Chapter 357: Looking Down on Others with Dog Eyes
"Dogs! They're like dead dogs!" the principal hastily interjected.
Zhao Dong shook his head, dissatisfied. "Don't you think they're more like whores and scum?"
"Yes, yes, yes! Exactly! You're absolutely right!" The principal's head bobbed like a chicken pecking at grain.
Zhao Dong's terrifying presence squashed any thought of resistance within him.
"You're a clever man, but your teachers don't seem to get it, do they?"
"No, no, no, I understand... I was wrong... It was my fault. I'm trash for looking down on people, I'm absolute trash..."
Teacher Zhang, who had been kicked away and had wet himself in fear, scrambled over, leaving a trail of urine. He repeatedly banged his head against the floor.
Seeing this, Zhao Dong took a deep breath, his gaze stabbing toward the surrounding teachers. "Let today be a lesson for all of you. Remember, never look down on people with your worthless eyes again. If there's a next time and I see it... you will all die!"
With that, Zhao Dong turned and walked away with Wang Jing and her daughter. As he reached the door, he suddenly stopped, turned back, and pointed at the female teacher on the ground.
"And what do you plan to do with this piece of trash?"
The principal immediately bowed and stood at attention. "Fire her! She will be fired immediately!"
"Heh. I hope you don't become the next her."
"I wouldn't dare, I absolutely wouldn't dare..."
The principal nearly wet himself with fear and only breathed a sigh of relief after the imposing figure of Zhao Dong was finally gone. Turning back to look at Teacher Zhang, a surge of rage erupted in his heart.
"You bastard! You almost got me killed!" he roared, kicking the man viciously.
Inside the room, the miserable beating continued.
Outside the school, Zhao Dong had already left with Wang Jing and Xiaoya.
"Uncle Zhao Dong, you're just like Superman! The way you took down those bad guys was so cool!"
"HIYAH! HAH!" Xiaoya cried, dancing excitedly and imitating Zhao Dong's fighting stance by swinging her little fists.
Wang Jing hugged Xiaoya tightly, her eyes, full of tender love, fixed on Zhao Dong.
Their previous encounters had shown her that the current Zhao Dong was no longer the same bullied fool from before. But she still couldn't believe it! To think his status was enough to make even Miss Su so wary!
"Zhao Dong..."
"Stop. No need for thanks, I'm sick of hearing it," Zhao Dong said, rubbing his ears and feigning annoyance.
"Right, right! Uncle Zhao Dong is a great man. He doesn't need a thank you for helping Mom, right!" Xiaoya exclaimed, bouncing with excitement.
"Of course!" Zhao Dong lowered his head and ruffled Xiaoya's hair.
"Carry me, Uncle!" Xiaoya cried, immediately throwing herself into Zhao Dong's arms.
Zhao Dong effortlessly lifted her, his eyes filled with doting affection. This little girl had perfectly inherited Wang Jing's best features and was bright and beautiful.
SMOOCH!
Taking advantage of his distraction, the little girl planted a kiss on Zhao Dong's cheek. Then, in a sweet, pleading voice, she asked, "Uncle Zhao Dong is so amazing... You'll always protect Mom, right?"
The little girl's words made both Zhao Dong and Wang Jing's hearts lurch, and they froze on the spot. A crimson blush instantly spread across Wang Jing's pretty face, and she fidgeted nervously with the hem of her clothes, too flustered to speak.
Zhao Dong's emotions were a tangled mess. Looking at the fragile Wang Jing before him and remembering the spirited young woman she used to be, an overwhelming urge to protect her surged through him.
But... what right do I have to make promises to Wang Jing?
After a moment of silence, Zhao Dong gently rubbed Xiaoya's head and said softly, "If your mom is willing, then of course Uncle will protect you both forever..."
"Yay! That's great! I knew you were the best, Uncle! I like you! Forever and ever!"
Seeing Xiaoya's excitement lifted both their spirits considerably.
"You've definitely missed class for today, so how about Uncle takes you and your mom shopping at the mall?"
"Okay!" Xiaoya agreed instantly.
Wang Jing, however, hurriedly shook her head. "No, no! I... I don't have any money..."
"Silly girl, when did I say you had to spend your money?" Zhao Dong said indulgently.
"What? That's even worse!" Wang Jing's head shook like a rattle drum. "You've already helped us so much. I can't spend your money, too..."
"Alright. Even if you don't want to spend my money, are you planning to walk around like that?" Zhao Dong asked, helplessly pointing at her T-shirt.
He was pointing at her faded, yellowed shirt, which had a large tear in it from the earlier scuffle. Although nothing was exposed, it was extremely embarrassing. Wang Jing's hands flew to cover it, but the rip was simply too big to hide.
"Alright, stop being so formal. If you keep acting like this, I'll think you're deliberately trying to distance yourself from me!" Zhao Dong pretended to be angry. "And if you distance yourself from me, I won't come to see you anymore."
"No, no, no, that's not what I mean! I'll go, okay? I'll go with you..."
Wang Jing knew exactly what his little tricks were. But at that moment, her heart felt incredibly sweet.
Ten minutes later, they took a taxi to the most upscale mall in the Provincial City. Staring at the massive building, Wang Jing trembled, her hands trying in vain to cover her torn clothes, her face a mask of humiliation. Xiaoya, in her youthful innocence, was simply thrilled at the sight of such a grand mall and danced with glee.
"Don't be afraid. I'm here," Zhao Dong comforted her softly, taking her hand.
Feeling his strong, reassuring grip, Wang Jing felt as if the world had paused. An indescribable sense of peace washed over her, filling her heart with happiness.
"Okay, I'm not afraid..." Wang Jing nodded firmly.
At that moment, she only had eyes for Zhao Dong.
The two of them entered the mall, and Zhao Dong led Wang Jing straight to the boutiques on the second floor. As they reached the entrance of one, a salesperson stepped forward to block their path.
"Stop right there!"
"What's the problem? You're open for business, but you won't let customers in?" Zhao Dong sneered at the salesperson.
With a haughty expression, she pointed at Wang Jing's tattered clothes and said, "This is a Louis Vuitton high-fashion boutique. You dare come in here dressed like that?"
As soon as she spoke, the other sales staff nearby burst into laughter.
"It really takes all sorts. It's one thing to go out shopping dressed like that, but to have the gall to come into a luxury store?"
"Look at the guy's clothes, they're nothing special. I bet he just wanted to give his woman a taste of the high life."
"Heh, it's true what they say: a man's greatest fear is choosing the wrong career, and a woman's is marrying the wrong man. She's not bad-looking; she probably could have married some rich heir. Instead, she ends up with this loser. I guess wearing rags is all she's good for!"
The staff's words made Wang Jing's face burn with shame. Filled with deep insecurity, she reflexively tried to hide her torn shirt.
But Zhao Dong grabbed her hand, stopping her. With his other hand, he pulled a thick wad of red banknotes from his pocket and threw it directly in the salesperson's face.
"Say that again!"
GASP!
Everyone sucked in a sharp breath. No one had expected him to actually hit someone with money.
They looked down and saw that while the pile of cash on the floor wasn't huge, it was still at least ten thousand.
