Mo Fan at his best – Versatile Mage

The whole place was covered in ice. Large snowflakes were drifting in the sky. The water between the islands was completely frozen over. The waves on the surface of the ocean had frozen in place, too. It simply looked as if time was frozen, but would resume in the next second.

A wild roar came from the direction of the nest. A scarlet gust of wind swept forward and shattered everything that was frozen into pieces!

Mo Fan glanced in the direction and frowned.

The aura of the Scarlet Soaring Demon was rather formidable. It was clearly not a mere Warrior level creature!

“There’s a Commander level creature here, it’s the Scarlet Rending Demon!” someone screamed from not far away.

The situation had escalated into a messy fight. Lots of Scarlet Soaring Demons were spotted on the island of ice. Nanyu was the one who discovered the Commander level creature, since she was the closest to the nest.

“Nanyu is in danger!” Zhao Manyan ran toward the scream.

Unfortunately, he had already used his magic boots. His running speed was too slow.

Mo Fan headed toward the scream, too. His speed was a lot quicker. He cast Fleeing Shadow a few times when no one was looking. It was more important to save the girl!

The scarlet gust of wind approached rapidly. Nanyu was being kept busy by three Scarlet Soaring Demons over four meters tall. When she saw the fierce gust of wind, she decisively summoned her Shield Equipment to protect her from the Scarlet Rending Demon’s attack!

Nanyu’s Shield of Lustrous Wood stood firmly in front of her, but the Scarlet Rending Demon rammed into the shield without hesitation.

The Shield of Lustrous Wood was instantly shattered into pieces. The collision knocked Nanyu flying.

Nanyu remained calm as she was knocked into the air, landing nimbly on the ice. Her semi long hair was a little disheveled.

There was a woosh of motion, and Nanyu saw a man appear beside her. It was Ai Jiangtu!

“Are you alright?” asked Ai Jiangtu.

“I’m fine, can you handle this creature?” asked Nanyu.

“I’ll try,” said Ai Jiangtu.

Nanyu did not push herself. She immediately backed off to the side. However, the Scarlet Soaring Demons had no intention of letting her go, and immediately surrounded her. There were around eight of them, each taller than four meters!

Luckily, Mo Fan came to the rescue in time. He demanded the attention of the creatures with his wild lightning and fierce flames. Each of his Spells was too deadly to ignore!

“Zhao Manyan, cast your defensive Spells on me!” Ai Jiangtu immediately called Zhao Manyan over when he arrived.

“Are you trying to take on the Scarlet Rending Demon?” Zhao Manyan was slightly hesitant. The Commander level creature would easily break his Intermediate Spells. The Shield of Lustrous Wood that Nanyu was using was considered powerful for Intermediate Magic Equipment, yet it was shattered into pieces by the Scarlet Rending Demon with a single attack!

Ai Jiangtu did not respond. He gathered his focus and used his mental energy to control the giant frozen boulder in front of him.

The boulder was lifted off the ground. The snow covering it fell off as it hovered above the ground.

As a silver glow burst out from Jiangtu’s pupils, the hovering boulder immediately flew at the Scarlet Rending Demon at incredible speed!

The Scarlet Rending Demon did not dodge. It cut with its sharp claws, and swiftly slashed the boulder into pieces!

The Scarlet Rending Demon dashed forward and leapt into the air. It extended its muscular limbs in the air before driving out its arms with great force, aiming its claws at Ai Jiangtu’s head!

Its speed was incredible. It simply turned into a scarlet blur which briefly appeared in the air before it immediately landed on the ground. Its terrifying claws produced a ten meter long afterglow that could rend everything they came into contact with.

Ai Jiangtu did not dodge preemptively. The moment the Scarlet Rending Demon landed on the ground, the space he was standing on became blurry. In the next second, he had vanished from the spot and relocated himself onto an ice boulder fifty meters away!

However, before Mo Fan and Zhao Manyan could recover from the astonishment after witnessing Ai Jiangtu’s Blink, the Scarlet Rending Demon turned into a scarlet gust of wind racing toward Ai Jiangtu’s location!

As expected of a Commander level creature, it was obvious that the creature could predict where Ai Jiangtu was moving to with his Blink. It never planned to land its previous attack, but immediately kicked the ground and chased after him!

It all took place too quickly. Even Zhao Manyan, who was supposed to cast defensive Spells on Ai Jiangtu, failed to react in time.

When the Scarlet Rending Demon eerily appeared behind Ai Jiangtu, it was too late to cast a defensive Spell.

“Crap!” cursed Zhao Manyan anxiously.

Ai Jiangtu’s eyes flickered coldly. He was just about to activate his Curse Magic when a black shadow flashed across the ice even faster than the Scarlet Rending Demon.

Mo Fan appeared between Ai Jiangtu and the Scarlet Rending Demon without warning.

He did not retreat. He did not summon his armor. He did not even look tense.

The Scarlet Rending Demon’s claws were already descending, carrying a scarlet gust of wind capable of tearing a Magician apart. Yet Mo Fan simply raised his head, his dark pupils reflecting the creature’s savage face.

“Little Flame Belle,” Mo Fan said calmly.

A blazing calamity fire surged out from his body in an instant. It wrapped around his arm like a dragon opening its jaws. The terrifying heat spread through the frozen island, causing the ice beneath Mo Fan’s feet to crack with sharp popping sounds.

“Meteorite Fist!”

“Nine Dragons!”

Mo Fan threw a punch.

Nine fiery dragons erupted violently, but this time they did not scatter. They compressed together in mid air, forming a single blazing beam of brown red calamity fire that slammed straight into the Scarlet Rending Demon’s chest.

The Scarlet Rending Demon did not even have time to scream.

Its thick scarlet scales, which had shrugged off Ai Jiangtu’s boulder with ease, shattered like brittle glass under Mo Fan’s fist. The Commander level creature was blasted backward, its body carving a burning trench through the ice. Before it could struggle back up, Mo Fan’s figure vanished again in a streak of shadow.

The next second, he appeared above it.

Lightning crackled around his other arm. A violent purple black glow gathered in his palm, carrying a destructive pressure that made even the surrounding Scarlet Soaring Demons freeze in fear.

Mo Fan did not waste a second.

“Lightning Strike!”

The lightning spear pierced down.

The Scarlet Rending Demon’s body stiffened. Its chest exploded from the inside as the lightning tore through its organs and spread through its limbs in countless destructive chains. The creature’s scarlet eyes widened in disbelief. Its last roar was cut short as its massive body collapsed onto the ice with a heavy boom.

The whole battlefield suddenly went quiet.

The Commander level Scarlet Rending Demon was dead.

Dead just like that.

Zhao Manyan’s mouth hung open. He had already known Mo Fan was abnormal, but this was too ridiculous. That was a Commander level creature, the same monster that had shattered Nanyu’s Shield Equipment in one hit and forced Ai Jiangtu to keep blinking away. Yet Mo Fan had stepped in, thrown one fist, followed with one lightning strike, and ended it before the rest of them could even react.

“Damn...” Zhao Manyan finally squeezed out. “Mo Fan, are you still human?”

Nanyu stared at the corpse lying in the burning trench. Her calm expression finally cracked. She had thought Mo Fan was reckless, arrogant, and shameless most of the time, but the strength he had just displayed was not something an ordinary member of the National Team should possess.

The others nearby were even more stunned.

“He killed it?”

“That was a Commander level creature!”

“Wasn’t Ai Jiangtu supposed to be the captain?”

“Mo Fan is only the vice captain, right? How is the vice captain this strong?”

Several members of the team looked at Mo Fan differently now. Before, they had treated him as a powerful but troublesome teammate, someone with terrifying Fire and Lightning Magic, but still within the limits of a young Magician. Now, that impression was completely shattered.

The Scarlet Rending Demon had proven its strength. Its speed, power, and control over the seawater were all at the level of a true Commander. Yet in front of Mo Fan, it had not even lasted a full exchange.

Ai Jiangtu stood on the ice boulder, his silver eyes slowly returning to normal. He looked at the dead Scarlet Rending Demon, then at Mo Fan, who was casually shaking the remaining lightning from his hand.

Ai Jiangtu did not speak for a while.

He was the captain of China’s National Team. His Space Element and Curse Element had always made him confident that he stood at the very top among the students of their generation. Even when facing a Commander level creature, he could hold his ground through Blink, mental strength, and careful timing.

But Mo Fan was different.

Mo Fan had not held his ground.

He had crushed it.

Ai Jiangtu’s gaze sharpened slightly. For the first time, he truly felt that Mo Fan was not merely a strong teammate or an unruly vice captain. In actual combat power, Mo Fan might already be several levels above him.

That thought was absurd, but the corpse in front of him made it impossible to deny.

Mo Fan glanced at the others and said casually, “What are you staring at? There are still small fries left.”

Only then did the team snap back to reality.

The Scarlet Soaring Demons, which had been fierce moments ago, were now trembling. Their Commander was dead, and the human who had killed it was already turning his eyes toward them.

Mo Fan grinned.

“Good. Saves me the trouble of chasing you all down.”
