Retired S-rank father becomes a teacher

Chapter 13. Beach fun.

Loud music filled the pool area and laughter echoed off the water. A DJ was blasting the latest pop hits and people were dancing in their bathing suits and drinking.

The four parents were relaxing and enjoying drinks, the twins had long gone into the pool to join their cousin in some water game. Naturally no boys approached them. Or even looked at them. For some reason the twins seemed blurry to the boys in the area. And everytime they tried to get a closer look, they’d have a sudden urge to change their mind and leave.

He chuckled. That earned him a glare from his mom. “What are you doing to those boys?” she crossed her arms.

Playing with his glass he took another sip of the sugary drink. Elizabeth and Lisa were watching his face.

Silas shrugged, “Nothing, I’m just making sure they don’t accidentally drown.”

A pinch on his leg made him yelp. Phantom pinches, his least favorite mom trick.

Anna hissed, “Don’t scare the boys away, the girls need to experience life and find some boyfriends.”

He rolled his eyes. As if. The twins would never have a boy.

Lisa spoke up, her voice more sober now after drinking some water. “I think it’s good he does that. There’s too many bad apples out there.”

She glanced at Anna, “Wouldn’t you agree?”

His mother sighed, shaking her head. “Lisa, not today please. I just want to enjoy our family time.”

Silas agreed. He didn’t want to have that conversation either.

“So mom, how’s business?” he asked, changing the subject.

Her eyes sparkled as she began to talk about her new hotel chain. She had always been an entrepreneur and a successful one at that before the world went to shit. Of course after the world stabilized she returned to the hotel business and made more money than she ever could before. Silas invested all the money he had made from being an S-rank hunter into her business and it paid off. Even if it didn’t he loved helping out his mom.

After a while, they all moved to the beach part of the resort. White sand between their toes and the ocean in front of them stretching as far as the horizon. Elizabeth and Lisa took out a frisbee and began playing catch while Anna laid down on a sunbed with her sunglasses on, sipping her cocktail.

He was sitting on a beach chair next to her. Seeing as she wasn’t using spatial magic to protect her skin from the sun, he did it for her. He casted a thin barrier over her body: her toes that were painted cherry, her fingers that were painted berry. Most importantly was her cleavage, where she had a small mole above her right curve.

Anna raised an eyebrow and looked at him through her glasses. “I want a tan, Silas."

He snorted. “I don’t want to see you with a tan,” he replied, leaning back on his chair.

She turned on her side to face him, propped up on her elbow with an amused look on her face. “What do you mean by that? Am I not allowed to look sexy anymore?”

A chuckle left him. “No. You look fine. But your skin would be ruined. The radiation from the sun is worse now, the ozone layer is never recovering. Mana pollution is worse than cow farts.”

Waving him off, she sat up and took out some sunscreen from her bag. “Here. You do the honors son, since you’re so concerned about your mother’s skin.”

She handed him a small white bottle that had a white creamy gel inside of it.

Taking the sunscreen, he shook it and squeezed some of it on his hand and then rubbed it on her back. Her blue one-piece allowed him to knead on her slim back. He traced her muscles, going down to her milky rump. He stopped short of her fabric and rubbed her waist, tracing her curve to make sure he didn't miss a spot.

The smell of coconut filled the air as he worked.

She let out a content hum. “Mmh that feels nice. You should open a massage parlor instead of teaching. You would make good money.”

Silas snorted, his hands still wrapped around her thighs all the way up to her fabric. “No thanks. Too much work.” He finished with her back and moved to sit beside her as she turned around.

As she turned, a part of her bathing suit got stuck on the chair, exposing a tender nubble on her boob. She didn't notice and gestured for him to continue.

He was staring at her rose colored areola for a bit before he shook his head and reached to her bathing suit, covering her nipple again.

"Mom don't you think a more modest bikini would be better?"

Anna smirked, "You won't be coercing me into wearing shorts and a t-shirt like you do to me grandchildren. I'm a grown woman."

Scratching his head, he glanced at his daughters. Shorts and a tanktop. Or he'd just use space magic and turn them into invisible girls.

Elizabeth came back and sat in the other sunbed next to Silas, a bit sweaty but smiling. She watched as he continued to put sunscreen on his mother before reaching for him herself.

“Do me next, honey,” she said, wiggling her toes in the sand.

Smirking, he squeezed some more sunscreen on his hand and applied it on his wife’s arms and legs, enjoying the way she shivered under his touch. It was time for her face. He took a big dollop and smeared it over her cheeks and nose, making her look like a clown.

She burst out laughing, grabbing a napkin and wiping it off. “Oh you jerk, that’s not how you put sunscreen on the face!”

Anna shook her head, smiling at her daughter-in-law’s antics. “You two never change. It’s like you’re still teenagers in love.”

Silas took off his shirt, revealing his toned torso. Elizabeth whistled as her eyes trailed over him appreciatively. “I do not miss the dad bod at all,” she said biting her lower lip.

He rolled his eyes and stood up, putting more sunscreen on his chest and abs. As he did so, he noticed a group of boys huddled together and watching the girls. The twins were playing volleyball with their cousin in the water.

That wouldn’t do. They were walking to the volleyball. No. No. That’s a no.

Anna saw his glare and pinched her temple.

“Son, behave.”

He clicked his tongue. But didn’t make another move. Yet. Just observing the situation with a tense jaw. His mom looked at her daughter-in-law and mouthed something to her that made Elizabeth laugh. Probably something about his overprotectiveness.

The boys got closer to the volleyball net. They asked if they could join and Hailey, his innocent and naive niece, said yes. Doesn’t she know how dangerous boys could be? And he swore he saw Victoria smirk.

The game started, the boys serving and hitting the ball with unnecessary force, trying to impress the girls. Silas’s blood boiled. He took a step forward. A hand on his arm stopped him.

“It’s just a game Silas, let them play,” Elizabeth squeezed his arm.

He huffed but stayed put. But then the ball came flying in Katherine’s direction and one of the boys went after it. Too close, too fast.

They were going to bump into each other. Silas vanished. Reappeared between them, blocking the boy from touching his daughter. He caught the ball effortlessly and glared at him.

The boy froze.

“Umm sorry mister...” he stammered.

Silas handed the ball to Katherine. She didn’t say a word, just looked at him with annoyance and then turned back to the game.

“I think you guys could use a referee, let me help out,” Silas said, smiling but the boy felt a chill go down his spine and backed away slowly.

“That’d be great Uncle Si,” Hailey shouted from the other side.

For the next hour, Silas played referee and made sure none of the boys got too close or too handsy with the girls. Naturally the girls won every round. It definitely wasn't rigged. The boys left sulking.

He made his way back to his seat, feeling satisfied. He took his shirt from the back of the chair and put it on. Then he leaned down to give Elizabeth a kiss on her lips.

“See? All good.” He said.

She rolled her eyes, “You cheated. You used spatial magic to divert the ball didn’t you?”

He grinned and took a sip of his drink. “Do you have proof? No? Then I didn’t cheat,” he replied, looking out at the sunset that was painting the sky orange and purple.

Anna shook her head and sighed. “You two are impossible.”

But he could see a small smile on her face as she said it.

The sun set and they went back inside the resort for dinner. The buffet was huge with every type of food one could imagine. The Vanes took their plates and filled them up with their favorite dishes, chatting as they ate together. The twins were less stiff and more relaxed now, joking around with Hailey. They were laughing and enjoying themselves.

It made his chest warm.

Lisa sat next to him as they ate some desert. She nudged his shoulder.

“Sorry about earlier Silas,” she said quietly.

He pulled her into a hug, patting her back. “You’re my family Lisa. You don’t have to apologize,” he whispered.

She hugged him tighter and pulled back, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye.

After that Lisa and Anna got into a heated argument about the best flavor of cake, Elizabeth was trying to calm them down. He leaned back in his chair, taking a bite out of his chocolate cheesecake. That was the best of course.

This was perfect.

A flash went off. Elizabeth took a picture of them all, capturing the moment forever.
