Idol Gunner [Yuri Villainess LitRPG]

Album 1, Track 36: Greed and Graft

She moved with the intent to kill. Sanada tried her best to hold the girl back, but was pushed back with a rough shove. Smacking the wall, the vocalist slipped and lost her balance before being able to make a difference. The screeching of the crowbar’s iron hook continued to progress against the floor.

The guards, under Tanaka and Sakai’s commands, did not move an inch. Yamazaki, unsure of what needed to be done, was the same. Taira stepped back in shock, as if she had nothing to do with any of this. The only one who stepped up to stop her was Jina. Standing in front of Kana, she put both of her arms up in an attempt to start a conversation.

“Kelsey, hey, stop. You don’t want to hurt someone.”

“I do, though.” She replied, stopping right beside Sakai, “Get out of the way, lackey. I don’t have time for you. Go cry in some corner while you wait for your next order from this asshole.”

“Yamazaki-san…” Sanada groaned in the back as she pulled herself up, “Call Yamada-san. Please.”

Kana gave him a slight nod, and he got right to it. Kelsey, somehow, caught that little interaction. Turning towards the manager, she got closer. Silently staring as he called the manager of Pink Beats, she started tapping the crowbar against the floor. The clangs vibrated across the apartment, sending ripples in the swimming pool.

“You need her permission to go to the bathroom, too? What are you, a six-year-old kid in kindergarten?”

“Jina, sit.” Kana whispered, putting a hand on her shoulder.

“What?”

“Just sit.”

The call connected, and Yamazaki cleared his throat. Without acknowledging the girl trying to intimidate him, he quietly explained the situation to the other manager, “Yamada-san, please come to Katsuhara immediately. We need you to take the girls back home.”

“Don’t tell me what to do, got it!?” Jina snapped, stepping back and reclaiming her place between the two of them, “I’ll do what I need to do, and when I need to do it. Fucking leave me alone for a second.”

Kelsey cracked a smile without changing her target. She was just trying to overwhelm Jina and Yamazaki, and one had already cracked. Kana trusted her manager more than the goth girl, so she was confident that that number would not go up anytime soon. She pushed past Jina to get closer to Kelsey.

Sakai’s eyes were shining. Paired with that, his inaction was as if he was proud of how Kelsey had responded to the situation. Favorite kid, much?

The call ended, and Yamazaki sighed. Before he could put it down, however, Kelsey raised her weapon and attacked. Kana froze in place, unprepared for the sudden violence. The crowbar flew up in the air and tore through the manager’s phone. The hook lodged itself into the back, but did not come out of the other side. Yamazaki let go of the phone, letting it hang in the air.

Everyone stopped breathing. Through the gap between Sakai and Taira, Kelsey flicked the crowbar. The phone slipped off the weapon and skidded across the floor before landing in the swimming pool.

Kana internally sighed. It would be a fucking pain to clean that tomorrow. Not to mention, she thought, one had to consider – what would Yamazaki’s wife think about that? The moment that thought came into her mind, she bit her tongue.

“Fuck you.” She looked at Jina.

“What? What did I do?”

Kana could answer that question in a lot of different ways. There were a hundred different things that she had done, which she could be cursed for. Corrupting Kana’s brain with such a stupid joke was probably the least intense of them all. Thankfully, she had better things to be dealing with right now.

“Behind you!”

A sharp, intense blow shook Kana’s head. From the right, before she could react to Jina’s warning, Kelsey bashed the back of the crowbar’s hook into her skull. Kana’s teeth clattered as she bit into her own mouth, and blood started to trickle down. A high-pitched ringing filled her ears; she tumbled a bit, but tried to regain her footing. Through a blurry vision, she looked at Tanaka, who hadn’t interfered either.

“Kana-chan!”

As the pattering of Jina’s feet got closer, Kana raised her hand to stop her. Kelsey was walking too, wasn’t she? If there were two sets of footsteps, it would get difficult to differentiate between them. It was hard enough already, with her lack of clear vision and senses right now.

A swoosh in the air behind her made Kana hop forward and grab the dining table for support. Her hand touched Tanaka’s sleeve for a second, and he immediately withdrew it. Turning, she prepared to get up and face the approaching Kelsey. Crowbar in the air, she was trying to go straight for the head this time.

“Sakai-san, I think we should discuss terms. The Coalition is, as I said, willing to lower the punishment on Sakai Entertainment if Kana Minami is removed with immediate effect. Are you ready to sign?

What. The. Fuck?

Kana snarled, wishing she could grab his face and smash it against the window. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time. She rolled away from the table, and the crowbar hit the wood. Stuck, Kelsey tried to dislodge it. In the meantime, Tanaka stood up and walked to Sakai. Taira watched like the mindless slave that she was.

The crowbar creaked against the table as she tried her best to rip through the splinters. Taking the chance. Kana screamed and rushed into the girl. Hands on her waist, she pressed her head against Kelsey’s chest, pushing her back. The table fell, and the crowbar slipped from her hands. The two of them hit the floor, and the blonde screamed. The snap of Kelsey’s ankle twisting echoed across the room. A split second later, the two of them hit the floor and slipped into the swimming pool.

Water enveloped her, plugging her ears and nose as Kelsey drifted out of her hands. Her clothes, heavy, tried to pull her down even further. Pushing her arms out, Kana closed her eyes and tried to pull herself up. The water rushed into her open mouth and started to fill it. Beyond her grasp, Kelsey was already at the top of the pool.

Finally reaching the edge of the steps, Kana grabbed onto them. Her head burst out first, and she took a long breath, coughing the water out. Yamazaki, who was kneeling against the pool, grabbed her hand and pulled her out. That snake, Aiko Taira, had done the same for Kelsey. Both of them, now dripping water all over the floor, collapsed to their knees.

“That’s why I said…I’ll need some changes. Come on, there’s something you can do, right? What about those secrets, huh?” Sakai raised his voice, “You think I’ve forgotten what Kana said just now? She knows something you lot have been doing without telling us, doesn’t she?”

“She’s desperate, Sakai. Look at her.” Tanaka groaned, “She’s lying, and she’ll keep lying to save herself. You don’t need to fall for such amateur tricks. You know you’ve used them before, too.”

“I’m sorry? Me?”

Kana screamed and ran forward, barely standing up again before she crashed into Kelsey. Both of them hit the floor once more, but she was on top this time. Curling her palm into a fist, she punched her in the face. Through the fat of her cheeks, until she could feel the girl’s flesh grinding against the teeth, she kept forcing her attack.

Her grief was understandable. Her anger was understandable. But if she was going to hit Kana with a crowbar like that, then she would face the consequences. Not to mention, every time Tanaka and Sakai’s voices reached her, her anger flared up even more.

“Girls, stop. Come on!” Taira shouted from a safe distance.

Kelsey kneed Kana in the lower back. Her body jolted to a halt, and Kana was punched in return this time. Thrown to the floor, she tried to get back up, but Kelsey crawled through the floor and slapped her without looking. The fingers landed in Kana’s eyes, and she cried, kicking the blonde in response.

“No, I think I believe her.” Sakai laughed, “How about that? You’ve got something to hide, so you’re trying to make me believe that she’s wrong. And she might be a handful, but she’s only a little girl. You think I’m gonna let you get away with whatever you want, huh?”

“You said it, not me. She’s just a little girl. What do you think she knows, anyway? She doesn’t have any proof. No matter what you think, she doesn’t.” Tanaka nervously refuted, “I mean, there’s nothing to have proof about, so of course she doesn’t. You either sign that contract right now, or the entire company faces the consequences.”

“The entire company, is it?”

Kana cried as a punch made its way to her ribcage. Her entire body convulsing, she groaned and tried to fight back. Jina watched from the sidelines, growing antsy by the second. Kana’s orders, however, were clearly still absolute. She was not going to interrupt a fight she had been asked not to.

Kelsey had only one opponent, and it was her. She needed to do something, and do it quickly. Kicking the already broken ankle, Kana broke free of the blonde’s grip and got on her feet. Heaving, barely able to stand up, she limped her way to the kitchen. Screaming in defiance, Kelsey also pushed herself up and started to hop on her single leg to get closer.

“The entire company, Sakai.” Tanaka gave an ultimatum, “It’s either the girl or your entire team. Decide what you want to do, and do it quick. The Coalition will want an answer immediately.”

Sakai laughed, grabbing Yamazaki and pulling him forward, “Do you see this man? If I asked him to, he could easily dig into whatever secrets you are hiding. As I said, she is more than a handful. But I trust what she says. She wouldn’t say something so stupid if she couldn’t back it up. Kana Minami does not work like that.”

Kana smirked, opening one of the cabinets at the top and pulling out a bottle of olive oil. She only remembered its location because she had seen Jina put it there one evening. Gripping the neck of the glass bottle, she turned and started to inch closer to Kelsey. With eyes on her new weapon, the blonde gulped and walked backwards.

“Don’t waste my time, Sakai. Sign the goddamn documents before one of those idiots gets killed.”

“I don’t think so.” Sakai shrugged, “She got me what I needed, so who cares. Here’s my deal to you, Tanaka. Either you give Sakai Entertainment extra shares in the Coalition, or I start spreading rumors that Lilac Shower is hiding some secrets. I’m sure I don’t need to explain what happens after that.”

“Oi, you fucking asshole. Get away. Put that bottle down!” Kelsey cried, grabbing Taira’s attention.

“Tanaka-san, please. She’s getting out of hand…” The woman complained to her boss.

“I thought it was judgment day. What happened?” Kana smiled, getting ever closer to the girl as she raised the bottle up.

“You can’t do anything to me.” Tanaka laughed, “Everyone knows we are trustworthy. Do you think it looks good if you take me here as a representative, and then start bringing up these…lies about me?”

Sakai shook his head. For just a second, as Kana turned to look at the men, she noticed Yamazaki waiting for her. She gave him another nod and set him free. For now, Sakai was back under control. His greed had won over his anger. As he was, he would let Kana get away with anything she wanted if it meant giving him an edge over Tanaka.

“Sakai-san, I do have some information for you.” Yamazaki finally spoke up, freeing himself from the president’s clutches and looking back.

“You do?”

“You do?” Tanaka repeated the words, though in a different tone.

Yamazaki looked at his phone, now sunken in the pool, “I did. It was in there. But it’s also back home, and…also in here.”

He pointed at his head, and Kana could swear she saw the president of Lilac Shower shudder just a little. But just as quickly as he did, he regained his composure and put on a smile.

The manager continued, “I don’t believe we told you the information, but it appears Lilac Shower is trying to rig the competition. By keeping both of their teams at the top, they want to monopolize the largest stages.”

“Ah…” Sakai smiled, giving him a pat on the back, “I knew you were up to something with that division in teams. This is it, I see. I guess it makes sense if I think about it. But then why would the Coalition allow something like that? Shouldn’t the Fair Play Committee have stopped you?”

Yamazaki sighed, “Of course they didn’t, Sakai-san. The Fair Play Committee is run by-”

“Alright, stop!” Tanaka snapped, and Kana stopped in her tracks as well, “Whatever. I don’t have time for your baseless slander. What do you want? I have other places to be.”

The smile on Sakai grew wickeder, and he chuckled, “As I said…more shares. I want to be one of the top three decision-making names. Do that, and…I guess we won’t spread any more baseless rumors.”

“Yeah, yeah. Shut up. I’ll send Taira with the particulars later. This is not over yet!”

With that, Tanaka looked at Kana with a sour face and purposefully brushed his shoulder against Yamazaki as he started to leave the apartment. Behind him, Aiko Taira and the guards followed.

The moment they left, Yamada appeared at the door, panting. Looking at the cowering Sanada, he picked her up and gave her some support.

“What happened, sir?” He looked at Sakai for answers.

“Alright, keep the bottle down, Minami.” Sakai groaned, “You’re a smart one, aren’t you? This better be true, or else I’m gonna get thrashed really bad by that bastard.”

“You think I lied?” She asked, throwing the bottle on the couch and walking past Kelsey as she sat down on the sofa. The wet squelching of her dress against the leather irritated her, but she really needed to sit right now.

Kelsey collapsed to the floor and pulled her knees up to her face. Resting her head on them, she started sobbing. As her sniffing and crying filled the room, Kana wondered what they were going to do now. Her face looked terrible, and so did Kelsey’s. Jina, still in shock at her lack of action, kept standing beside the couch.

“I guess not.” Sakai nodded, “But I’m the one who’s gonna have to fix this mess, so give me some time. And if you pull a stunt like that again, you best believe you’re not gonna be working with us anymore.”

“Unless I give you more dirt to use?” Kana smiled, crossing her legs as some blood started to trail down her lips.

The president gritted his teeth and looked at the managers, “Yamada, get Kelsey and Sanada out of here. Yamazaki…I’ll talk to you later. Tomorrow, I’ll tell you all what we’re doing next. Take some time off and think about what you’ve all done. We’re down a player on our side.”

As Sakai got out of the apartment, Kelsey was picked up by her manager. In that moment, Kana looked in her eyes and wasn’t sure if she could slot the emotion she saw. Anger, yes. But it didn’t seem as unrestrained as before. Was it still towards Kana? Or…maybe towards what Sakai had decided to end his little speech with?
