Mo Fan at his best – Versatile Mage

Chapter 149: Battles everywhere

"Do you know what you're saying? That's the Dark Abyss!!!"

The Demon Man seemed a little flustered, perhaps because Mo Fan appeared somewhat reckless.

The Dark Abyss!

That place was a human forbidden zone that even a Forbidden Curse Mage wouldn't dare to enter.

"Don't get agitated. Since I'm going, I naturally have my reasons. And I'll be fine. According to my investigation, after tonight, the Ancient Capital will face a great catastrophe!"

"I must go to the Dark Abyss."

"If we wait until the Ancient King awakens, then everything will be too late. Even the safety barrier won't be able to withstand it, because it was originally created by the Ancient King."

Mo Fan didn't say anything more, only leaving a phrase, "Go back," and "wait for my good news," before continuing to charge forward.

Here, there were almost no Servant-Level decaying corpses; most were War General Level.

Even Corpse Ministers and Bone Generals were rising from the ground.

They didn't know if they had awakened or had just advanced.

The Demon Man watched Mo Fan charging forward without stopping, cursed him as a "madman," and then returned to the Ancient Capital.

He found some of what Mo Fan had just said truly hard to digest. It was too damn bizarre!

The Light Element magic array had been activated, but the number of decaying corpses had barely decreased, and Corpse Generals, which were rare before, were constantly increasing!

In some more distant areas, amidst the dense undead army, several creatures the size of small mountains could be seen. Their roars could reach the city walls dozens of kilometers away, and each time they unleashed a demonic spell, it would cause the earth to shake and collapse!!!

However, if they had simply declined to take part in the war because of that, the walls behind them would have been run down ages ago, and the city turned into a feast for the undead!

As Mo Fan was thinking, the dark clouds in the distance suddenly emitted a golden light. Rays of golden light penetrating the presence of death descended upon the place, and the mood swiftly changed!

“How many Commander-level undead are there?” Mo Fan scanned the area. Every one thousand meters on the vast hate-filled land had at least one of the enormous undead commanders...

How many Advanced Magicians were there?

Mo Fan could see six or seven Advanced Magicians fighting against a magnificent Skeleton Official. Even from a great distance, he could feel the destructive auras that the Advanced Spells produced when landing on the enormous Skeleton Official, yet they could not inflict any damage to it. When the Skeleton Official roared and fired a rain of a thousand bone arrows, a blood mist burst out from the squad of Intermediate Magicians it targeted. It was impossible to tell how many Magicians had died from the attack...

“Not every Advanced Magician like you is capable of fighting alone. Besides, that enormous Bone Official is strong enough to be considered a Evolving Commander...” Yao Nan said in a deep voice, realizing why Mo Fan was astounded.

Mo Fan did not speak. In a war at this scale, every Magician was only playing a minor role. Even someone as strong as an Advanced Magician didn’t make any difference to the outcome of the battle.

In the following moment, Mo Fan saw a giant golden sword descending from the sky!

It was a sacred sword made of golden light. The sword was so huge that it felt like it could stand between Heaven and Earth. It was also the source of the golden rays from before...

With a hum that made the whole place quiver, the sacred sword that had descended from the sky fell to the ground perfectly straight, landing on that enormous Bone Official whose size was comparable to that of a small mountain.

The enormous Bone Official was nailed to the black land. Its sturdy bones began to shatter into pieces under the overwhelming presence of the sword of light.

The mountain of bones collapsed while the light sword stood firmly upright on the ground. The Bone Official that was initially deemed unbeatable instantly lost its life and turned into a pile of white bones!

Mo Fan witnessed the entire sequence. It took him a long time to calm down from the astonishment of witnessing the sword killing the creature with a single blow!

Mo Fan witnessed the entire sequence. It took him a long time to calm down from the astonishment of witnessing the sword killing the creature with a single blow!

“What...what kind of Magic is that?!” Mo Fan asked in shock.

Just a moment ago, Mo Fan thought Magicians were simply too tiny in a battle of this scale, as even Advanced Magicians were unable to make any difference to the situation. However, the sword that came out of nowhere immediately changed his thinking!

The enormous Bone Official was a Big Commander-level creature, one so strong that even six or seven Advanced Magicians were unable to inflict any damage to... yet it was killed instantly by a sacred sword falling from the sky. Words alone could not describe the shock Mo Fan was experiencing!

“Light Element Super Spell... Holy Essence: Demon Judgment Sword!” Yao Nan’s eyes flickered passionately.

A Super Spell, something that he had always wanted to achieve. However, the path of cultivation was a long journey. Even he did not have the confidence that he would achieve the Super Level before he died, and master the destructive power capable of bringing judgment down upon the demon beasts!

“Holy Essence: Demon Judgment Sword!” The astonishment in Mo Fan’s heart slowly dissipated, replaced with strong excitement soon or later I will use the demon judgment sword. Even at this moment after unlocking the light element he could not use it in the defenseive ways that someone like Zhao Manyan could. It was almost like this star nebula just didn't listen to Mo Fan.

This right here is what Magic should be, bringing the demons to justice with a single sword, showing no mercy whatsoever!

“Let’s go, Du Xiao is most likely going to massacre all the Commander-level creatures that are posing a threat to the army. Holy Essence is the strongest single-target Magic among the Super Spells. He’s the perfect one to kill the officials around the Phantom Tyrant Emperor. The end for the Phantom Tyrant Emperor will happen soon after the White Serene Ghost Officials and the White Serene Ghosts are wiped out.” Yao Nan headed for the walls, bringing Mo Fan together with him.

As they were getting further away from the battlefield, Mo Fan’s mind was still occupied with the scene of that enormous Skeleton Official being killed instantly by the sword!

Recalling when he was still at Tian Lan Magic High, many students were utterly disappointed when they Awakened the Light Element. If they saw what he just saw, they would never think that the Light Element was the worst Element...

“Yao Nan, the textbooks we studied mentioned that Super Level is the highest level possible. Are there more levels above the Super Level?” asked Mo Fan curiously.

“You’ve already stepped into the Advanced Level, yet you’re still asking about things so far ahead...”

“Can’t I ask?” Mo Fan did not let Yao Nan finish his sentence.

“There are. If you have the chance to visit the World Five Continents’ Magic Association, there’s a chance you might see a Magician above the Super Level. Their power is no longer described as Magic, but Forbidden Curse,” answered Yao Nan. He shook his head with a smile when he saw the passionate look on Mo Fan’s face and immediately switched the topic,

“It’s going to rain soon. It’s most likely the last rain for this season. When the snow comes, the undead will be frozen under the ground, providing the city with some relief.”

Meanwhile Zhang Xiaohou was in secluded mediation trying to break through and push his elements to the boundary of the Intermediate level.

It was quiet here. Too quiet.

The distant roars of undead, the tremors of battle, the flashes of magic in the sky all of it felt like it belonged to another world. But Zhang Xiaohou knew better.

That world… was coming closer.

He sat cross-legged, eyes closed, breathing steady. Within his spiritual world, two constellations rotated slowly.

Earth. Wind.

Both already formed. Both already strong. But not enough.

His brows tightened slightly as sweat began to form along his forehead.

“Not enough…”

The pressure inside his mind increased. The star systems trembled, resisting expansion. Each star pulsed violently, as if rejecting further control. Zhang Xiaohou clenched his fists.

“I have to break through…”

The memory surfaced without warning.

Mo Fan’s voice. Calm. Serious.

“I’ll need you.”

Just those words. Nothing more. But Zhang Xiaohou understood. He always did.

Brother Mo Fan never asked for help lightly. If he said it, then it meant it was something only he could do.

Zhang Xiaohou’s breathing grew heavier.

“I can’t hold him back…”

Inside his spiritual world—

The Wind constellation surged first. Currents formed, spiraling and accelerating, trying to break free from their limits. But something held it back. A wall. An invisible boundary.

Intermediate Level… Peak.

Zhang Xiaohou’s expression tightened.

“Then break it…”

The Earth element responded next. A heavy, stable force spread outward, reinforcing everything within his spiritual world. Unlike Wind, Earth was steady, unyielding, immovable. But even that stability had reached its limit.

The two elements pulsed together. Wind surged. Earth expanded. But neither could cross the threshold.

Zhang Xiaohou’s body trembled slightly.

“…still not enough…”

His mind began to blur. Fatigue set in.

Then—

Another memory surfaced.

Mo Fan standing in front of him, laughing, carefree, but always ahead. Always stronger. Always protecting.

Zhang Xiaohou’s fingers tightened.

“…Brother Fan…”

“I’ve always been the one following behind you…”

His voice was low, but steady.

“This time… I’ll stand beside you.”

The moment those words left his mouth—

Something changed.

The Wind element surged violently, no longer scattered, but focused and sharp. The Earth element grew heavier, more grounded, more absolute. The two forces aligned, not merging, but reinforcing one another.

The boundary shook. Cracks began to form.

Zhang Xiaohou’s aura rose suddenly.

“Break!!”

“BOOM—!!!”

A silent explosion rippled through his spiritual world. The constellations expanded, stars stabilizing at a higher intensity.

Peak Intermediate.

Zhang Xiaohou’s eyes snapped open. A faint current of wind circled him, while the ground beneath him felt heavier, more controlled.

He exhaled slowly.

“…almost there.”

Not Advanced yet, but close. Very close.

Zhang Xiaohou stood up. His expression was no longer hesitant, no longer uncertain. Only resolved.

“Brother Mo Fan… whatever that mission is… I won’t fail you.”
