Chapter 43 – A Fashion Show For One
"So here we are!" Eira bowed with an exaggerated flourish and invited me into her dorm. I entered, mentally preparing myself for anything, my package under my arm.
I realized that during our dating, I had never been to her room, and she had never been to mine. We always met up in public places, and while we may have tried some smooching in little tucked-away corners every so often, we had never really ventured into each other's private hideaways.
Well, mine was less private than I would have liked, to be fair. Hard to find a romantic atmosphere in a room for four with limited space.
Eira's room was a larger one than mine, and I noticed a single bed inside. Perks of being a second-year? No, couldn't be. I wondered if she had some kind of secret second job, like many other students. I wanted to pry, but I knew I shouldn't.
"Roomy!" I said, internally face-palming at the obviousness of the statement. I was definitely not a romantic mastermind.
"Yeah, I did some odd jobs here and there, saved up enough to buy a bigger room for my second year. I'm hoping to scrape together enough to keep it for my third year." She said, sitting on the edge of the bed with a thump, accented by the light squeak of the bed springs. She patted the mattress next to her invitingly.
Taking the hint, I sat next to her. Was she always so warm? And smelled that good? I'm sure she did, but I was incredibly aware of it all of a sudden. I couldn't help but just stare at the floor.
"So...welcome to my room, I guess?" She stammered with surprising shyness. Was she also flustered? Great, here we were, two warriors acting like damsels at their first soiree. Without the benefit of those tiny cakes, they serve at those events. I loved those tiny cakes.
"It's really nice! Very big! And, and, and you have some cool stuff!" I pointed at some of the artwork hanging on the wall before realizing it was of barely clothed elves with the words Adventurer of the Month plastered in the corner.
"Oh, I uh well, hmmmm." That was all that would come out of my mouth.
"Yeahhh, sorry about that. I didn't really expect to have much in the way of company, ever." She laughed without humor. It was a nervous laugh.
"Don't worry, I get it! I totally get it!" I responded hurriedly, perhaps too much so.
We sat and stared at each other for a long moment before we broke out into laughter, the growing tension broken.
We both flopped onto the bed and looked into each other's eyes.
"Seriously, though, sorry about the state of the place. You're the first girl I've ever brought here. First, anyone I've ever brought here, if we're going to be honest." She smiled warmly at me.
"Really? I would've expected you to be a lot more, how to say, popular? I've seen how folks look at you in the training hall." I noted.
"Yeah, but I've never really wanted a relationship before." She said, turning her head to stare at the ceiling.
"Why did you start dating me anyway? From my perspective, we became friends, and then we just kept getting closer and closer fast after I got injured at the duel. I'm still astounding by the whole thing, really." I said, likewise turning to look at the ceiling. She had painted little stars up there. I wondered if they glowed at night. I had heard of such things but never tried it myself.
"I'll be honest, I don't know. I found you after seeing you peeking at me through the window, and decided to check you out on a whim. Then I was the one who pulled you out of the Corridor Dungeon, and one thing led to another, and here we are. I just like spending time with you, looking at you, thinking about you. Gods above and below, I must sound like such a dork!" She covered her face with her hands and groaned. A frankly adorable sound, I had to say.
"I feel the same way. I fell for you so fast, I honestly wondered if all those stories about Spellsongs bewitching me were true. And then I realized after a while that I really didn't care. I'm fine with being bewitched. I like spending time with you, talking about stuff, talking about songs and poems, and getting drunk, and all of that." I rolled over onto my side and rolled her over to face me.
I stared into her eyes for a long moment, and she stared into mine. I just wanted to be with her like this as long as possible. I could feel my body heat rising, and a blush spreading across my face to the tips of my ears. She was doing the same. Her soft pink blush framed by her raven hair looked so beautiful to me.
And her lips. Gods above and below, those lips. Red and soft, and I just wanted to
"You should probably try the dress on first, you know." She whispered huskily, her hand on my cheek.
"Right. The dress! The reason I came here!" I sat up suddenly, taking a deep, steadying breath, trying to shake off the influx of rising emotions. "It uh, got really warm in here, huh?"
She sat up next to me and gave me a peck on the cheek. "Yeah, the uh heating is still being weird."
I looked at the package I left on her table.
"So the dress, yeah. I should put that on. Do you have some place I could change?" I said, realizing there was nothing but the singular room we were in.
"Nope, sorry, gorgeous. C'mon, we've seen each other naked plenty of times." She reassured me.
"Yes, but that was the baths. Nudity in the baths is, well, it's different. It's different." I said, stammering.
"You said that twice. And don't worry. It's just the two of us. I won't do anything you don't want to, ok?" She took my hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
I nodded and got up and went to the table, and opened the package. Even the package was nice, wrapped in a waterproof fabric. The City Lord's tailors thought this through. I'd be able to keep it safe on the trek.
I undid the ribbon it was wrapped in, marveling at the quality of even that small feature. It was likely enchanted based on the shimmer as I ran my hands along it. I had heard of magical weaving and textiles, but rarely had a chance to look at them up close.
I opened the package and was somewhat taken aback by what I saw, but there was more there than just the dress.
"What's wrong? You stopped." Eira said, standing and joining me.
"Those." I pointed at the unexpected addition to the outfit.
"Oh. OH. OHHHH. Oh my. I mean, I guess it makes sense, but wow!" She said.
The offending articles were undergarments. Undergarments with more silk and lace than I had ever seen in a pair of undergarments. Even as a noble, I didn't have such fancy clothes covering my private parts. They were the same color as the dress, a deep forest green. I picked them up and held them up to the light. They shimmered and were smooth to the touch.
Frankly, they were lovely, but there wasn't very much fabric to speak of. The bands were barely more than strings, and I was certain that most of my rear end would be partially exposed. There were also sheer leggings to go with them, and a garter belt.
The undergarment top was strapless and made of the same material.
I was getting kind of excited to try it on.
"So, I'm going to try it all on. I'm sorry, Eira, but could you turn around? I'm feeling really shy right now." I said, my blush returning at the thought of her watching.
"You got it! Let me know when you're ready. You can use the mirror over there." She pointed it out to me before turning around and sitting cross-legged on the bed.
I quickly slipped out of my regular clothes, folding them up for later. I checked to make sure that Eira wasn't peeking before I stripped out of my undergarments.
I looked at myself in the mirror in them. A simple chest wrap and some very utilitarian panties were all I had worn that day. Good for working out in and fighting in. I realized I didn't really have anything particularly fancy or attractive. As much as I liked how toned my form had become, some part of my brain fought my vanity and had told me that anything nicer was a waste of money on a figure like this.
I shook the negative thoughts out of my head and stripped these last bits of cloth from my person. I had never been naked alone with a single person before. Stripping down in groups like was normal in the baths and the showers didn't bother me. It was when I was alone, especially with Eira I felt self-conscious. I didn't care if anyone looked at me before, so I wasn't sure why it bothered me now.
Was it because I wanted Eira to look at me a certain way, and I was afraid she wouldn't? I realized that I wanted Eira to see me that way. A feeling I had never felt about anyone before. I wanted her to love me, and I wanted lust to accompany that.
Well, that was a hell of a revelation, self. Keep it together.
"You doing good, Alta?" She said suddenly, which made me nearly jump out of my bare skin.
"Y-Yes! I'm good!" I said with a nervous squeak. Get it together, girl!
I quickly put on the undergarments, delighting at the feel of them. These really were luxurious and soft! The top even pushed up my chest, making me appear more buxom than I was. The stockings somehow made my legs more shapely than I thought possible. They were sheer, but slightly darker than my own skin tone.
I lifted the dress and got a good look at it. I didn't know much about tailoring and clothing, at least not as much as many women my age, but it was very well made. I slid it on and admired myself in the mirror.
It hugged my form in flattering ways, the trim looking like flowers, a subtle pattern representing the black flowers that grew in my homeland. I realized it was part of the Burgotovan royal coat of arms. With the green of the dress and the black, it was in the Marchesi house colors.
The dress was sleeveless, with a halter neck top that gave my arms plenty of freedom. The bottom of the dress reached just below my knees in the front, and to my ankles in the back. I swished back and forth in the mirror, marveling at the freedom of movement. Worst comes to worst, I could fight in this if necessary. Hopeful it wouldn't come to that, but I was more than willing, truth be told.
I was impressed that I was able to zip it up unassisted, something I was more than happy to chalk up to my flexibility.
I noticed a few accessories to go along with it. A fur stole and some heeled shoes. I put the shoes on and picked up the fur. It felt soft and warm. Very familiarly so. I sniffed it to verify my suspicions. Gryphon. The house Marchesi's totem animal.
I realized what the tailor had done. That sneaky genius Bastetian. Showing up in a flatteringly sexy dress, in house colors, with the house totem animal around my neck on top of that? This was a very elaborate middle finger targeted at my sister. I wanted to hug that beautiful tailor. The scandal this would cause would feed my little dramatic gremlin of a heart for an eternity. I loved it!
"Ok, you can look!" I said. As she turned to look, I gave a playful little twirl for her.
"Oh dear sweet gods above, below, and sideways, you are gorgeous!" She stood and approached me, her mouth open in surprise. "Can I touch it? Please?"
"Oh of course you can touch me. The dress. You can touch the dress hahaha!" I laughed with sudden embarrassment at the slip of the tongue.
She smirked and then ran her hands on the fabric slowly. First, just at the bottom of the skirt, and slowly ran her hand up my side. I couldn't help but close my eyes, and felt a soft hum leave my mouth.
I put my hands up to my mouth immediately. I had never made a sound like that before.
"I'm so sorry!" Eira said, pulling her hand back, and I reached out, grabbing her wrist. I felt an urge overtake me.
"You....you can do that some more if you want," I whispered, getting closer to her.
I looked up into her eyes, and I stood up on my tiptoes, feeling her hands on my waist pulling me close into a deep kiss. How long we held it, I had no idea. Time had ceased to have any meaning in her embrace, and our mouths locked together.
I felt her hands glide along the dress, running along my shoulders to my neck. In a deft movement, I felt the ribbon holding the halter loosen. Her other hand slid down my back, running a finger along a stretch of my exposed back, and I felt the zipper slide downward.
This was happening. Oh gods above, this was happening. There was part of my brain that was screaming at me for letting the beautiful new dress fall off me to crumble on the floor, but the rest of me didn't give half a damn in this moment.
"Green is a good color on you." She whispered in my ear. I felt her breath send shivers of delight through my body.
"Thank you. You know it's not fair that I'm the only one in my underwear." I reached my hands out to her, untucking her loose blouse from the trousers she was wearing. My hands snuck under and felt her muscles underneath, and I felt myself heating up. Looking at them was one thing, but touching them.
I felt my hands reaching past the waist of her trousers, acting on their own.
"You want to take this over to the bed?" She asked, looking me directly in my eyes.
"You have no idea how badly I want to do exactly that," I responded, before kissing her deeply. She suddenly broke the kiss and scooped me up. I felt just like all those princesses in those tawdry romance novels Smitty kept lending me. I had rolled my eyes at the sight before. But now? I got it now.
She laid me down gently and straddled me, her face flush, and her eyes twinkling as she looked down upon me.
"Are you sure you're ready, Alta? I want you to be absolutely ok with this." She said, her eyes locked on my mine, her breathing heavy with anticipation.
I nodded, unable to find the words. She reached out and stroked my cheek.
"Please, Alta, I want to hear you say it." She almost sounded like she was pleading.
"I'm ready. Gods above, I want this so bad!" I responded enthusiastically.
"That's all I wanted to hear!" She grinned and pulled her blouse over her head, revealing a distinct lack of underclothes.
I felt my face instantly flush, and I leaned up, pulling her down on top of me, and kissing her deeply.
And we spent the rest of that night, entwined in each other's arms, our love deepening with every moment.
