Strongest Family System

Chapter 239: The Hidden Inheritance Hall (Part 2)

Mary went next, placing her hand against the inheritance with the same careful stillness John had shown. Where John's session had refined an already advancing foundation, Mary revealed something more foundational — a clearer path toward stabilizing and strengthening her own manifested soul before she attempted to push toward the next level at all. She emerged from it with the quiet satisfaction of someone who finally understood the shape of the ground she was standing on.

Chris took his turn last. He was already at the top of Level 1, much closer to the boundary that separated him from Level 2 than Mary was. The inheritance provided him with a unique perspective on the true nature of that barrier.

He did not break through immediately. But he understood now, with unusual clarity, that adjusting his current method and taking time to rebuild a portion of his existing foundation would considerably increase his odds of crossing that threshold when he finally attempted it.

None of them had gained sudden strength. All three had gained something that would matter more in the long run — a clearer map of the road ahead, drawn by someone who had already walked it.

Once the sessions were finished, Robert laid out the conditions under which the hall would operate going forward.

Access would remain restricted. For now, only Soul Manifestation cultivators, or clan members specifically approved through careful consideration, would be permitted inside. As the clan produced more cultivators capable of reaching this level, access would expand accordingly, but not to everyone.

There were three things required that determined who would be allowed to enter this place. First, you had to show loyalty to the clan. Second, your contributions needed to be significant, as assessed by the existing systems. And lastly, your cultivation level had to match the inheritance you were aiming to study.

John agreed without hesitation. Chris understood immediately why the restrictions needed to be strict—if word ever reached outside ears that the Osborn Clan possessed a complete high-level cultivation inheritance, larger and more established powers would take a very different kind of interest in Magical City than they currently do. The hall's existence needed to remain entirely within the clan's own walls, unknown to anyone beyond its most trusted members.

Before they left, John glanced down the corridor toward the other sealed chambers, still empty.

"What are those for?"

Robert looked at them for a moment. "Alchemy. Formations. Weapon refining. Advanced cultivation paths we have not developed yet. Other things, eventually." He did not elaborate further on what exactly waited to be placed inside them or how many more inheritances he had already secured and simply had not introduced yet. Knowledge without the right person to carry it forward was worth nothing sitting in a sealed room. He intended to introduce each remaining inheritance only once he had identified clan members genuinely suited to receiving and developing it.

John did not press for more detail than that. He nodded, satisfied with what he understood, and the three of them made their way back out through the quiet corridor toward the compound beyond.

Once they had gone, the system activated quietly at the edge of Robert's awareness.

Clan Development Condition Completed.

First High-Level Inheritance Successfully Established.

Soul Manifestation Culture Foundation: Established.

Clan Development Rating Increased.

Inheritance Hall Status: Level 1.

Qualified High-Level Cultivators: 3.

Recommendation: Select Suitable Successors for Alchemy, Formation, and Weapon Refinement Inheritances.

Robert stood alone in the hall for a long moment after the notification faded, looking down the corridor at the remaining sealed chambers.

Five inheritances were purchased, and this was only the first one properly introduced. Three Soul Manifestation cultivators are currently qualified to benefit from it.

There came a day when he dreamed of dozens. Eventually, that number grew to hundreds. He envisioned a future where every new generation of Osborn disciples would step into this hall and discover a well-defined path laid out for them, instead of facing the same struggles that John and the older generation had endured. They had to navigate each step through years of personal trials, rather than benefiting from the wisdom passed down to them.

Clan Legacy Development: 4%

Next Objective: Establish Three Professional Inheritance Lineages.

Alchemy. Formation. Weapon refining.

Robert looked at the empty chambers a moment longer.

Purchasing the knowledge had been the easy part. Finding people within the clan capable of carrying that knowledge forward, developing it, and eventually teaching it to the generations that would come after them—that would take considerably longer and considerably more care than simply spending points he had already accumulated.

He turned toward the central inheritance chamber and studied the ancient inheritance resting within it.

For years, the Osborn Clan's greatest weakness had not been a lack of talented people. It had been a lack of accumulated knowledge. Every cultivator had been forced to discover their own path, repeating mistakes that previous generations had already made simply because no one had recorded enough knowledge to guide those who came after them.

That would change from this point forward.

Robert intended for every inheritance placed inside this hall to become more valuable with time, not less. Those who studied inside the inheritance would eventually leave behind their own experiences, discoveries, and corrections for the next generation. John could record what he learned while advancing through the Soul Manifestation level. Mary could document the methods that worked best for strengthening her manifested soul. Chris, when he eventually attempted his breakthrough to Level 2, could preserve both his successes and his failures.

The ancient inheritance would provide the foundation.

The Osborn Clan would build upon it.

Robert raised his hand and activated the restrictions surrounding the chamber before walking toward the exit. The heavy stone door closed behind him, and the formation lines across its surface slowly illuminated before fading from sight.

This hall would remain hidden for now.

There was no reason for ordinary disciples to know what rested behind these walls until they were ready to earn their place here.

As Robert stepped outside, the main clan compound stretched before him. Disciples crossed the training grounds, elders moved between buildings, and younger members continued their daily cultivation without knowing that something fundamental had changed only a short distance away.

The Osborn Clan had spent years chasing strength.

Now, for the first time, it had begun preserving it.

Robert looked toward the compound for another moment before walking toward the Clan Main Hall.
