Mo Fan at his best – Versatile Mage

Chapter 150: Time for the dark abyss

After clearing out those Commander-Level undead, Mo Fan did not slow down in the slightest. Instead, he stepped directly into the battlefield, joining the crusade against the Ghost Tyrant.

Even from a distance, he could see everything with sharp clarity.

Four Super Mages.

A single Lesser Monarch.

And yet… they were locked in a dead stalemate.

This was the true terror of the undead.

Unlike demon beasts, undead Monarchs possessed intelligence without fear. Pain meant nothing to them. Injury meant nothing. As long as their origin remained intact, they would continue fighting endlessly, like an unbreakable force of nature.

A demon beast Monarch would retreat once wounded.

An undead Monarch would fight until its very existence was erased.

That was the difference.

The sky and earth trembled as the four Super Mages unleashed devastating magic, each spell tearing through the battlefield with overwhelming force. Entire sections of land were reduced to ruin, yet the Ghost Tyrant continued to stand, its presence unwavering, its aura thick with death.

Mo Fan narrowed his eyes.

That battlefield… was not his.

It belonged to beings at the peak of power. Super Mages and Monarchs.

Even with his strength, forcing his way through would be meaningless.

So instead, he turned his attention to what stood in his path.

The undead.

To conserve magic energy, Mo Fan raised his hand and summoned his contracted beast.

A massive rift tore open.

The Snow Frost Star Wolf descended.

The moment it appeared, its icy pupils swept across the battlefield… and even it felt a faint, instinctive pressure.

Its master…

Really was walking the edge of destruction at all times.

But soon, that pressure turned into disdain.

As long as they weren’t Commander-Level undead, nothing here was worth its attention.

Its Emperor bloodline spread outward like an invisible tide.

The surrounding undead trembled.

Some even hesitated.

Others were instantly crushed.

“Bang! Bang!!”

“BOOM!!!”

The battlefield roared for nearly an hour before the tide finally shifted.

The Ghost Tyrant fell.

But victory came at a cost.

Several Super Mages were heavily injured. Among them, Lu Xu had even lost an arm, his aura significantly weakened.

Still… they had won.

A narrow, costly victory.

The forces began retreating toward the city.

And as Zhu Meng passed through the battlefield, his gaze suddenly landed on a familiar figure.

“Mo Fan?”

He froze slightly.

“What are you doing here, kid!?”

Mo Fan didn’t waste time.

“I’m heading to the Dark Abyss,” he said calmly. “Once the main force returns, retreat immediately to the inner city. The outer walls won’t hold. And tomorrow night… the Dark Abyss will shift to the North City Wall.”

Zhu Meng’s expression changed instantly.

Shock.

Confusion.

Disbelief.

“I don’t have time to explain,” Mo Fan added coldly. “Just tell Han Ji to remember what he promised me.”

Without another word, he moved forward.

The Snow Frost Star Wolf followed, its steps heavy, its presence oppressive.

Zhu Meng stood there, stunned.

The Dark Abyss…

Was that even a place a human could enter?

And what exactly… was Mo Fan relying on?

“ER AO——!!!”

“ER WU——!!!”

The ground suddenly ruptured.

Commander-Level undead burst forth one after another, their auras violent and chaotic.

Zhu Meng immediately snapped out of his thoughts.

Unlike lesser undead, these creatures still possessed powerful abilities that could threaten even from a distance.

He didn’t hesitate.

He retreated instantly.

But as he left…

Mo Fan’s words lingered in his mind.

A quiet unease began to settle over the Ancient Capital.

And at this moment he called upon Zhang Xiaohou

A gust of wind spiraled into existence beside him, carrying a dense, grounded aura. The earth beneath subtly shifted, stabilizing under that presence.

Zhang Xiaohou stepped out.

His gaze was sharp, instantly locking onto the battlefield ahead. No hesitation. No wasted movement.

“Fan-ge.”

Just one word.

But it carried absolute loyalty.

Mo Fan didn’t even turn his head.

“Stay close. We’re going into the Dark Abyss.”

Zhang Xiaohou’s pupils tightened slightly at the mention of it, but he didn’t question it.

Instead, wind began to gather around his body, while the earth beneath his feet hardened like a silent shield.

Steady.

Controlled.

Ready.

And without another word—

He moved alongside Mo Fan.

With the Snow Frost Star Wolf leading the way, the path forward became a slaughter.

Undead filled the land like a tide, but none could stop them.

They didn’t even slow him down.

Mo Fan advanced relentlessly, harvesting souls as he moved. Among them, he absorbed the remnant soul of the Ghost Tyrant.

It wasn’t complete.

But it was still a Monarch-level remnant.

More than enough.

Ahead, a sinister wind began to rise.

At first, it was subtle.

Then it sharpened.

Then it screamed.

The closer he got, the more violent it became, like countless ghostly claws tearing at the air itself. It felt as though his soul would be shredded apart if he let his guard down for even a moment.

The wind howled.

Ghosts cried.

Demons wailed.

They were close.

Very close.

Even the undead began to thin out.

Not because they had been killed…

But because even they feared this place.

The Snow Frost Star Wolf slowed.

For the first time, it showed clear discomfort.

The pull from ahead was unnatural.

Oppressive.

Even it… did not like it.

Mo Fan noticed immediately.

Without hesitation, he recalled it back into the summoning plane.

From here on…

This was his path alone.

He stepped forward on foot.

No undead blocked his way now.

Only silence.

And death.

The Little Loach Pendant began to glow faintly, forming a subtle protective layer around him.

Without it…

No amount of money in the world would convince him to take another step.

But Mo Fan didn’t hesitate.

His gaze was steady.

Ahead of him…

The Dark Abyss waited.

And this time—

He was walking straight into it.
