Chapter 206: The Gu Family Comes Looking
If the process was successful, the pills would take shape, signifying a true success. If it failed, the pills would not congeal and would simply be incinerated. This is the most crucial step; I can't afford a single mistake!
Zhao Dong took a deep breath, his concentration absolute as he silently controlled the intensity of the flames and Spiritual Energy.
Soon, his pupils contracted. Success!
One, two… The white pills in the cauldron slowly took shape as three pills gently began to coalesce.
The first one formed!
The second one formed!
Just as Zhao Dong's excitement was peaking, CRACK! The third Heavenly Yuan Pill shattered and was instantly incinerated.
Zhao Dong felt a pang of disappointment. A whole pill wasted.
If any other cultivator knew what he was thinking, they would probably go mad. After all, even for alchemists who had practiced for many years, the success rate for alchemy was only about one in four. Some couldn't produce a single pill even with several sets of ingredients, often failing three to five times for every successful refinement.
Yet Zhao Dong, on his very first attempt, had successfully created two pills from a single set of ingredients. This already marked him as a genius among geniuses, a miracle among miracles. Two successes out of a potential three gave him a success rate of nearly seventy percent, far surpassing most seasoned alchemists.
Looking at the two emerald-green pills, Zhao Dong carefully stored them away, his heart pounding with excitement.
He then immediately began refining the Blood Replenishing Pills and Life-Saving Pills. This time, the process was exceptionally smooth; every pill formed successfully.
If word of this got out, it would undoubtedly cause a massive sensation. Even a master alchemist with decades of experience wouldn't dare claim that an entire batch of pills could be refined successfully without fail. Yet Zhao Dong had done it.
After storing the pills, Zhao Dong wiped the sweat from his face. Though exhausted, he was buzzing with excitement.
The two Heavenly Yuan Pills couldn't be consumed all at once. Their ingestion had to be spaced out; otherwise, their medicinal effects wouldn't be fully absorbed. He had a gut feeling that a single one of these pills could bring about a massive improvement in his cultivation realm.
One of the Blood Replenishing Pills was for Xu Yafei. She had some health issues, and this pill could at least help alleviate her condition. The three Life-Saving Pills, on the other hand, could save an ordinary person from the brink of death.
After some thought, Zhao Dong decided to give one of the Life-Saving Pills to the Han Family, since they had provided the cauldron.
Soon, Zhao Dong stepped out of the storeroom to find Han Qingtian and Han Churan waiting outside. Seeing him emerge, smiles appeared on both their faces.
"Xiao Dong, how did it go?" Han Qingtian asked.
Han Churan pursed her lips, her expression full of concern. "Zhao Dong, you look pale. Did you overexert yourself?" Turning to her father, she added, "Dad, our family should still have some ginseng in storage. Let's give some to Zhao Dong to help him recover!"
"That's right!" Han Qingtian slapped his thigh and hurriedly sent someone to fetch the ginseng.
Zhao Dong gave Han Churan a grateful smile, then took out a purplish-red Life-Saving Pill. He handed it to Han Qingtian and said, "Elder Han, this is a Life-Saving Pill for the Han Family. It can save a life in a dire situation."
Shock filled the eyes of both Han Qingtian and Han Churan. They had initially thought Zhao Dong had failed. But… he actually succeeded?!
Han Qingtian's eyes burned with fervor as he carefully accepted the Life-Saving Pill, his voice hoarse with emotion. "Xiao Dong, on behalf of the entire Han Family, thank you! Thank you so much!"
Zhao Dong simply waved his hand, indicating it was nothing.
Back at the Han Family's villa, Zhao Dong sat down to rest. He felt much better after absorbing the medicinal power of a fifty-year-old ginseng from the Han Family's collection. Han Chuxue came downstairs, rolled her eyes at him, and left without a word. This once again left Zhao Dong shaking his head in resignation. After lingering a bit longer, he decided it was time to leave.
As he was about to depart, Han Churan looked at him, biting her lip. "Zhao Dong, give me your phone."
Zhao Dong was taken aback. "What for?"
"Don't ask so many questions," she said with a charming smile.
Scratching his head, Zhao Dong handed his phone over. She quickly typed in her number, made a call to her own phone, saved her contact information, and handed it back with a captivating smile.
"Call me when you're bored. I can keep you company."
With that, Han Churan turned and walked away, her alluring hips swaying as she went.
Zhao Dong smirked, glancing at Han Churan's stunning retreating figure. He smiled to himself and turned to leave.
Just as he left the Han Family's estate, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and was surprised to see it was Ji Xueyao.
He answered, "Hello, Xueyao, what's up?"
Ji Xueyao sounded anxious on the other end. "Zhao Dong! Do you remember the car we rear-ended on the overpass? It belonged to the Gu Family!"
Zhao Dong paused. "I remember. What about it?"
"The Gu Family found me and they're looking for you! They just contacted me and are insisting that you go to East Sea Hospital right away!"
He was stunned. "Go to East Sea Hospital?"
"Yes! It seems something has happened to Gu Moning. They're asking you to go immediately."
Zhao Dong frowned. "Why should I go just because they asked? We're complete strangers."
Ji Xueyao let out a wry laugh. "Zhao Dong, the Gu Family is one of the four great families. It would definitely be beneficial for you to get on their good side. My advice is that you should go. Trust me."
Zhao Dong rubbed his chin and gave a faint smile. "Alright, since you're the one asking, I'll go."
A faint blush colored Ji Xueyao's cheeks, and she felt a sweet warmth inside. "Okay!"
After hanging up, Zhao Dong headed for East Sea Hospital, arriving shortly after. Just then, his phone rang again.
An unknown number. It must be the Gu Family.
Zhao Dong narrowed his eyes and answered the call.
