than all of my clothes combined..." Wang Jing looked shocked and overwhelmed, pulling on Zhao Dong's arm to leave.
But Zhao Dong wasn't having it. He pulled her back and reached out to gently stroke her head. "Promise me you'll never sell yourself short, okay?"
The sudden gentleness left Wang Jing stunned. A moment later, tears of emotion welled up in her eyes. After so many years, she was finally experiencing what it felt like to be cherished, to have someone willing to spend money on her.
In that instant, she truly felt like a woman—a woman who deserved to be treasured.
"Try them on. Be good," Zhao Dong whispered.
Hearing his gentle voice again, Wang Jing lost all will to resist. She nodded, her face a picture of happiness, her eyes brimming with tears.
It had to be said that Wang Jing's looks and figure were exceptional. After she tried on a few outfits, both Zhao Dong and the little girl couldn't stop saying how beautiful she looked.
"Wrap them up! All of them!" Zhao Dong declared.
Wang Jing tried to object, but seeing the firm look in his eyes, she had no choice but to reluctantly comply.
As they left with bags large and small, the saleswomen behind them broke into a chorus of sighs.
"Wow... no wonder she could marry such a powerful, rich heir. It's not just that she's beautiful; her considerate nature is something we can't even compare to!"
"I know, right? The women we usually see come in here trying to bleed their men dry! But this lady actually tries to save him money at every turn. That must be true love!"
"Absolutely! Her expression wasn't fake at all. And she dresses so plainly. She probably has nice clothes but is too frugal to wear them."
Though they sighed with admiration, the saleswomen were ultimately thrilled. Zhao Dong had just spent over a hundred thousand, which meant a commission of at least thirty thousand for them—a very handsome sum indeed.
