Chapter 53: An honest and pure love
Andrew shifted nervously as Maxwell adjusted his tie for the 14th time.
"Maxwell, Angel, I’m fine. It’s fine." Maxwell was pouting, and Andrew was trying his best not to smile. It would only upset him more.
Like Andrew had hoped, Michael had been game to help Andrew out. In fact, the company that Maxwell ran, and that he wanted Andrew to move into to work in, had several varieties of scent blockers on the market. They hadn’t been tested on true alphas, so this was the perfect time to test. Especially since Andrew was so new, and therefore hadn’t built up a resistance to anything yet.
Maxwell had insisted on coming with them to the flower shop, but Andrew drew the line of him actually coming into the store. Maxwell had pouted, and tried to throw a fit, but after a few whispered promises on Andrew’s part, and several men not paying attention to the couple, Maxwell relented. It was just Michael and Andrew who went into the flower shop.
At first, Andrew was overwhelmed, and when someone came over to ask if they needed any help, Andrew froze up. Michael was the one who smiled and waved them away, telling them that Andrew was just nervous. It worked, and it also gave time for Andrew to process all the smells he was encountering.
The flowers alone were overwhelming, like Maxwell had suggested, but at the same time, they were scents that he was vaguely used to. It was...familiar. What threw him for a loop was the scents that were coming from the people around him. It wasn’t like he hadn’t smelled scents from people before. Body odor, or people using perfumes and the like were common, but with his new senses, he was able to pick up the essence of people now.
He found it a little humourous that most of the people who worked in the flower shop had flower based scents. The lady who helped them the most smelled of lavender and honey. It was a pleasant scent, but not one that interested him. Maxwell’s alluring, unable to be placed scent filled his mind as he smelt other’s scent, and helped soothe him.
Andrew eventually made a decision on the flowers he wanted, and asked for a bouquet to be made instead of ordering one of the premade ones. The shop workers were surprised at first, until Andrew admitted it was for his partner’s Mom and he wanted to make a good first impression.
They had all softened, and grew even softer when Andrew insisted that he wanted the pink hydrangeas specifically as the feature flower in it. The more romantic of them told him what the flower meant, and Andrew had the distinct embarrassing moment to reveal that he already knew what the flower meant, and his face was bright red. Michael, who had no idea when Andrew was picking them out, grinned widely and smacked Andrew on the shoulder.
