"The vacation is over," Marcus said over the line. His voice was quiet. "Give me the updates."

Vance pulled up a file on his tablet. "Fred submitted a formal transfer request. He respects you, but he wants guaranteed minutes before the World Cup. He knows he will not start over Guimarães or Zakaria. I gave him a list of approved clubs. We are waiting for his choice."

Marcus listened to the speaker. "Acceptable. Keep the fee reasonable. Reward his professionalism. What else?"

"Marcus Rashford," Vance stated.

On the other end of the line, Marcus stopped typing. He leaned back in his chair.

"His brother leaked the contract negotiations to the Telegraph," Vance explained. "He weaponized the fanbase to apply pressure. We offered two hundred and twenty thousand base. He demands three hundred and fifty. He just recorded two goals and two assists for England. His camp wants a new meeting."

Marcus stared at the dark wall of his study.

"Sell him," Marcus said.

Vance sat in silence for a brief second. "He is an academy graduate. He scored fifteen goals for us last season."

"Sell him," Marcus repeated. His tone carried zero emotion. "If Dwaine Maynard had simply rejected the offer and asked for another meeting, we could have negotiated a middle ground. I value Rashford's transition speed. But leaking internal club business to the media is a terminal offense."

Vance listened.

"Think about the precedent," Marcus continued. "If we reward a leak with a higher wage, we validate the tactic. Every agent will use the press against us. If a player sits on the bench due to bad form next season, his agent will leak a story about squad unrest to force my hand. I will not tolerate a fractured dressing room. We nip this in the bud. He leaves."

"Understood," Vance said, noting the directive. "If we sell our primary left-wing rotation option, we need reinforcement."

"Michael Olise," Marcus said instantly. "Crystal Palace. Pay the release clause. He plays on the right wing. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will operate on the left wing. We also have Mason Greenwood returning to the squad. He can provide depth on the right wing. The system will adapt."

Vance nodded. "I will prepare the transfer directive for Rashford."

"Keep me updated," Marcus said, and ended the call. He returned to the documents on his screen.

At 2:00 PM London time, Manchester United published a single tweet. It contained a picture of a player holding the new yellow and green alternate shirt.

"We watched the matches," Vance confirmed.

"His market value is clear," Dwaine continued. "He drives shirt sales. He brings commercial viability. He proved his form on the pitch. We are willing to lower our demand slightly. We will accept three hundred and twenty thousand a week. Base wage."

Vance did not look at the papers. He looked directly at Dwaine.

"The offer of two hundred and twenty thousand remains the final offer," Vance said. "If you do not accept it today, you and your player can leave the club."

Dwaine blinked. His confidence fractured. "Are you serious?"

Solskjær leaned forward. He held up a hand. "Dwaine, let us pause for a moment. We want Marcus here. He is a Carrington boy. Let us find a compromise. Alexander, can we contact Marcus Vale? Can we ask the manager to review the terms?"

Vance turned his head toward Solskjær. "I already spoke with Vale."

Dwaine crossed his arms. "And what did the manager say?"

"His exact words," Vance stated flatly, "were that if you had simply returned to the table to renegotiate, he would have authorized a slight wage increase to find a middle ground. He values your brother's tactical profile."

"Then what is the problem?" Dwaine demanded.

"The Telegraph," Vance said. "The leak."

The room grew very still.

"Vale does not want your brother at this football club anymore," Vance explained. "He does not want a player who leaks internal negotiations to the press the moment he feels undervalued. He views it as a terminal threat to the dressing room stability."

Solskjær went completely quiet. He stared at the table. He remembered his final months as the manager under the Glazer ownership. The dressing room had leaked lineups. They had leaked tactical complaints. They had leaked training ground arguments. The leaks had destroyed his authority and cost him his job.

Solskjær did not say another word in defense of Rashford.

Dwaine stood up. His chair scraped against the floor. "You are bluffing. You will not sell the face of the academy over a newspaper article."

Solskjær let out a long sigh. He rubbed his face with his hands. He looked over at Vance.

"We could have negotiated that," Solskjær said quietly.

"We could have," Vance agreed. "But Vale wants zero leaks in the future. It is better to curb them while they are sprouting."

Solskjær shook his head. "Players these days. They only care about image. They only care about the money and the social media engagement."

"Too much money at a young age makes them feel invincible," Vance noted. "It looks great when everything is going right. But once the safety net is gone, that is when you see the cracks. You should be humble when you reach the top. You should respect the institution that looks after you."

"What was your first salary?" Vance asks.

"My first professional contract at Clausenengen," Solskjær said, a faint smile appearing on his face, "was worth about five hundred Norwegian kroner a month. That was roughly fifty pounds back then. I had to share a damp basement flat with three other reserve players. I spent my very first paycheck on a cheap, second-hand microwave and a heavy wool winter coat."

"And?" Vance asked.

"The microwave stopped heating after a week," Solskjær laughed. "And the coat shrunk to the size of a child's sweater during the first wash. I had to eat cold porridge and freeze for the first three months of the winter. But we did not complain. We just wanted to play."

Vance offered a rare, slight smile. "I understand that. My first job paid nine dollars an hour. I unloaded frozen cargo crates at a dock in Baltimore. Night shift. It was brutal physical work."

Solskjær let out a loud laugh. The tension in the room broke.

"We all learn our lessons," Solskjær smiled. He tapped the table. "Alright. Where do we stand on the outgoing transfer deals?"

Vance pulled up his master file. "Fred made his decision. He chose Galatasaray. We are finalizing the fee now. The deal will be complete in a few days."

Solskjær nodded. "Good move for him. He will play every week. And Anthony Martial?"

"Sevilla declined their buy option," Vance stated. "They were not impressed with his form or his work rate. However, we received formal offers from Newcastle United and Juventus. The bids sit in the twenty to twenty-five million pound bracket."

"Where does he want to go?"

"I left the decision with his agent," Vance explained. "He is currently discussing the projects with both clubs. Once he selects a destination, we will authorize the sale."

Solskjær nodded in approval. "And the incoming deals?"

Vance scrolled down his screen. "The Kim Min-jae deal is signed. Fenerbahce accepted the fee. Lois Openda is also signed from Vitesse. We will announce both players this evening."

"And the replacements?" Solskjær asked.

"Vale wants Michael Olise from Crystal Palace to replace Rashford," Vance said. "I will trigger the release clause tomorrow. The Benjamin Sesko deal is in the final negotiation phase. We will complete it in a few days. The Goncalo Inacio fee is agreed with Sporting CP. We are just pending player terms."

Solskjær nodded. The recruitment strategy was moving flawlessly. "Good work, Alexander. I will leave you to it."

Solskjær stood up and left the room. Vance turned his attention back to his monitor. He had a club to run.
