I Became a Demon Sword and Traveled the Anime Worlds

Chapter 165: Could That Legend Actually Be True?

The moment Hammerhead gave the order, the Paradisers charged.

Clad in their new combat suits, they rushed toward Sonic with fierce momentum, each step crushing the ground beneath them. The black suits enhanced their already oversized bodies, making them look less like ordinary criminals and more like a pack of armored gorillas.

Sonic did not move.

He simply stood there, one corner of his mouth curling into a smirk.

Then his feet pushed lightly against the ground.

His figure vanished.

To the Paradisers, it looked less like movement and more like disappearance.

At the same time, Sonic's hand had already settled on the sword at his back.

The next instant, steel left its sheath.

A cold flash crossed the air.

The Paradiser at the very front had not even seen Sonic's face clearly before his head flew into the air.

The men behind him met the same fate.

They could not catch Sonic's figure.

All they saw were streaks of cold light cutting through the forest path, followed by the heads of their companions being severed one after another.

The ones at the back did not even understand what was happening before the same sharp gleam swept past them.

What is going on?

What just happened?

Even Hammerhead, the strongest among them, failed to capture the attacker's movements.

Cold sweat trickled down his forehead.

Only when the underling directly in front of him was beheaded did Hammerhead react on instinct. He raised both arms and clamped them around the sides of his head, protecting his neck from suffering the same fate.

This is bad.

This guy is terrifyingly strong!

But when fear reached its limit, it twisted into rage.

"You damn bastard!"

Hammerhead roared.

He lifted both arms high and smashed them down onto the ground.

The earth under his feet cracked apart, the impact spreading outward in a violent shockwave.

The force successfully pushed Sonic back.

"What are you doing?" Sonic's voice sounded from above. "Trying to scare me?"

Hammerhead looked up.

Sonic was hanging upside down from a branch at the side of the path, looking perfectly relaxed.

"You can't see me at all, can you?"

At this point, Sonic's attention was no longer on Hammerhead.

A weakling like this could be killed at any moment.

What truly puzzled him was his own body.

Why had he become slightly stronger just now?

Sonic glanced at the sword in his hand. Its body was now covered in fine cracks, like a shattered mirror held together by some unseen force.

Doubt filled his eyes.

What exactly was happening?

Hammerhead below had no intention of giving him time to think.

He turned, lifted a massive boulder, and hurled it toward Sonic's position.

Sensing the attack, Sonic leapt down from the tree and avoided the boulder with ease.

But the moment he landed, another huge rock came flying at him from the front.

Sonic's figure flickered through the narrow gaps, calmly weaving between the incoming boulders.

"He's not running away. He's attacking me instead?"

Soon, the thrown rocks landed on both sides of him, creating a narrow channel between them.

Sonic's mouth curved into a smile.

It was the grin of a hunter who had found amusing prey.

But he quickly covered it with his hand.

"No. Bad habit."

At the far end of the channel, Hammerhead shouted mockingly, "You're just Zeniru's hired dog! I'm fighting for a noble ideal!"

His voice grew louder.

"You think I'd lose to a mere dog?"

Sonic looked at the neatly arranged stones and silently mocked him.

Is this guy an idiot?

If he wanted to lure me in, couldn't he at least arrange the rocks more naturally?

Hammerhead sneered.

"There are plenty more rocks. If you don't stop me, I'll keep throwing them!"

Sonic, however, was still pondering another question.

He looked at the cracked sword in his hand.

I only felt that slight strengthening after I used this sword to kill someone.

Could it be because of this weapon?

But why did it never have this effect before?

Doubt still filled his mind.

Then his gaze shifted toward Hammerhead.

A grin spread across his face.

Isn't there a perfect test subject right here?

With that thought, Sonic slowly returned the sword to its scabbard on his back.

Then he smiled.

"You think that just because you know which direction I'll come from, you can deal with my speed?"

His eyes flashed with disdain.

"How pitiful."

He leaned forward.

"Fine. I'll play with you."

His feet pressed against the ground.

"Then I'll take you down head-on."

His body lowered like an arrow ready to be released.

"Straight ahead."

The words had barely fallen when Sonic shot forward.

Hammerhead was prepared.

He still could not see Sonic.

But that no longer mattered.

He dropped the huge boulder in his hands and grabbed the tree trunk he had prepared in advance with his other hand.

Then he swung it forward with all his strength.

The trunk swept across the entire gap he had created.

Hammerhead's face twisted with the joy of certain victory.

"You foolish bastard! Go to hell and regret ever touching me!"

The next moment, a sharp sword left its sheath.

Its edge aimed straight for Hammerhead's head.

A cold arc swept past.

Hammerhead's head flew into the air.

Only then did his pupils contract violently.

As his head soared upward, Sonic's figure finally appeared in his vision.

What happened?

Is that my body?

I've been... beheaded?

His thoughts ended there.

His consciousness sank completely into darkness.

Inside the sword, a system prompt rang in Asuramaru's mind.

[Ding! Intense negative emotions detected from B Class criminal Hammerhead before death. Gained 3,000 emotion points!]

[Gained 1,900 Demon Power. Return thirty percent to Sword Master Sonic?]

Hearing the system prompt, Asuramaru recalled what would happen next.

After a brief moment of thought, he made his decision.

"System, adjust Sonic's Demon Power feedback ratio to fifty percent."

[Ding! Demon Power feedback ratio adjusted to fifty percent.]

[Beginning Demon Power Feedback.]

As the system prompt faded, Sonic stood in the outside world and watched Hammerhead's head hit the ground.

Then he felt that power again.

It surged into his body, flowing through his limbs and bones, continuously strengthening him from within.

At that moment, Sonic remembered a legend he had once heard in the Ninja Village.

Gods truly existed in this world.

Among them was a god named Asuramaru, who entrusted his power to swords.

Those who earned his recognition could borrow divine power through the sword.

Could that legend actually be true?

Sonic looked down at the cracked sword in his hand.

For a moment, he was filled with doubt and surprise.

After all, this sword had been with him since his days in the Ninja Village.

No matter how much he did not want to believe it, the change in his body was real.

He had grown stronger.

Thinking of that possibility, Sonic's mouth unconsciously began to curl upward.

But at that moment, another figure appeared in the nearby woods.

A young bald man in a yellow jumpsuit and white cape.

The newcomer was none other than Saitama.

Sonic, still immersed in the excitement of his discovery, saw another bald figure appear and mistook him for another member of the Paradisers.

The smile on his face became impossible to suppress.

His figure flashed.

He vanished from where he stood.

At the same time, Saitama walked through the woods with his usual blank expression.

"Doesn't look like I'll find them."

He scratched his cheek.

"Might as well go back early and buy discounted groceries."

Just as he was about to turn and leave, a sword gleaming with cold light appeared behind him at some unknown time.

It slashed straight toward his neck.
