Chapter 47: Husband Calls
Ye Yan had sustained an injury to the right side of her forehead—though the cut wasn’t very long, it was extremely deep.
The doctor first stopped the bleeding, then repeatedly checked to ensure the muscles and bones weren’t damaged, and whether stitches were needed.
Meng Tian had just paid for the CT scan and returned. She heard a phone ringing nonstop in her bag; it was Ye Yan’s bag, which she was temporarily carrying.
Calls were rare at such a late hour; worried it might be an emergency, she balanced various forms in one hand as she dug out the phone with the other.
The screen displayed two words: "Husband."
Not having time to be surprised, Meng Tian pressed accept.
"Hello, you’ve reached me," she said, her voice tinged with a slight tremor.
After a moment of silence, a man’s slightly hoarse voice came through, "Who are you, and where is Ye Yan?"
The voice close to her ear held an indescribable allure, its cool undertones drawing a sensuous picture, seducing one unknowingly.
Meng Tian took a nervous deep breath. Although she had long known of his existence, this was the first time she heard his voice on the phone. It came with an aura that seemed to tear through the very air as if he were there in person, imposing and overwhelming.
