Chapter 85

Relief lasted four days.

That was longer than Rei expected and shorter than Hayato deserved.

For four days, the K-14 tin remained sealed in evidence. The familiar voice modules stayed suspended. The supply room door required two signatures and one visible witness before opening. Shoko slept badly in Kyoto’s infirmary and called it adequate because doctors were apparently trained to lie in more advanced ways than patients. Daigo breathed normally under protest. Hayato drank water without being threatened every time. Miyo watched the supply corridor so visibly that three second-years started taking a longer route to avoid feeling accused by architecture.

For four days, the machine was quiet.

Then it learned the language of improvement.

The proposal arrived during morning meal in a folder too clean for any document with that much ambition.

Oda placed it on the table between the rice and Daigo’s forbidden second bowl of pickles.

Daigo looked at the folder.

"No"

Oda said "You have not read it"

That made Rei dislike him more.

Nagamori began with a bow.

"First, the office acknowledges harm caused by ICS-Voice-03 and its Kyoto adaptation"
