Chapter 166: The One Testicle Ninja!
The sword gleamed with cold light.
In another heartbeat, it seemed ready to separate Saitama's head from his shoulders.
But Saitama, with his back still turned, simply raised his right hand.
His fingers closed around the incoming sword.
Effortlessly.
Then he turned sideways and looked at the young man frozen in a slashing posture. After a brief glance, he seemed to realize something.
"Hey," Saitama said, "you've got the wrong guy."
As he spoke, his fingers tightened slightly.
The sword did not budge.
Saitama's dead fish eyes showed a rare trace of curiosity.
He had not used much strength, but this was still the first time he had seen a sword he could not crush.
It had to be expensive.
Thinking of that, he quickly let go.
Inside the sword, Asuramaru broke out in a cold sweat.
After confirming that nothing had happened to him, he finally breathed out in relief.
"Looks like your abilities are pretty reliable, System."
The system immediately replied.
[Ding! System products must be high quality. You may doubt my character, but you may not doubt my goods.]
Across from Saitama, Sonic swiftly retreated several steps.
He returned the sword to its scabbard, his expression turning grim.
"What do you mean, wrong guy?"
Saitama stood there calmly.
"I'm not part of the Paradisers. Look carefully. I'm just a hero for fun."
Sonic acted as if he had not heard the second half.
"I don't know you."
Saitama froze.
Sonic continued, his eyes narrowing.
"And that bald head of yours already explains everything."
The words struck Saitama like a heavy blow.
Before he could recover, Sonic's tone turned sharper.
"But that no longer matters. You saw through my movements twice in a row. My pride won't allow you to keep living in this world."
Saitama was still stuck on the phrase, I don't know you.
But Sonic had already moved.
His figure flashed and vanished into the woods.
In the next moment, he began circling Saitama at extreme speed. His body flickered between the trees from every direction, fast enough to leave afterimages in the air.
"My speed has already surpassed the speed of sound."
Sonic's voice came from all around.
"Can you still keep up with this?"
With a sharp burst of speed, he stepped on a tree trunk and launched himself forward.
Midair, his hand had already gripped the hilt of the sword on his back.
Everything was ready.
But at that exact moment, Saitama below turned his head with indescribable speed and looked at him with lifeless eyes.
"Hey... can I go home now?"
This time, Sonic's instincts, sharpened through countless brushes with death, screamed danger.
This guy!
There was no time to think.
Sonic twisted several times in midair. His foot carried a supersonic shockwave as it came crashing toward Saitama's head.
"Wind Edge Kick!"
Saitama sidestepped easily.
At the same time, he raised his right fist upward, almost like he was waiting for prey to fall into a trap.
"Checkmate."
The word fell.
Sonic, still in midair, had completely lost the ability to dodge.
His body dropped straight toward the fist below.
And his crotch happened to line up perfectly with the target.
The instant that fist connected, Asuramaru, inside the sword, sucked in a breath.
Through his perception of the Sword Master's body, his expression stiffened even more.
"Shattered... it actually shattered."
He fell silent for a moment.
"This time, he really became the One Testicle Ninja."
Outside, Saitama also hurriedly apologized with a somewhat awkward expression.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to. I was only trying to stop at the right moment. You know, just enough to look convincing..."
Across from him, Sonic flipped backward and immediately retreated to a safe distance.
He endured the excruciating pain between his legs and forced his voice to stay calm and cold.
"I am the strongest ninja, Speed o' Sound Sonic."
His face twitched despite his best efforts.
"However, I won't be accepting jobs for a while. Since I've found a worthy opponent like you, I'll keep training until we settle this."
Under the stabbing pain, Sonic could no longer maintain his composed expression.
His legs clamped tightly together.
His body trembled uncontrollably.
Cold sweat covered him from head to toe.
Even so, he still pointed at Saitama and demanded, "What is your name?"
Looking at Sonic's nearly distorted face, Saitama could only answer.
"Saitama."
After getting the name he wanted, Sonic continued pointing at him.
"Saitama. The next time we meet will be the day you die."
His voice shook slightly, though whether from pain or anger was hard to tell.
"I, Speed o' Sound Sonic, will definitely finish you off!"
Faced with such a heated declaration, Saitama gave a plain response.
"Then, good luck."
In Sonic's ears, those words sounded like a provocation.
But matters had already reached this point.
Having completely lost the ability to continue fighting, Sonic did not linger. At some point, several shuriken had appeared in his hand.
He threw them toward the ground in front of him.
A cloud of smoke exploded.
Sonic's figure vanished within it.
When the smoke cleared, Saitama stood alone in the woods and looked at the place where Sonic had disappeared.
He did not care much.
After a moment, he turned around and walked back the way he came.
"Maybe I should eat udon tonight."
Elsewhere, Sonic, who had escaped, tried to get as far away from that place as possible.
But the injury below made every step torture.
Inside the sword, Asuramaru watched this and knew it was time for him to act.
Pitch black threads immediately spread out.
They connected to Sonic's body and pulled him into the spiritual world.
It was another illusion.
But this time, Asuramaru did not force Sonic into a subconscious state.
To be honest, perhaps it was out of sympathy.
Or perhaps he simply did not want to waste too much time.
Inside the illusion, Sonic's vision shifted.
He found himself standing in the same forest he had just escaped from.
His body, however, was intact.
In front of him, Saitama also stood there with the same blank expression as before.
"What is this?"
Sonic frowned and immediately sensed that something was wrong.
His mind began analyzing the situation at high speed.
Was everything just now an illusion?
No.
That pain, that sense of reality, could not have been fake.
Then what was happening now?
He cautiously scanned the surroundings.
His hand was already resting on the sword at his back as his gaze returned to Saitama.
"Who exactly are you?"
Saitama, standing opposite him, answered expressionlessly.
"I'm Saitama. A hero for fun."
A nearly identical answer rang out again.
Sonic felt his body.
It was indeed intact.
This did not seem like an illusion either.
But how could he explain what had just happened?
Faced with this strange situation, Sonic quickly forced himself to calm down and search for clues.
Then his gaze shifted to one side.
There, a pile of headless corpses lay on the ground.
A flash of insight struck him.
He seemed to have realized the truth.
