"Together?" King Zaffuto asked softly. He had not been expecting to hear this from his son but now that he had, it was almost like a new birth of life and courage had been sent towards him.
His life was not as complicated as he had imagined and he was feeling it right that instant. Maybe it was the comfort that came with being the father of a son who was way much like him than he would ever be able to understand with ease.
"Yeah. Together. I may not have known Mama, but you did and you deserve to grieve her instead of worrying always," Tamiko said as he looked at his father, he wasn’t certain that this was the best of ideas.
Tamiko could already see the way that his father was contemplating changing his mind about all of this, but he needed his father to take the first step. He needed the king to embrace the hell that they both are so they could do this, together.
It was the only way out either way.
"Okay," King Zaffuto said, not wanting to argue with his son.
He was already spent from the shouting match earlier and he didn’t want a repeat of that. Frankly, that was his lowest moment as Tamiko’s father and he wished to apologize for it.
Perhaps that was meant to ease his conscience, but even he knew that there was only so much he could afford to give to his son like that. So, with one look at his dear son, King Zaffuto grabbed the handle of the white door, and turned it.
