My Overpowered Demon System

Chapter 93: Prime Nexus Convergence

Azrael looked through the compound.

It was as silent as usual.

Not even a single person was outside.

But Azrael knew the reason now.

Most people in the estate were either in the knights camp in another area or cultivating in their respective seclusion spaces.

After a quick glance, he began walking towards the main castle.

’Once I am done with the Patriarch, I might check on those guys.’

The faces of the only people he could genuinely call friends surfaced in his mind at that thought.

"Master, I don’t like this place," Livia pouted from the top of Azrael’s head.

Azrael furrowed his brows.

"Oh, why?" He asked.

"There’s no changing fire and water," Livia said, still pouting, arms folded tightly over each other.

Azrael laughed at that.

It was only right that she saw the Chaos Realm’s shifting landscape as home.

She had been born there and this was the first time she had ever set foot outside it.

"Don’t worry, you will get used to this place soon," Azrael said, comforting her with a single finger pat on her entire body.

Clara watched both of them, a slight smile forming at their interaction.

The image of her own sprite surfaced in her mind.

’If only I had not gone the fusion route, Pixie would still be with me.’

Soon they were inside the long, seemingly endless hallway of the main castle.

Bows followed from left and right as Azrael walked through.

He waved back with an exasperated sigh. Telling them to stop bowing every time he passed had proven completely useless.

As Azrael walked past them, the maids who had spent their lives learning to remain stoic and calm could not help but shiver.

It was as if Azrael’s existence itself was pressing against them.

Soon he was in front of the Patriarch’s large crimson doors.

Clara stopped just beside the door, not advancing a single step further.

The doors swung open on their own and shut as Azrael walked in.

There were two people in the room.

Erebus, who stood behind Abaddon with a soft expression that made him look like a docile creature.

And Abaddon, who sat fully reclined in his chair, an air of nobility wrapping around him passively.

"Young Lord Azrael," Erebus said with a bow on seeing him.

Azrael nodded in response before turning toward Abaddon.

His eyes bore no expression even as he addressed Azrael.

He bowed, one hand placed on his chest.

Abaddon waved it off calmly.

"You wanted to know about the main event of the Nexus Convergence, the one that only takes place once every hundred years, correct?" Abaddon asked, his tone cold and distant.

Azrael nodded.

Abaddon had withheld this information before, asking Azrael to find out by himself. But Azrael had been too occupied and had forgotten about it entirely.

"You can take your seat," Abaddon said, gesturing to the chair in front of him.

"First, I should comment on your essence sprite," Abaddon said as Azrael sat.

Azrael furrowed his brows.

He already knew what Abaddon was going to say. Jasmine had tried to convince him of the same thing countless times.

"Why aren’t you going the fusion route?" Abaddon asked.

The so-called fusion route was a sub category of the Contract Domain type.

Instead of letting the sprite exist as a separate being, the demon absorbed it into their core.

This way, they became one with essence by themselves, and domain creation became instantaneous.

Not only that, their affinity for essence would also increase, allowing them to draw from the surrounding environment to power skills directly.

Its only drawback was the death of one’s sprite.

To prevent any attachment from forming between the person and their sprite, the fusion was typically done immediately after the sprite was created.

But Azrael had chosen otherwise.

"I don’t want to," Azrael replied with a firm voice.

The fusion route was not mandatory. It was only advisable for those who wanted to increase their base abilities.

Abaddon’s eyes rested on Azrael for what felt like an eternity.

Then he looked away.

"Do whatever you want."

Silence spread through the room after those words.

Then Abaddon spoke again.

"The Prime Nexus Convergence, as it is called," Abaddon said. "It is an event organized by the dragon race every hundred years."

He paused, then shook his head.

"No. It is merely overseen by them."

Although he had not said much, it was enough to spark confusion in Azrael’s mind.

But everything began to clear as Abaddon continued.

"In the centre of the universe, there is a single tower with a hundred floors. The tower opens its gates to participants from every corner of the universe once every hundred years."

Abaddon raised his hand slightly as he said those words.

"The only conditions are that participants must be younger than twenty years of age, and the total number must not exceed a certain threshold."

Azrael blinked.

Everything he had just heard made him frown.

But Abaddon disregarded his confusion entirely.

"By conquering each floor, participants gain rewards of different kinds."

He stopped.

"That is the basic outline. You will understand the rest yourself once you are inside."

Azrael blinked at the sudden conclusion.

The way Abaddon had wrapped it up felt too abrupt.

But he was not about to let Azrael overthink it.

"The reason I called you back is because you met the tier six requirement and will be joining the Prime Nexus Convergence. Rest well. One week is all the resting time you will have for a very long time."

The words carried warning, threat, and care all at once.

It took Azrael more than a moment to process everything.

"You can go now."

Azrael sighed internally.

He had never fully understood his father’s dual nature. Warm when Lilura was present, cold when she was not.

And most of all, his weird way of withholding information from people.

But he did not dwell on it.

"Thank you, sir," he said with a bow before stepping out.
