Mo Fan at his best – Versatile Mage

Chapter 204: W rizzz

The remaining Scarlet Soaring Demons seemed to understand human fear for the first time. Their Commander had been the strongest existence on the island, the creature that was supposed to lead them in tearing apart these young Magicians. Yet it had been killed in two moves. The oppressive aura that had once belonged to the Scarlet Rending Demon was now completely replaced by Mo Fan’s blazing fire and restless lightning.

Mo Fan did not give them time to scatter. His eyes swept across the frozen battlefield, quickly locking onto the densest group of Scarlet Soaring Demons trying to break through the ice and flee into the sea.

“Trying to run?” Mo Fan sneered.

The flames around him suddenly rose higher. Little Flame Belle’s calamity fire responded to his will, pouring through his Star Cloud with terrifying obedience. Mo Fan raised his fist again, but unlike before, he did not use a full Meteorite Fist. Against these creatures, that would be a waste.

A compressed Fiery Fist exploded forward, not large, but violent beyond reason. The fire burst through the first Scarlet Soaring Demon, then spread into the second and third like a burning plague. Their scales cracked from the heat, and their bodies were thrown across the ice, leaving black scorch marks behind them.

Another group tried to attack from behind. Before they could get close, purple black lightning flashed under Mo Fan’s feet.

“Lightning Strike!”

A thick arc of lightning split outward. It did not simply hit one creature and disappear. The lightning leapt from body to body, chaining through the Scarlet Soaring Demons as if it had a mind of its own. Several monsters convulsed violently before collapsing onto the ice, smoke rising from their bodies.

The team watched in silence.

No one rushed to help him.

It was not because they were lazy. It was because there was nothing for them to do.

Mo Fan moved through the battlefield like a storm made of fire and lightning. His spells were not just powerful, they were efficient. He did not waste time showing off. He struck wherever the pressure was greatest, killed whatever posed the most danger, and instantly shifted to the next target before the others could even finish forming their Star Patterns.

Zhao Manyan swallowed. “This guy... he’s really treating them like spirit essence delivery.”

Nanyu glanced at him. “He is not fighting like a student anymore.”

Ai Jiangtu said nothing, but his expression had grown increasingly serious. He had seen many geniuses. He himself was one of them. But Mo Fan’s combat instinct was different. Ai Jiangtu relied on precision, timing, and control. Mo Fan relied on overwhelming force, but it was not crude. Every attack landed where it hurt most. Every movement placed him in the most useful position.

That was not recklessness.

That was battlefield sense sharpened through countless life and death fights.

Soon, the Scarlet Soaring Demons were completely routed. Some were burned into ash, some were pierced by lightning, and some were frozen in place by Mu Ningxue’s ice before Mo Fan shattered them with a casual punch. The frozen island, which had been chaotic moments ago, was now filled with corpses.

Mu Ningxue’s Ice Magic continued spreading across the ocean, making sure the demons could not escape into the water. Her long silver hair drifted slightly in the cold wind, and her pale face remained focused. However, even she had noticed the change in the battlefield.

The pressure was gone.

The Commander level creature was dead.

The remaining demons had collapsed.

And the person standing at the center of it all was Mo Fan.

Gong Yu stood near Mu Ningxue with an ugly expression. He had originally planned to use this battle to show his worth. He had been guarding Mu Ningxue, moving around her with impressive speed, cutting down the weaker demons that approached. In any other situation, his performance would have been impressive.

But now, no one was looking at him.

Everyone was looking at Mo Fan.

Mo Fan walked over slowly, flames fading from his body while faint threads of lightning still danced around his arms. The black marks left by battle did not make him look messy. Instead, they made him look even more dangerous. Behind him lay the corpse of the Scarlet Rending Demon, its chest caved in and its scales split apart.

“Xuexue, done yet?” Mo Fan asked casually.

Mu Ningxue opened her eyes. The cold energy around her slowly settled, and the final layer of ice spread across the surrounding seawater. With the ocean sealed, the Scarlet Soaring Demons had lost their biggest advantage.

She looked at Mo Fan, then at the distant corpse of the Commander level creature.

“You killed it?” she asked.

“Obviously,” Mo Fan said. “It was bothering everyone, so I handled it.”

The way he said it was so casual that Zhao Manyan almost wanted to curse. A Commander level creature was not a mosquito. It was the kind of monster that could force an entire team to cooperate carefully. Yet Mo Fan had spoken as if he had simply kicked aside a stone on the road.

Mu Ningxue’s gaze lingered on him for a moment. She had always known Mo Fan was strong. She had seen him take risks, win fights that should have been impossible, and survive situations that would have killed ordinary people. But this time was different.

He was not barely winning.

He was dominating.

Gong Yu clenched his fists and forced a smile. “It seems you were lucky. The creature had already been pressured by Ai Jiangtu’s Curse Magic and Nanyu’s defense. Otherwise, even you would not have killed it so easily.”

The air suddenly became quiet.

Zhao Manyan looked at Gong Yu as if he had lost his mind.

Nanyu frowned slightly.

Even Ai Jiangtu glanced at him.

Mo Fan slowly turned his head. “Lucky?”

Gong Yu felt his chest tighten under Mo Fan’s gaze, but he refused to back down in front of Mu Ningxue.

“Am I wrong?” Gong Yu said. “A Commander level creature is not something one person can just kill with ease. You only had the chance because everyone else restrained it first.”

Mo Fan smiled.

It was not a warm smile.

The lightning around his fingers suddenly flickered. The scorched body of the Scarlet Rending Demon behind him twitched once as the remaining lightning inside its corpse exploded outward. Several deep cracks spread across its thick carapace, and the corpse split open from the inside.

The sight made everyone’s scalp go numb.

Mo Fan had not just burned through its defenses. His lightning had still been destroying it internally even after it died.

“Do you want me to find another Commander level creature and kill it slower so you can understand?” Mo Fan asked.

Gong Yu’s face stiffened.

No one laughed.

Because they knew Mo Fan might actually do it.

Mu Ningxue stepped forward and said coldly, “Enough.”

Her voice was not loud, but Gong Yu immediately shut his mouth. Mo Fan also withdrew his lightning, though he still looked like he wanted to beat someone up.

Mu Ningxue looked at Mo Fan. Her expression remained calm, but her eyes were softer than usual. “You protected the team.”

Mo Fan immediately changed expressions. The terrifying pressure around him vanished as he grinned shamelessly. “Only the team?”

Mu Ningxue knew exactly what he meant. She turned her face slightly away. “Do not push your luck.”

Mo Fan walked closer. “I killed a Commander level creature, cleared the field, saved Nanyu, helped Ai Jiangtu, protected you from those ugly sea monkeys, and even kept Gong Yu from embarrassing himself too badly. I think I deserve some reward.”

Zhao Manyan’s eyes lit up. He quietly moved closer, as if afraid of missing a good show.

Nanyu folded her arms, pretending not to care, but her gaze clearly stayed on them.

Ai Jiangtu also watched silently. He wanted to see how Mu Ningxue would respond. In truth, even he felt Mo Fan’s contribution had completely changed the battle. Without Mo Fan, they would have needed a careful group strategy and possibly suffered injuries. With Mo Fan, the entire island had been swept clean in minutes.

Mu Ningxue stared at Mo Fan.

The cold wind blew between them. Her face was still as beautiful and distant as ice, but there was a faint helplessness in her eyes. Mo Fan was shameless, arrogant, and impossible to control. Yet when danger came, he was always the first to rush forward. He did not hesitate. He did not calculate whether it was worth it. He simply stood in front of the people he cared about and crushed whatever threatened them.

That was the part of him she could never truly reject.

Mu Ningxue stepped closer.

Mo Fan froze for once.

Before he could say another shameless line, Mu Ningxue leaned forward and lightly kissed him on the cheek.

It was quick.

Very quick.

But everyone saw it.

Zhao Manyan’s jaw dropped so hard it almost hit the ice.

Nanyu’s eyes widened.

Jiang Shaoxu, who had just arrived, immediately covered her mouth with both hands, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

Gong Yu looked as if he had been struck by lightning.

Mo Fan stood completely still. The man who had just killed a Commander level beast without blinking was now frozen like a statue.

Mu Ningxue stepped back, her face still calm, though the faint redness near her ears betrayed her. “That is your reward.”

Mo Fan touched his cheek slowly.

Then his grin became brighter than the flames he had used earlier.

“Xuexue,” he said seriously, “I suddenly feel like I can kill another Commander level creature.”

“Shut up,” Mu Ningxue said.

Zhao Manyan finally exploded. “Mo Fan, you beast! You actually got rewarded for showing off!”

Mo Fan turned around and laughed. “That is called strength. Learn from your vice captain.”

The words were arrogant, but this time, no one could refute them.

Vice captain.

Before today, some of them had thought the title was only because Mo Fan was strong, troublesome, and useful in a fight. But after seeing him kill the Scarlet Rending Demon so easily, the meaning of that title changed completely.

Ai Jiangtu looked at Mo Fan again.

He was still the captain of China’s National Team, but he now understood something clearly. If they were talking about command, discipline, and overall control, he could still lead the team. But if they were talking about pure destructive combat power, Mo Fan had already stepped into a different category.

A few levels above him.

Maybe even more.

Ai Jiangtu exhaled slowly. Instead of feeling humiliated, he felt a strange relief. The World College Tournament would not be easy. Every nation had monsters among their younger generation. If China had Mo Fan as its vice captain, then perhaps their team’s ceiling was much higher than anyone had imagined.

Mo Fan turned back toward the battlefield, his grin fading into a sharper expression.

“Alright, enough staring. Collect whatever is useful. Commander level materials, demon crystals, spirit remnants, all of it. We came here for training and resources, not sightseeing.”

Zhao Manyan rolled his eyes. “There it is. The real Mo Fan came back.”

Nanyu looked at the ruined battlefield and said, “He just got kissed by Mu Ningxue and his first thought is loot?”

Mo Fan immediately corrected her. “Second thought. The kiss is first.”

Mu Ningxue’s cold gaze swept over him.

Mo Fan coughed. “Resources are also important.”

The team finally began moving again, but the atmosphere had completely changed. Before, they had been tense and cautious, aware that the Scarlet Scale Demon Tribe was dangerous. Now, with the Commander dead and Mo Fan standing among them like a walking disaster, their fear had disappeared.

The Scarlet Scale Demon Tribe had not been defeated through teamwork alone.

It had been crushed because Mo Fan was here.

And from that moment on, every member of the National Team understood one thing.

Their vice captain was not just powerful.

He was terrifying.
