Modern Family: The Singer

[3rd POV]

"So, are you going to sit in on this, Kris? Or are you heading off to do something else?" Billie asked, noticing that Kris was still with them. The woman was about to say something, before Kylie cut in.

"She was just leaving!" Kylie said, as she turned and gave her mother a sharp look, a smile on her face. Billie inwardly raised an eyebrow at the two, watching their interaction with amusement in her eyes.

"Yep, she was just leaving" Kendall added, joining her little sister in giving their mother sharp looks and fake smiles.

Kris looked at the two, before sighing and raising her hands "Okay, okay, I can see when I am not needed. I'll be heading out to finish some other chores, call me when you're nearly finished for the day" Kris said, as Billie nodded.

Billie had her number, as well as Bruce's, and even Kim's. Something that Kris had given her beforehand just in case anything happened while doing their little teaching session.

"I'll make sure to give you that call around 10 minutes before" Billie replied, as the woman soon gave her two kids a hug goodbye, and left the building a few moments later. But not before giving her daughters a sharp look and whispered warnings.

'Probably telling them to not do anything stupid' Haley thought, glancing at her girlfriend who was looking equally as enthused as she is.

"Thank God she is finally gone" Kylie said after a few moments to confirm that her mother had left. Kendall had even stuck her head out of the doors and saw her mothers car drive off.

"I'm surprised she was willing to leave" Kendall added, as she let out a happy sigh. Before both of them blinked and turned to Billie who had a raised eyebrow.

"Let me guess, your mom is...protective and you think she would have ruined our lessons?" Billie asked, getting nods from the both of them.

"Oh absolutely. I love my mom, but she can be a major pain in the ass when she's in her "super protective mama bear" mode" Kendall said.

"Sounds like my mom" Haley chuckled, as she agreed inwardly that mothers could be...difficult when they were in that mode. And sometimes they "entered" that mode for no reason.

Like when taking their daughters to get taught by a world known musician that was beloved.

"Well I'm glad she's able to find something else to do then. Since I wouldn't want either of you to not enjoy this because she's causing...problems" Billie added, inwardly very happy that Kris was not here.

She was a major pain in the ass to deal with when she started to get involved in things. As she liked to put in her own two cents and cause some serious problems. Trying to undermine the person that was actively teaching her children.

Kylie and Kendall both knew their mother. And they both knew exactly what their mother would do had she stayed there with them.

She would have been a capital P pain in the ass. And she would have made the entire thing annoying to do. Which is the exact opposite of what the two of them had wanted. Hence why they did their best to get her to go away.

And thankfully she did.

"So, are you two ready to see where we'll be starting out?" Billie asked, as the two looked at each other before back at her, and rapidly nodded in excitement.

"Great. Follow me then" Billie said, as she motioned for them to follow behind her. Which they promptly did a moment later, walking behind her with Haley walking next to them.

"So, have you two ever done anything like this before?" Haley asked, curious to hear their response. She was hoping to hear a yes, as that would make things like ten times easier. But she had a feeling that it was not the case.

"Uh...not really? After our mom brought up the idea, we asked her to at least bring us to a vocal coach to find out if we had the potential in the first place. Since neither of us would want to waste your time" Kendall replied, which made Billie look back with genuine surprise on her face.

"You went to a vocal coach? That's smart of you. They're some of the best people you can go to in order to figure out how good your voice and vocals actually are" Billie said, inwardly pleased that they had done this. As this would make her life a lot easier. Since otherwise she would have to figure it out on her own.

"And what did they say?" Haley asked, noticing that they hadn't heard the appraisal of the vocal coach that they had gone to.

"She pretty much told us that we had a lot of potential, but we needed to learn how to use it, whatever that means. And she also told us of a few techniques to help regain our breath when singing" Kendall explained to the woman that would be teaching them.

She figured it would be best to tell her everything outright, as otherwise it could make things more complicated and annoying to deal with. Plus she figured that Billie would want to know where they stood beforehand.

"She also said that my voice is probably going to be able to hit higher notes easier than Kendall, while Kendall can do deeper notes easier? Whatever that means?" Kylie added, which Billie just hummed at.

She imagined that they got a professional vocal coach if they were being told this. Even if that professional would be like for an hour or so, it would still be enough to figure out this sort of thing.

"Is that a good thing?" Kendall asked, noticing that Billie had been going silent in thought once again. She had no idea what the difference between higher notes and lower notes besides the obvious ones of or just going with them.

"Oh absolutely. It means your range will be different from your sisters, and both sides are obviously useful. There isn't really a bad part about it or anything. " Billie muttered to herself, noting them glancing around in interest. They weren't going to find much.

"So, this is my recording room, the one that I personally use for all my songs, pretty cool right?" Billie asked as the two girls nodded rapidly and looked around the new room. It was spacious, had tons of unique paintings, and more.

With that, Billie slowly turned to the two teens and asked one very simple question".
