The Return Of the Invincible Heiress

Chapter 84

"Private restaurant?" The others were stunned. "That sounds good and stylish."

Arthur was the first to speak. His eyes were bright. "I went to a more upscale private restaurant once. It was very expensive, but the food was not as good as Mom’s. I think Mom can totally give it a try."

Maria said hesitantly, "I-I think Mom should go the high-end route too."

Wesley and Claire looked at each other. Their eyes were filled with temptation and hesitation. Claire looked at Avery and said, "Avery, I am opening the restaurant to earn money. Private restaurants have high requirements for culinary skills, right? Do you think I am good enough?"

Avery smiled and said, "The so-called private restaurants are simply selling homemade food. Since they are food made at home, the host decides everything, of course. That includes what to cook, how to cook, how many tables to cook for, and how many guests to receive in a day. I think this way of doing business is very much in line with Mom’s ideal."

Avery paused slightly and picked up the pear her family brought back from the country. "Besides, isn’t our oldest brother growing vegetables and raising chickens in the country? If you open a private restaurant, you can buy ingredients from him. Not only can you reduce the cost, but you can also ensure the freshness and deliciousness of the ingredients. Isn’t that killing two birds with one stone?"

These reasons moved Claire. She thought for a moment and said, "I mainly make home-cooked food. They are not rare or unique. If I don’t accept many customers, will I make a profit?"

"Mommy, vegetables grown in the wild are more expensive than meat these days," Avery smiled and said. "As long as you cook well and the ingredients are good, you can set a higher price. Rich people don’t care about this. Let’s take my favorite foie gras with gingerbread toast as an example. A good restaurant usually sells it for about ten dollars apiece. If you sell it for 30 dollars apiece, do you think you’ll make a profit? Can you earn back the cost of opening the restaurant?"

"30 dollars apiece?" Claire, Arthur, and Maria gasped slightly. "Isn’t that too expensive?" Claire pointed out, "Although the gingerbread toast is made by me and should be more expensive with the foie gras added, isn’t 30 dollars per serving too expensive when it’s just bread?"
