Chapter 120: That’s enough of the sad talk. We’re here for a wedding!

"When did I begin working with him?" Andrew repeated, chewing on the words. "Uh, I don’t know if I should tell you that." He said slowly. He received several confused looks from the Becketts and he winced. Even Amir’s grandparents had a hard time with that response.

"Why? Is there a problem with how you two started getting to know each other?" Well, not in the grand scheme of things, but Andrew knew from Maxwell’s words, and their actions, that they were quite protective of Maxwell. If they found out that he had been having problems with a few alphas stalking him and staking out his house, they might lose their minds.

"Uh, well, I don’t think Maxwell would like it if I said it." Andrew knew it was a bit of a cop out, but what was he supposed to do? He didn’t have a problem with what he’d done, but Maxwell had told him more than once that he didn’t get along with his family. Even if all evidence pointed to the contrary.

They just...were very protective of him.

Mr. Beckett and Mrs. Beckett stared at Andrew intently. It felt as if they were trying to bore a hole through him. Andrew squirmed. He was stubborn. He could play this game, even if he felt awkward about it.

"Come on Andy. We won’t get upset Even if you made Maxwell the side omega." Ben called from his side of the room and Andrew frowned.

"I never would do something so horrendous to anyone, let alone Max. I’ve never intentionally led anyone on in my life." Andrew declared and Will chuckled.

"Well, at least you said intentionally." It was the first time he’d really spoken the whole time since Andrew had arrived. Andrew was actually surprised he’d spoken at all. He’d had such a sour look on his face the whole time. Andrew, not one to take something like this lying down, blinked.

"Do you mean that, or are you upset because your fiancé didn’t want to hang out with you?" Silence filled the room. Everyone seemed shocked by Andrew’s words, but Andrew watched as Will turned several colours before he roughly got to his feet and with a huff, left the room. Andrew only regretted once he’d left. He was hoping that the man was going to throw a few word jabs at him, but instead, he didn’t.

That probably meant that Andrew had hit the nail on the head. Oops. He’d only meant to bother him, not actually hurt him.

"I...shouldn’t have said that." Andrew muttered, and Ben’s laughter filled the air.
