Idol Gunner [Yuri Villainess LitRPG]

Album 1, Track 30: Callouts and Consequences

The Fluorescent Angels were quick to leave. Their lack of interaction throughout the trip after the incident with the Big Demons had been enough of a prologue to that. The three clearly weren’t very pleased with how Kana had handled the situation, and were keen to cut ties. That was fine, though. They had played their part and ensured her safety. It was all she needed from them.

Once they were out, RiRi was the one to deal with. She was itching to meet Sanada and Kelsey again, and acted like a cat trying to get away from water. Kana didn’t have any reason to hold her back, but it would be a bit disastrous if she stepped away from here with any expectations. She needed to remember that Kana had no intentions of doing anything she promised, and that was yet to be confirmed.

“You do realize that you’re still done, right?” Kana asked as bluntly as possible, hoping that she didn’t dance around the point either.

“I know, I know. Just leave us alone from now on. We’re good as we are.”

“Ahh, well, Kana-chan forgot, but thank you, too!” Jina decided to join in with her usual perkiness, “For saving us from the monsters when we were escaping. We forgot to give you our thanks for that, didn’t we?!”

“Save it.” She scoffed, “As if you care about being thankful. If you want to pay it back so much, then do us all a favor and leave this industry. People like you two will only poison everything until it crumbles into something unrecognizable.”

Kana laughed, “Is that so?”

RiRi turned away and started walking, not interested in replying. That bugged Kana the wrong way. She had a whole reply primed to shoot, too. Considering that she wasn’t going to be able to get there naturally, though, she just said while she could.

“Some things just deserve to rot, RiRi. And not all poison is bad, you know? The one that comes out of your automatic pistol helped us out a lot with the points. So, you know, maybe we won’t be that damaging either.”

That made RiRi stop in her tracks. She tried to calm down and be the better person, but eventually decided to turn and rush back to the girls. Taking her automatic pistol out, she pushed it against Kana’s skull. Her mouth frothed at the edges, barely able to hold her emotions in.

“You want to check if this poison is that good?” She asked, “Let’s see if one in your skull is not that damaging either, why don’t we? Or, well, maybe it won’t actually do anything. Because your brain is rotten enough already, you fucking sl-”

“Now, now. That’s more than enough, RiRi-chan!” Jina raised her sword, brought it down, and stopped it a couple of inches away from the Pink Beats member.

She looked at Jina, and then back at Kana. Her eyes moist, RiRi pulled the gun back, and it disappeared into the system. Stepping back, she raised her hands and walked away.

“Just let us go. We don’t want anything to do with you.”

“Sanada.” Kana did not blink before shifting the topic, “We’re still taking Sanada, so we will be in touch. You’re the one who wanted that, right?”

RiRi stopped in her tracks once more and closed her eyes. Putting her hands back down, she sighed and nodded, “Please. I’m sorry about the outburst. I’ll do whatever you want. But please, let her sing like that. I’ve made her mediocre already, so at least let her try a bit harder. I’ll be grateful.”

“I see, I see.” Kana smiled, “Well then, do seventy-five sit-ups. Right now.”

“Eh?” RiRi tilted her head in confusion.

“Eh?” Jina joined in too, probably just as bewildered by the request as her.

Kana nodded and repeated her request. If RiRi wanted them to accept Sanada into Velvet Choker, she would need to do it. There was no particular reason or meaning to it. The act was just the funniest thing that popped into her mind to make her do. So, that was what she decided to go with. Seventy-five sit-ups did not seem that bad for a girl like her. RiRi was fit enough.

The Pink Beats member nervously laughed, “That’s a bit…random? Are you sure you don’t want something more damaging?”

Kana shook her head, “Nope. Nothing like that. I told you already. It’s not like I have a personal vendetta against you or your group. Pink Beats just happened to be in the way, and you were bad enough to be holding me back. So…you gotta go. Honestly, I didn’t really need you to offer doing whatever I want, but I won’t just reject the proposal, will I? Thus, seventy-five sit-ups!”

“I…haha.” RiRi still seemed to think this was a joke or some sort.

“Do it.”

The two words were commanding enough for her. Slightly uncomfortable at first, she got down on the ground and lay on her back. Raising her knees, she put her hands behind her head and took a long breath. Kana laughed and took her grenade launcher out. Shooting to take out a couple of monsters she spied in the distance, she kept the field clear for her to continue. The leader of Pink Beats pushed her back up. One sit-up!

Jina watched while wincing once in a while. She tried to come closer and ask Kana to stop, but then never did say anything. It almost disappointed Kana. At the very least, they could have had a fun exchange while RiRi continued. She was doing well and moving at an acceptable pace, but it was boring to see the same thing over and over. Ten sit-ups!

So, by the time she reached twenty, Kana shook her head and gave up on the idea. It had seemed funny at first, but now she just felt bad. This seemed like something Akiko Hara would do for fun. It didn’t fit her style at all. So, she crouched down to tell the girl to stop. But before she could do that, a bullet whizzed past her ear and hit the ground.

In the distance, Kelsey put her gun back. Sanada came running to the scene, immediately bending down to grab RiRi’s hand.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Kelsey asked.

“Ah, well, that works too, I guess.” Kana stood up and straightened her skirt before getting ready to get out of here. She didn’t have the patience or the wish to deal with these two right now. Before parting, though, she decided to leave RiRi with some positive words, “You were alright, Rie Rin. Just a bit too average to get anywhere. Maybe in the next life or something, right?”

“Don’t move, bitch.”

Just as quickly as she had put it away, Kelsey brought her sniper back out and aimed it at Kana’s head. In response, all the girl did was roll her eyes and turn away. Kelsey didn’t have the balls to actually shoot, so there was no point in getting angry at her. Instead, she needed to get her head back into calculating the possible reactions Sakai and the Coalition would have to this.

“Oi, I said, don’t move! Are you deaf?”

“Stop being a sore loser, Kelsey~!” Kana laughed, putting her tongue out as she gave her a quick look, “You all lost, so get over it and get out of the office already. I’ve discussed it all with Rin there, so you can talk to her about the rest. Alright? And Sanada? You can come with us if you want!”

“Huh?” The vocalist jumped at the mention of her name. Or maybe she jumped because Kana forgot to add her usual honorifics. She had just been so lost in the moment that it skipped her mind. Not that it mattered, of course. Sanada would have to wake up eventually, so this might as well be it. All they needed to do was nod, thank her, and move on.

“Sanada-san!” Jina kept her own act up, though, for some reason, “Please join us! It will be perfect. Your voice is amazing when you’re singing songs written by Kana-chan and me! Right, right?!”

“I…no. I mean…”

“That’s it, huh?” Kelsey chuckled, “You convince Sakai that we are not worth the trouble, and now you take all the masks off. I fucking knew this was your endgame. All of this was just to drive us apart.”

“Did you? Well, you did a horrible job at showing that, then. I didn’t drive you apart at all, in fact.” Kana turned fully, getting closer to Kelsey so that she could stare the blonde down, “I’d say you did that yourself, didn’t you, Kelsey-chan? I don’t remember doing or saying anything that bad. You, on the other hand? You were brutal last Friday!”

“You…”

Kelsey grabbed Kana by the collar, prompting Jina to take her sword out and step forward as protection. The Pink Beats member did not stop because of that, though. Clenching her hand into a fist, she brought it down on Kana’s cheek in the blink of an eye. As she slipped out of control and fell, Kelsey followed her and punched her in the face once more.

“You think you’re smart, huh? You destroy our lives, and you think you get to get away with it? You...graahhhhh!”

“I did, though.” Kana laughed, spitting some blood out on Kelsey’s clothes, “I did get away with it. Didn’t even have to do much in the end. You were a subpar, shakily put-together group either way. If I didn’t take you out, you were just going to cause Sakai’s company to go under. I can’t allow that…”

Kelsey laughed, punching her once more. The sound echoed through the area they were in. Thankfully, there were no other teams nearby to witness all of this. If they found out, they would be able to use this information to create plans against all of them. That would not be nice.

The blonde, however, couldn’t care less. All she did was continue preaching about right and wrong, “You think you decide that? You think you define who is worth keeping or not? Who are you, anyway? Who do you think you are? Do you know how much I fucking sacrificed to get where I am!?”

“Clearly not enough.”

Kana wasn’t sure why she was still letting the poor girl rage on, but there was something fun about it. Kelsey had never been a nice person, so it was only right for her to face some retribution, too. And none of it was wrong, so it was fine. It was just true that Kelsey hadn’t tried enough. Her own leader had said that already. Pink Beats as a whole was just painfully unneeded. Nobody would really miss them if they vanished. They weren’t adding anything to the industry.

The punches, however, were getting a bit annoying. They didn’t hurt much, but they made it difficult to talk. Once the next one came her way, she stopped it in its path, pushed it aside, and looked at Kelsey in the face.

“You know? I hate Ruby Passion with a passion. Like a lot. I despise that bitch Akiko Hara and those two lackeys who roam around with her. But honestly? They’re better than you guys. At least they do something. All you do is…nothing. You lot do nothing at all. Why do you even try?”

“Kelsey, stop.” RiRi put a hand on her shoulder, weakly smiling, “Please just stop.”

“Why?” The blonde looked back at her, “What do you mean? She…destroyed it all. She…”

Once she was distracted, Kana took the time to pull herself out of the lock and stand up. Kelsey angrily switched her attention once more and tried to land a punch on Kana. That hand, however, was stopped by RiRi. The leader pulled it back and helped Kelsey stand up before dragging her backward.

“We lost, Kelsey.” She whispered, “Just let it go. We’ll get by somehow. There’s no point in fighting against someone like her. She won’t understand. She’ll never understand.”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m grateful for that!” Kana shouted. These people were pissing her off by repeating that over and over again. As if all the anger from the Little Stick Demon hadn’t been bad enough already, “I wouldn’t want to understand people like you, either way. You suck, every single one of you! You sell yourselves to whatever the slimy bastards watching you dance want. You’ve got no sense of originality. I don’t understand that? Fucking perfect, then!”

“Shut up, shut up, shut up!” Kelsey screamed back, “I’ll fucking kill you. You know nothing about how much we did. You know nothing about what it takes to survive in this bloody place. You think you can make it by doing what you want? Good fucking luck, Minami! Because you’re gonna eat the dirt.”

“Kelsey, calm down. Just…calm down. Please.”

“Let go, Rin!” The moment she snapped away from the leader, RiRi was taken aback.

Sanada stepped forward too, pushing a hand out to help, but meekly withdrawing it the very next second, “It’s ok. Don’t fight!”

“You shut up, too, Rin!” Kelsey continued, “What do you mean by giving up? We didn’t lose, alright? You lost! I haven’t given up yet, so I haven’t lost yet, got it? All you ever do is cry, cry, and then cry more. You know you’re the culprit who got us here in the first place, so you’re just trying to crawl your way out of this!”

Jina finally used her sword, bringing it to Kelsey’s neck in a second, “Don’t disrespect her, Kelsey. Shut up, and maybe I’ll let you go as you are. Another word against RiRi-chan, and maybe we’ll report that a monster slashed your head off.”

The blonde laughed, “Oh, nice. Very nice. You’ve decided to take shelter under them, too, have you? That’s rich of you, isn’t it?”

“…ry-” RiRi mumbled, grabbing the hem of her skirt with both her hands, crumpling the fabric between her fingers.

Trembling and barely able to keep it together, she was clearly in a precarious position. Kelsey pushed her further, though. Stepping closer, she held the leader’s chin in her hand and pulled her hair up. RiRi’s face was covered in tears and snot. She sniffled, but Kelsey kept up her tough act. Roughly pulling her closer, she asked, “What did you say?”

“I’m…sorry…for everything.” RiRi barely got the words out before she choked on her own tears. Coughing, she looked down and started to cry.

“Too late, Rin!” Kelsey barked in her face, not letting her fall to her knees just yet. The leader kept crying, but all her group member did was hold her responsible for it all, “How dare you give up? You brought us here, so take us out. Do it! Do it right now! Stop saying tha-”

A sudden scream from Sanada stopped her in mid-sentence. Kana barely had time to react, too. She had been so invested in this little drama that she did not notice when it had gotten so close to them. She had let it gain so much distance that it was within striking distance.

“Kelsey!”

RiRi pushed the blonde away the moment the Lizard Demon jumped ahead from the small rock it was on. Kana grabbed Jina to fall out of the way, and the two barely got out of its attack. Kelsey tumbled to the ground in shock, bouncing back just like the other two. The only one remaining in its path, however, had spent most of her energy crying. The last bit of it, she had spent on pushing her friend aside.

In a split second, the demon slashed with its claws, tearing through RiRi’s stomach. Ripped purple fabric flew in the air along with a fountain of blood. The Lizard Demon came to a stop a few meters away, and the girl fell to the ground. Unmoving.
